What's the idea of the phrase "Roy's my boy!"?

Rhymes add charm to any phase, which is part of what made Roy's SSBM crowd chant so popular, I think.

Though it's also a Dwight D Eisenhower reference, Ike's in Brawl counts too for similar reasons.

Basically what I'm saying is rhyming adds charm to a rally cry or cheer. Something like that.

I always thought it was a reference to Roy "the boy" Orbison the singer, I never knew it was a reference to president Eisenhower you really do learn something new everyday.

No, Ike's is a reference to President Eisenhower's campaign, sorry that wasn't clear.
