Here's the above story trailer in English, if you thought everyone speaking Japanese was weird:

And if you thought Persona 5 was the most unexpected collaboration Sega could think of...

Voices sound good, the new VA's everyone got several years ago besides Sonic & Tails can finally stretch their legs.

Also the Hooters colab has had me in stitches for the past few days.

New level revealed and for classic Sonic!

Spoiler

Ehhhhhh. I of all people don't like to complain, but.... this level doesn't quite excite me. Casinos are beaten to death in Sonic imo. Also, physics kind of look more so Generations than Classic/Mania which.... doesn't surprise me but it kind of sucks. Generations is fine, but I definitely prefer the Classic/Mania  physics.

Still excited about the game though

Boost era of 3D Sonic no longer excites me. I get bored even just watching people play it. The last Sonic games I properly played through and enjoyed (before Mania) were Rush and Advance 3. Heroes was fine, but can't hold a candle to Adventure 2. The Mega Drive era speaks for itself.

Mania was a godsend. Mania 2 when?

You actually enjoyed Advance 3? I personally found its level design to be one of the worst if not worst 2D Sonic design.

I'm not sure how the Boost Formula can't excite you considering its the main gameplay style thats worked for Sonic in 3D, besides the outdated (yet fun) adventure style. Especially after how much Generations excelled with it.

To each their own, I suppose. Hell, I can't really criticize your opinions since I find Shadow the Hedgehog and to a lesser extent 06 a guilty pleasure. But honestly find the boost era to be the better parts of 3d Sonic. Although I will say I've never played Heroes, Colors, the storybook games, or Lost World and I do think Unleashed has a huge amount of issues, I still feel like that's when the 3D era went in an upward Direction. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are fun... in certain sections. As far as the Advance 2 and 3 go, I don't remember anything *too* bad, I don't remember anything spectacular either, but it's probably been 5+ years since I've last touch them... I do remember the bottomless pit hell though

Advance 1 and 2 are solid but fall under the whole "Dimps has a fetish for pits" that continued into Rush.

That's a far better way to put it than I would, ngl.

Shadow's game, while I hate how it was structured, was my favorite 3D Sonic game until Generations for reasons even I don't understand, and honestly, playable Shadow in Forces has me more excited than anything else so far in Forces I've seen. Still, game looks hype.

Let's just hope it does moderately well like Generaions or it's likely bye bye boost formula.

also going into Advanced 3 it has some neat ideas but I felt the structure was very off for Sonic, it feels way more like it should be built for Knuckles (probably why the Knuckles and Tails combo is broken).

I personally consider 3 to be the best of the Advance games, and a significant step up from 2 level design wise. 2's focus on constant super-speed, while really awesome-feeling, put the game in this awkward situation where the difficulty was either "hold right to win" or "cheap shots you can't possibly react to" with little room in between. 3, while still having some cheap shots, slowed down a lot more often for the more platforming/hazard/enemy heavy sections.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, I think Advance 1 is probably the best designed except Cosmic Egg, I found 3 really clunky overall myself, but it might just be mine.

Also this song is great.

Fair enough, though I was only comparing 2 and 3. And I do agree about the structure feeling off for Sonic, which I can easily see being a bigger issue for some (I usually don't play as Sonic anyway).

Your points on 2 are also fairly on point. I don't mind you liking 3, sorry if I got a LITTLE aggressive there

No problem!

In other news, the PS4 trophies list for Sonic Forces is out in the open (found out about it through this reddit post).

Oh interesting, this shows a few things. Not to mention this means a Sonic game has some achievements that take some actual time to complete again haha.

Yesterday, the Sonic twitter account released an eight page promotional comic written by Ian Flynn, starring team Chaotix and a potential custom dude. There also seems to have been a livestream (they say it's going to be bi-weekly), but I missed it.

Oh cool, I do love the Chaotix crew.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Forces. Not because I'm a huge Sonic fan, or due to the fact that I like the style of gameplay. The truth is...I'm a sucker for character customization.

I'd say that's as good a reason as any.

EDIT: Another promotional comic is out, this time featuring Silver, Chaos and Knuckles

I haven't had the time to post during the last few days, so get ready for something of a dump:

First up, Aaron Webber (the guy behind Sonic's twitter channel) finally answers the question we all have been wondering about. Other interesting tidbits from the stream (which I haven't watched personally) include no paid DLC and no gender locked clothing.

Second, we have a new, relatively lengthy, Japanese trailer (featuring one of the most obnoxious announcer voices I've ever heard):

Spoiler

Third, some new gameplay videos, showing of an Infinite bossfight and Space Port (the avatar's version of Chemical Plant):

Spoiler

Notice how the ring count maxes out at 100. Reportedly, this is the game's easy mode; you only lose 20 rings upon getting hit, but can't carry more then 100. Normal mode is more like the usual system. Note that unlike previous Sonic games, you actually can't regain lost rings in Forces (outside of Hedgehog OCs which has this as their special ability).

Finally, we have some promotional art by none other than Sonic's original character designer.

So...I’ve been hearing rumors that the Sonic Forces demo is utterly horrible. Even Gamexplain, who usually tend to look in more positive side of things hated it. Have anyone here played the demo, and if you did what’s so bad about it? I usually don’t play demos, but this got me curious.
