Could you be a bit more specific about what you're struggling with? There is a lot that can be said about those 4 chapters so it would be helpful to be able to narrow it down.

mainly with the fact that the inventory is so spread out It's more likely Lifis won't be able to do much by the time he get's his lock picks back Bryton would be great if he could hit/Capture and Makua is just plain trash(I have a bias towards Mymadrons who aren't very strong but are reliant solely on Crits to do Damage before you say ISN'T THAT WHAT MYMADRONS ARE then explain to me why Ayra is still pretty strong even if she doesn't crit same goes with Rutger, Joshua, Hisame, and Ryouma) Lara has wet tissue durabilities so yeah

What items did you have on Leif and Lifis before the end of chapter 3? Also, make sure all of your army escapes BEFORE Leif does.

I for some reason had a bow on Leif or Lifis I don't know why everything else aside from the Meteor Tome for Asvel when he joins is pretty standard

Light Brand and Fire Sword are the only items that you really should go out of your way to have them with you in these chapters. Everything else will make things only more complicated than you need them to be in Ch.4 so it's better to leave them with your other party members.

Don't even bother trying to capture enemies in these chapters, especially not with Brighton or Machua. The only interesting things are Magic Waters, Tomes and Staves - they can all be stolen by Lifis [Lara doesn't have enough Con to steal Tomes]. The weapons are not worth capturing at all, not even for the money.

Brighton is pretty bulky and has Wrath which gives him a guaranteed critical counter-attack. Exposing him to attacks in enemy phase is the most efficient way of using him. He also receives support bonuses from Machua [though not vice versa!] so try to keep them close to each other. Karin and Felgus also support each other so you can use that to your advantage as well.

Enemies prioritize capturing defenseless units over attacking. If you put a weak unit like Lara or Karin with an empty inventory into an enemies range they'll capture them. That's a great way of cutting down their stats and incoming attacks. IIRC Karin will still support Felgus if he's in range even when she's captured.

Ch.4 can be done pretty easily actually. The less you spend trying to pick up items, fighting or capturing enemies the easier it becomes. You'll do next to no fighting if you do it right. Rescue + drop units around - especially Lara - and swapping keys around makes this chapter mostly a matter of item management more than anything else. A lot of the fighting can be done by the NPCs as well. They have WTA against the soldies and distract them from attacking you.

Well, in preparation of this chapter it would be best to have Leaf use all the power-ups up to this point. Also it would be good to take the Fire Sword and the Brave Axe along. The Brave Axe since it helps Dalsim a lot. The Fire Sword should go to Fergus. He can't use it right of the bat but he is only 20 sword swings away from getting the B rank in swords that he needs. It might also be a good idea to take one of the scrolls with you in order to shield Dalsim from critical hits. Otherwise even the weakest grunts can deal critical hits against him as he has a luck base of 0.

Keep Machua and Brighton together. The two of them support each other. +10 to critical, avoid and hit as long as they are no more then 3 tiles away from each other. Same goes for Fergus and Karin. Also Fergus has a PCC of 5, so keeping Karin around gives him +50% to the critical hit rate on his second swing. Add that to his skill base of 7 and he has a 85% chance for a critical hit.

Machua might not be great but she is fine. In Thracia you can get your critical hit chance high enough to rely on it. She has a PCC of 3 and a Skill base of 10, so on her second hit she has a 30% chance for a critical right of the bat. Add in the support boast from her buddy Brighton and she has a 60% chance. One of the chests should contain a Rapier that boasts critical by 10%. If she uses that one she has a 90% chance for a critical on the second hit.

Brighton is an Axe Knight, so he is a bit handicapped by being indoors. However he has the Wrath skill. With Wrath, ever single attack of his on enemy phase will be a critical hit.

Keep in mind that defenseless units can get captured without a fight. So make sure everyone carries a weapon.

Since you don't have a healer, you need Vulneraries. From what I recall enemies have plenty of them. But If capturing proves too difficult, simply have Lifis and Lana steal some Vulnerary right out of the enemies inventory. That's pretty much all that is worth stealing anyway since no one in your party can use the lances that they carry. Speaking of stealing, Lifis has enough build to steal tomes from enemy mages to render them helpless.

When you free the citizens, make sure to escort them until they leave the map. They will try to leave the map to the two side exits, which is also an enemy reinforcement spot.

Also, you probably want to use a safestate before you open the door to the north. Since this is a rather slow map you probably don't want to have to restart the whole thing.

You don't want to take the meteor tome with you, because there is no way that asvel is reaching fire rank A before you reuite with everyone else. Just have someone else (besides evale) hold the meteor tome, and they will have it when they get back. THe normal fire tome might be worth it so that he does not use up too many aircalaber uses, but you can steal a tome in his join chapter as well. Pretty much the only other items that might be worth it are schrools, the armorslayer, lockpicks, and the fire/light swords (and even then, you might want to leave he fire sword on evel for chapter 6. Keep in mind that you get free stuff if you left slots in your inventory empty (up to 4 items)

Eyvel holding Meteor or anything is fine really, since her items are dumped into the supply convoy which means you can pick them up in Ch6, Ch7 or in the battle preparations of Ch8.
