Way to miss my point entirely.

Smash has characters from all sorts of games. Heroes has only FE characters and gameplay. Not other characters from other game series. Therefore, it is an FE game.

Gacha is not true gambling because of what Clogon just said above.

@Clogon I was going to state the differences but SoC already gave his input on that, so me adding onto it would be superfluous.

Also, *ahem*

First and foremost, Heroes is not a fire emblem game, it is a gacha game.

Dry spells work just as well as limited-time banners at getting people to spend money, which is endgame of IS, so to speak.

My original point still stands. I will admit Smash Bros. is a bit of an extreme example though.

The goal of gacha--or any F2P game in existence--is to make you spend money. Not having the two daily orbs adds to the temptation to squeeze out some extra pulls during banners with characters you want. Even so, compared to other gachas, Heroes is unusually generous with its premium currency and other limiting factors like feathers.

Simply because those cards have physical value. When you "gamble" with a pull on a gacha game it has no value but to the account tied to it. You can't resell individual pulls to someone else. While with cards, you can. You always get something out of packs that has physical value via "collecting".

Sorry I didn't see your edit. The "physical value" only exists because of secondary markets. Many online video games nowadays prevent trading to eliminate secondary markets so that only the game developper can profit. It also eliminate trading scams, thefts and headaches (lots and lots of headaches, see the Diablo 3 Auction House problems for example). It is possible to prevent secondary markets of physical goods. But the cost to carry out and sustain such an action is too high to deem it worth pursuing.

There are plenty of "Gacha" that are tradeable. For example Dota/Overwatch have many skins and cosmetics that come from random chests with higher monetary value than what the creators initially released them at. They just aren't pure Gacha games but the value for the rare virtual items on the secondary markets are through the roof. Such a value pretty much ignore the comparison between virtual and physical.

I'm a monster at Blackjack and know how to make the best out of my odds.

Assuming only 1 deck of cards is used sure. You are playing with a very limited 52 card pool where possible outcomes are eliminated as they show up. The 2 games are very different. Only if you return the card to the pool before drawing a new one would these games become even remotely comparable.

1 deck of cards? Ha, no casino would give the player such an advantage as counting cards. I was just making a joke with regard to people calling this game gambling - It can't be gambling because I'm no good at it.

Weren't you the same guy who caved from being free to play a while ago?

I've spent real money once which got me a Hinoka (I wanted Cordelia :[). I got a free Google Play card once that net me 75 orbs, but I didn't even need them to get Ninian and a Jaffar. Those 75 did get me Azura and a second Jaffar though. Even though I wanted Priscilla.

never heard of a tournament that pays out in prizes instead of a percent of the pot money :0

Well technically I got paid via Walmart gift card. Apparently handing out actual cash prizes isn't allowed at the college I go to or something.

I went to Winter Game Fest at UC San Diego back in like 2010 (or whenever the smash tournament Pound 4 was) and the winner there got like a $400 gift card from something lol

I didn't play though; I was only there to watch and visit high school friends

I didn't go to something that big lmao. I wouldn't drop 400 on this game anyway.

...Or would I?

If you do, I'm slapping your phone right out your hand before you confirm spend, then I'm taking the gift card myself and buying a Switch

Oh yeah, the Switch and whatnot. I'd want a weeb Switch instead though, so I wouldn't spend that gift card on that.

Yeah, if you get a $400 gift card then the correct  thing would be to send it to me

Meh, you'd just blow it on lame stuff like natto tbh!

Yes, this game beat me, as you know. To get the result I got after spending money, it's only a 3% odds of failing that much, but it happened.

Also, it's just twenty dollars. I'm an adult, so it's not a scandalous amount to have spent ~

Yeah I remember

That's the greatest thing that would disappoint me if I ever spent money. Getting nothing. Then I'd be like:

"Well I could have went to a buffet instead"

Went, gone, its basically the same thing lololololol

I am so tempted to spend money on this Lloyd banner for Hinoka though :0 but I'm not going to

Heh you better not

Otherwise, I might start hating Natto too

In order for me to spend money on this game, I'd probably have to do it to save someone else's life. Otherwise, I am not spending a drip of a drip of cash.
