New classes?

Recommended Posts

Do you think they will add newer classes to echoes that weren't in the original? I was thinking about how high Kliff's def, mag, and spe were and I started thinking, "Wouldn't he be a fantastic emperor?" Of course, if emperor were added, it would'nt be available to Kliff, but perhaps Rudolf?

I hope so, but I doubt it. Though Faye being a Pegasus knight was interesting and gives me a bit of hope for more options.

The five base classes were already shown, so I doubt any new base classes are available outside of Pegasus for the new female villager. But maybe we will see some new promotion options for the classes.

there is also DLC too.

No thanks. Maybe it's just me being one of the few who wants Echoes to be as faithful as possible, I would not like any new classes, and if they add any, I would just want them to be enemy only classes for important characters like Rudolf getting Emperor instead of just being a Gold Knight (Or what ever he was, I can't remember).

Unless they add in stat caps that aren't all 40s or make a playable axe user, I don't see why. Weapon variety isn't necessary without a triangle. I could see Rudolf getting a class for himself since so far he hasn't been shown to look like a Gold Knight anymore, but that's about it. They seem to be sticking pretty faithfully to the original game in every meaningful way

Not likely. Some of us had our curiosities piqued when we saw a griffon rider in the mural at the start of the announcement trailer, but that seems to have been completely for flavor.

I don't mind new classes, although it doesn't look like we'll be getting many if any from where we stand now. I'd still kinda like a playable Dark Mage like Witch/Arcanist though.

I'd see Rudolf as more of a candidate for Conqueror than Emperor anyhow, given that he's a Gold Knight and not a Baron. Although his class doesn't really matter very much anyway due to his battle's gimmick.

maybe we'll see them give more promotion options on a second playthrough

From the looks of the first trailer from the Direct, Greith (Geyse) won't be a Dread Fighter anymore, instead adopting a more unique look, complete with his eyepatch, beret and scarf noticable, plus wielding what looks to be an axe, implying it might be an enemy-only promotion for Mountain Thief.

This could also possibly allude to there being a playable Mountain Thief added, but that's a lot less likely.

Such an angry looking man. Regardless of whether there are new classes added to this game more not, I'm looking forward to it. I will say that if they do add new classes, I'd only want a few added to the game. Also, was the Witch class ever playable in Gaiden?

I wouldn't mind as long as there aren't too many classes added. Stuff like a proper Mercenary/Myrmidon split, for example, I wouldn't mind. Unique classes for major antagonists like Rudolf and Desaix would be nice too.

Nope, the two playable characters who are Witches as enemies become Mages when they join the party.

That's what I thought. Honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to the Witch class being playable in Echoes. Especially after being able to use it in Fates. That being said, I wouldn't be heartbroken if it's locked to enemies only like it was in Gaiden.

Not necessarily true, different weapons all have different general stats (ie swords are weak and accurate, axes are strong and miss often, lances are in the middle).

Fair, but not in Gaiden. They could just very well all use swords and turn the specialty lances into specialty swords instead, the only difference now is that you can't stick a shooting star lance on everyone.

A part of me wants a bigger variety of classes, but another part of me thinks that it makes sense for there not to be. Given the timing of this game, it's very early in the chronology and IMO, Valentia wasn't as advanced as Archanea across the pond. They didn't have any tomes for Pete sakes. Zofia wasn't a military-esque country, so it makes sense for them to not have any "specialists" to create unique disciplines and skills. So the lack of battlefield interest and lack of technological advances can explain why our army won't have too much diversity. I wouldn't mind one or two new classes for each country though, as it reflects a cultural practice, but having too many classes can be seen as out of place to me. Or am I thinking too hard on this one?

Also, aesthetically, a Witch in Gaiden was just a recolored Mage with some cheap powers (teleportation, summoning). So if they maintain that in this game, the switch was really just a different class name.

Personally, I'm always up for more classes, as long as they make sense. So nothing like butlers and brides, which i felt clashed with the pseudo-Medieval vibe these games have anyway.

Honestly, I hope they bring Manakete back for this game...? But the character who has the class has to be a completely new character. I was hoping it could possibly hint something about Nowi's ancestry. It's all wishful thinking, sadly. ):

Halberdier would be nice, but I don't think its likely.

That could be a Dreadfighter as the 3DS versions of the class wear weapons on their back.

That's true, it very well could be. Even if it is, it's still nice to see generic classes in this game going so far as to make unique sprites for one-off bosses, as nothing on the sprite suggests any relation to the shinobi origins of the Dread Fighter class.

It makes me excited to see what some of the endgame stuff is going to look like in terms of quality and detail!

I like it too, I'm surprised Grieth looks almost exactly the same from that image when Rudolph changed so much in appearance.

Apparently you can get monster units with non Fire Emblem amiibos, its possible Brigands can be obtained as phantom units in the same manner.

Personally, I don't think this game need any new classes, though I would like to see the archsage and seraph knight added as promotion for the sage and falco knights, given that these 2 classes did not have third tier promotions in the original game.
