What kind of image are you trying to upload? The forum image uploader isn't really great anyway but it should at least be working...

tbf I've tried posting stuff from Imgur and it gave me the same thing. Even when I rehost the thing. I have to use Postimage.

I haven't known anyone else having this problem though so it might just be a problem on mine and OP's end.

If this happens at certain times then it's because of an issue that's caused when we update the forum software, it's usually fixed within the day. If it's happening to you year-round then it sounds like an issue out of our hands or on your end for sure.

A lot of the time, if you're copying it from sources like Tumblr, Photobucket or Twitter, the URL for the image appears as:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CzufJsHUoAAzUli.png:large

or

http://smg.photobucket.com/user/smallcookie/media/2005Jun/icecreammochi.jpg.html

Our forum can't always parse out the :large or the .html text to push the image in upon creating the post (alternatively, it might say XXXXXXX.jpg:300x200 or something). A preview might occur in the text box as you're preparing it, but when you hit Post, it can't render it for the thread. Usually, you can just omit those little pieces at the end after the image extension, ensuring that it ends with a common image filetype such as .PNG or .JPG.

I know imgur's done this on occasion (to me). Ssometimes you'll have something like;

http://i.imgur.com/Jl6zU7G   [Bad]

instead of

http://i.imgur.com/Jl6zU7G.jpg   [Good]

The former won't work, the latter will. Depending on where and how you obtain the image's URL, you might be stuck with the filetype extension simply omitted, and if it's not there, it won't work on our forums. For what it's worth, it won't work on most forums that operate using BBCode, which is a very common platform.
