MageSons
So I've been playing FE11 and FE12 lately. And this one chapter in FE11 had me send one of my units, so I sent Frey, and apparently, he dies. So, if I send in Frey and he "dies". That would leave Cain and Abel. But in FE12, Abel doesn't appear, but Frey does. Meaning, that the game itself made Abel die. But since I sent out Frey, I messed up the timeline. Did IntSys. screwed up on the FE11 and FE12 timeline? You decide.
Jedi
FE12 has Abel appear later, Frey is confirmed to be the sacrifice but also surviving in 12 as well.
MageSons
Well, that messed with my brain.
Fire Emblem Fan
Yeah it was confirmed that canonically, Frey is the sacrifice. But he survives, and suffers memory loss. Both Cain and Abel appear later in the game.
Topaz Light
Yeah, Abel doesn't appear until later on, as a prepromoted Paladin. Frey was the canonical sacrifice, and he was apparently beaten to within an inch of his life and then left for dead rather than actually killed... and of course, him being a named character in a fantasy story, he recovered from his injuries (with some help from local villagers) and returned hale and hearty for the sequel.
