Potential Echoes Remake Wants

With Gaiden getting a remake and the fact that many of us now presume that Echoes is going to be a subseries or remakes, what would you like in a hypothetical Sacred Stones Remake?

For me personally:

1. The ability to go down both Eirika's and Ephraim's path on the same playthrough. They could do something like in RD where you split up your army between the twins and like in Gaiden, you can go through their stories at any speed you want (Like: Ephraim 1-->Eirika 1-->Ephraim 2 or Ephraim 1-->Ephraim 2-->Eirika 1).

2. More history. While this is a given, sadly Magvel's history is not as developed as say Elibe's (I mean we only know the names of 2 of the 5 heroes).

3. Expanded skill system. SS was the first game after Thracia that used a skill system. This could really be expanded to just simply put, be better and more up to date.

4. Reclassing. While I don't want reclassing on the same level as Awakening or Fates, I think being able to reclass between a units two promotion options i.e. Joshua can reclass between Swordmaster and Assassin, would be pretty cool.

5. Non-limited supports. Basically, don't limit the supports to 5 for each character. Allow us to get all B supports but only one A support, or something along those lines. or they could introduce an S rank where S rank equates to a paired ending i.e. Eirika and Forde get an S rank so they get their PE, but Eirkia can still get an A with Seth and Forde can get an A with Kyle, they just don't get their paired endings.

Obviously this is all hypothetical. I mean, I'm pretty sure we will get Binding Blade remakes before anything else if Heroes is any indication, but yeah. What are you thoughts?

Enemies need to be like, 15-25% stronger across all difficulties.

I think everything you mentioned will happen when we get a SS remake in like, 15 years.

Also, I don't want reclassing between promotions. Completely negates the whole idea of making a hard choice and picking one promotion if you don't have to stick with your decision.

Hm... I wonder how the game would react with you having to split your army between two forces. I think you might need a few more playable characters before that 'choose the characters' things is really feasible. Plus, you've gotta choose which characters get recruited on which route.

The lore thing, I can totally get behind.

To divide the army, I think that there would be a need for more characters. It would never happen, and I too would probably be annoyed by this, if they introduced children to the game. That way, the support system would get an update (which I think it would need), and then Ephraim and Eirika could split up, and have their own separate lines in one play through.

But then the question rises, how would Tethys, Gerik, and Ewan be introduced? They are found in both routes. But honestly, they are important to Eirika's route so they would get thrown in there.

More characters are not a necessity, I believe. You're only deploying about half your roster in any given chapter. Though some units should be required to go one path or the other, either for story (i.e. Joshua in Jehanna) or gameplay (i.e. to prevent ridiculously unbalanced teams) reasons. Now the dilemma would be: who recruits who? Innes, Saleh, Duessel and Knoll are quite obvious. Gerik and Tethys work way better on Eirika's route (although their recruitment in Ephraim's path implies that they have been fighting with Eirika and Innes, so maybe they could include the possibility to transfer them. Marisa and Ewan work better with Eirika, too, I guess. Cormag has an entire arc about him in Eirika's path, so he should be recruited there. Amelia makes more sense with Ephraim. Tana makes sense either way, so I'd say Ephraim for her, to even things out. Same for L'Arachel, Dozla and Rennac, though the plot point of Rausten's knights saving the day against Aias would have to be reworked altogether.

Other than that, I support TC's suggestions.

I'll also add that they should include at least one extra difficulty level, so that the game might provide a challenge worthy of the series' reputation.

I'm still waiting for a continuation or maybe a remake of Scared Stones, as every other game that has been released, I mean the only game (apart from Fates) has a story based in the same universe (FE1 and FE3, FE4 and FE5, FE6 and FE7, FE9 and FE10, FE11 and FE12, and Awakening was based in FE1's continent).

I copied that my from another post, its really more lore wise for me.

Hmm... (Some of this is just rephrasing Azz's ideas.)

1. Playable Generics, like in Fates. This way we can have a pseudo Avatar character and even play Eirka's or Ephraim's routes when they are "accompanied by an escort" or "leading an army." I do not want an actual Avatar Character created for Sacred Stones.

1A. Playable Monsters. I do not see this happening in the main story mode, but maybe Postgame or a side mode featuring the monster characters would be nice.

1B. Playing both Erika's and Ephraim's routes. I also like this suggestion and the "army split up" like they did in Radiant Dawn. Some characters would be locked to a route due to story reasons, and if the player wants to do the "all-in" approach, the other twin can field a generic army (with the locked units tagging along) for fun.

However, this does bring up the concern of how the rest of the story will play out after the Twins meet, since the dialogue differs slightly depending on the Twin initially chosen. Maybe this choice is made during the reunion chapter with what twin to start out with?

2. Reclassing between promotion options. I gotta agree with this one, and will not mind if it is only available during the Postgame. Sometimes I may want Marisa to be a Swordmaster, other times an Assassin.

3. No more 5 support limit. I also agree with this notion, but due to the style of Sacred Stone's writing, there would have to be some changes.

If characters paired together will result in an ending, then the "A" support becomes an "S" support (C, B, S). If a character reaches an "S" support, that character cannot "S" support anyone else. An example of this is Erika and Seth. If Erika reaches "S" rank with Seth, she will get Seth's ending but will no longer be able to achieve "S" rank with Ephraim, Innes, Saleh, Forde, or Tana. Erika can, however, reach an "A" support with L'Arachel since there is no paired ending (C, B, A).

If characters paired together will not result in an ending, then the "A" support remains as is and that character can have as many "A" supports as possible. For example, Gilliam can have an "A" support with Moulder, Garcia, Franz, and Neimi, while obtaining the "S" support with Syrene.

I would just go for an extended option, but I rather keep FE8's supports as they are. Even if the new stuff can be just as good, I am hesitant with the writing due to Awakening and Fates.

4. Some new Paralogue, Xenologue, or Gaiden chapters (whatever the proper term is). Perhaps they can showcase L'Arachel's merry band wandering about or how Duessel and Knoll slowly become disillusioned with how Grado is progressing. Heck, even have Lyon show up for one, maybe providing some insight on his true self as he fights the possession in vain (and make the whole thing even more tragic for him). Also, maybe even a new "dungeon" or two like the Tower of Valni and the Ruins.

5. In addition to normal Lunatic, add Lunatic+ to Sacred Stones. I suspect Normal and Hard will still be as easy like they were in Sacred Stones while Lunatic provides some challenge. I want Lunatic+ to be a bit more crazy, but be fair unlike Awakening's Lunatic+.

6. DLC. In addition to the "Booster Trio" (Gold, EXP, and Weapons), I would like to see a DLC focused on the legendary heroes of old to expand on Magvel's world. Perhaps even have a "Creature" DLC where the player controls the monsters.

* * * * *

I would also love to see a sequel to Sacred Stones. Perhap the Earthquake that hits Grado was so devastating that someone hungry for power blames the Earthquake on the misfortunes of the people on Renais and incites a revolt. The protagonist can be a commoner in Grado just trying to make ends meet as a hunter (a Bow Lord!) but is eventually caught up in the conflict as a greater threat rises (perhaps instead of demons, the player fights angels instead. Alternatively, Magvel is invaded by a foreign country and we get to go to another continent!)

i'm okay with  most of your points but (imho) :

Except if they remake the monsters, playing them is useless, they're just standard class, but less good and more boring. They have some tweaks of course like mogalls are the only flying mages. But i did an edited run once with monsters and they were pretty boring. Aside from that it's not like it would make the game worse if it's in the Monster Quest so why not.

I heard many people complaining about the route while I like the way it's done. Like the developpers goal was to make you follow same characters in two different settings, not just follow two differrent paths. I don't really think a RD like split would work since in RD it happened in the very final part, so there's a lot of characters to split and few to introduce / recruit. In SS, just before the route split there is still nearly half the total cast to recruit. And you most likely benched nearly half of the guys you already had. That means they'll have to make the chapters following the split easier.

I think the support limit is cool, it avoids stacking too much support bonus, but since recent fe removed it, I don't think it'll come back so whatever.

More gaiden chapters would be really cool, about the points you stated, but also about ephraim. From a storytelling point of view it's kinda weird to put a character you only played twice as a choice for a route split. Maybe two or three chapters about ephraim escaping from Valter's boys, and how Orson "mysteriously" disappeared.

About the DLC, of course it'll be better if they were included with the game but since it shouldn't be a "get the logic of the story in that DLC" DLC, well why not.

And last, about the sequel, according to the wiki (so I don't take these informations as true), Grado people considered the earthquake as a punishment for what they did to Renais. But even then, I find it's kind of hard to convince a nation to attack another nation they already backstabbed. I like the idea of fighting something else than demons, like except in RD we always fought ennemies that were kind of evil looking, may it be by their armor color, the fact they are monster etc...

They should not make the chapters following the split any easier. Instead, players would be encouraged to use all characters. And if some are too underleveled, well, when does the Tower of Valni first appear?

I agree monsters should not be playable (except maybe as summons... I realise the Summoner class would likely become way too strong with this, but... :Knoll:)

There are many opportunities to add more characters after the split: Frelian escorts in both routes, rescued villages, mercenaries other than Gerik's (I'm Erina, I'm a mercenary.), Grado rebels, A few more Rausten characters etc.

What would be the most logical reason for Anna to be recruited here?

Combat medic and magic knight classes (magic and physical strength) they may be exclusive to Rausten and Grado respectively.

It will make better sense to have wyvern lords to wield axes because Of Grado's national treasure.

No children please. I'm all for new characters though. We missed a female thief and shaman for the second time in a row with this game, and the trend continued into FE9, FE10 for shamans.

Personally I think Gerik's team belongs on Eirika's route. I feel like Innes and Gerik's support kinda comes outta nowhere if you take Ephraim's route. If stories were being played simultaneously, I can see Gerik sending Marisa to Ephraim's side however.

Edit: On second thought, Gerik does mention being sent by Innes in Ephraim's path. Still think they make more sense on Eirika's path. If anything, just send Marisa and Ewan since Eirika's side already has a myrm and a mage.

There really is no point in remaking SS if you ask me. Why would you remake a game that's possible to port instead of being tweaked unless its Binding blade which not only didn't get a global release but also has several game related issues?

Gaiden made sense to be remade because its a game that didn't get a global release.

Personally, I'm just speaking hypothetically. I hope FE4 comes next, possibly tied in with FE5. Followed by FE6, which would be really awesome if it was tied to FE7.

But if Echoes is our magical sub-series of remakes, I would still want them to get to FE8 eventually. Because then 9 and 10 have a shot at being on handheld.
