As of current this is me just starting to do this but I am gonna make my best attempt at a Fire Emblem Thracia 776 version on the GBA system similar to the Roman Numeral 4 that is going on by Pi. Although as people hope I will gladly add my own flair as well as bring back as much as I can from FE 5. With hope I can get a first look out soon but I thought I would post the concept although people are against opening up a thread without content I know that alone it will take forever but I am gonna put the work in

How do you plan on recapturing the feel? Considering it may be awkward to put some Thracian concepts in with the GBA stuff.

I put a similar project up in concepts a few months back. I decided to wait for FEXNA to start it. Here are some things you have to consider:

Which Engine to do it in (FE7 or FE8)

FE5 or FEGBA calcs

Dismount

Class changes

Skills

Capture

Old or new FoW

Objective changes

Weapon changes

There's a lot more where that came from. I looked at it and decided that Nightmare wasn't quite prepared to bend to my will in that way. I want to use FEXNA to create 2 versions: "Casual" will utilize GBA mechanics plus Fates capture and no forced dismounting (might reconsider, as this could break the game), whereas "Classic" Thracia is what it says on the tin.

Changing calculations takes some ASMing but it's not ridiculous. Setting to old FoW is easy. Objective and weapon changes are also pretty easy.

Dismount, skills, and capture are where you're going to have some serious trouble, on top of actually building the game. I think crazycolorz's stuff is a great place to start looking for a lot of these ASM hacks, you've got most of the hard stuff done, but this is a very long and involved process you're signing up for.

If you're going to can forced deployment slots, then I suggest adding Chapter 18x where you play as Dorias and his failed attempt on reclaiming Alster. The units you bring to that chapter then serving as the escape units in Chapter 19.

Thracia aged well enough so that it doesn't really warrant a remake; the concept is more or less for the novelty of it. And while FEXNA sounds like the much easier way out, a remake doesn't really have much to add much like for example an FE4 or FE2 remake would. To make a remake worthwhile in my opinion you'd have to make some sort of additions to the content, like perhaps extra chapters (you could utilise more FE4 characters, for example the substitute kids), or making some of the characters in the cast of FE5 not so useless (I'd say that some could be dropped altogether).

Thank you for all the concerns and I can tell you I have had a few of the same but I am determined to pull as much as possible. I am going to ask of those that have made skills work in gba fe's how they did it. If I can pull it off I can If not I cannot but I am gonna do my darnedest
