Eleanore
Pretty much what it says in the title, I know I talk about Gaiden gameplay/story on here but I've actually never played it myself. NES graphics/music is just a bit too archaic for me to put up with. So I'm curious if most of you are like me that only has experience with the original through second hand accounts and how many actually have finished the game. Michelaar
I am currently playing it! I am enjoying it lots!
The DanMan
Watched most of MK404's LP and read parts of a couple that were on here.
Gyges
I started the beginning of it over a year ago...I'm back to playing now again ofc
Azz
I have and I adored it. I would say it's my favourite FE it it wasn't for the fact that Sacred Stones is objectively the better game.
Carnation
I'm currently playing it, nearing the end of chapter 4. I don't think I would've started playing it this year without Echoes' announcement - there are other Japan-only FEs I find more interesting, but I decided to give Gaiden a shot anyway. The experience has been very memorable, but also frustrating. Gaiden's too archaic for me to enjoy fully, but I can appreciate it on some level. What's getting to me the most is lack of motivation to keep going. I'd lie if I said I cared a lot about FE stories, but there's almost nothing in between the maps that'd make me invested in anything. Basically the only time I felt motivated was during the events leading to Matilda's recruitment. Edited March 16, 2017 by Carnation

Tryhard
beat it several times and is my favourite
Thane
Completed it. It's a deeply flawed game, but I enjoyed it well enough. I still think being too loyal to some of the more questionable design decisions would be a terrible idea, but they look like they're tweaking things, so my concerns are slowly fading. ChibiToastExplosion
The original was one of my favorites, and Echoes might BE my favorite, we will have to see. I'm definitely hyped! I have an English reproduction cartridge, so I played Gaiden on the NES itself. I also have like 3 Famicom copies <. <
Extrasolar
Not me. I'm one of those plebs waiting to get the experience for the first time in Echoes. Though I didn't watch an LP or read one, I instead read the plot summary on this very site...and regret it now, because I know the huge twist of the plot. But hey, I never expected to see Gaiden in the west... But they are changing up the plot as it seems even a little with the new characters and such, so I'll still be surprised. Interdimensional Observer
I'd love to play any Japan only FE with a translation available, and I actually went ahead and tried emulate TRS, but I failed somehow with my Mac. Maybe when when the family PC gets replaced I'll see about keeping the old for myself for emulation. I'd probably skip Gaiden with the remake coming out. It'd probably be just too archaic to waste time from my finite life to bother with.
Nakaion
Currently playing it and I'm in the middle of chapter 4 now. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would, though there are definitely quite a few things that could use some improvement. I like most of the unique mechanics though and I'm glad they seem to be keeping my favourites in the remake, like the HP-costing spells. BlizzardWolf95
I love Gaiden, beat it my first time last year, but I've been dabbling in it for years (and have been going through the game again recently thanks to the hype). I can't wait for Echoes, not even Fates made me this excited.
whase
I once played the first six or so chapters of Gaiden, then I found out my emulator wouldn't save and lost all progress. I haven't felt the need to pick it up since, and with SoV coming out in May I doubt I ever will get back to the old Gaiden.
Flee Fleet!
I watched an LP of it. Could play it one day, once I download an NES emulator. But I'm not too kind towards NES games as I am towards Snes games. Because graphics.
escotanner
I'm currently playing Gaiden right now, but I have yet to actually beat the game.

Kaze
Never had the opportunity to play it. Sadly, it's like every other non-localized Fire Emblem game for me. I'd love to play it, but haven't had the chance to yet.
tacticianwhite
Nope, can't say that I have. I don't really know Japanese at all and I'd rather play all my games through more...legit means. But I suppose that's why I'm looking forward to Echoes, since it's a "new" Fire Emblem game to me. So long as it isn't *too* archaic (I'm at least hoping the maps are at least somewhat enjoyable to play through), I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it because hey, it's Fire Emblem. Jedi
Completed it and overall enjoy it, despite some of its more janky moments.
Sword_of_Dusk
Been considering playing it, but with SoV coming, I likely won't try the original version until a much later date, and solely for comparisons to the updated version.
Altrosa
I have not, and currently don't plan to as I'd rather wait for SoV.
The Malign Knight
I've played it and completed it. It has some very big flaws and some of them comes from having aged very poorly, but I still liked it overall. Tolvir
I've played parts of it. Mostly just the beginning parts to get an idea of what the game was like, since I kind of want to keep parts of the game still a mystery to myself story wise, even if Gaiden is super barebones.
