Walk it Off

"Right." She didn't want the doctor calling Brant back, so whether or not she was joking, better get this right the first time. Giving her legs a little wiggle first, she slipped them over the edge of the bed and tried to stand... No crumpling just yet. Taking another moment to stretch them out one after the other, she sighed in victory, smiling a bit. "Alright. Seems like everything's working, more or less. Uh--" She quickly looked behind her and breathed a sigh of relief. Gowns weren't open in the back anymore. She hadn't been hospitalized since she'd left after birth, so she had to make sure. "Alright, Makoto... Huh, you're not that tall, are you? How old are you again...?" Standing next to him was really giving her a new look at him, hoping he'd be up for this. "Cool... Alright, c'mere shoulder." As unfortunate as the doctor's orders were-- she was sure she could walk on her own, she strapped her arm around him and gave an awkward smile. "Let's get walking then... Just down to the bottom floor, then down the right hall." Christina gave a sorry glance to Kim, almost sighing. "Hope you get better soon, Kim."

Handling

"Can I?" Hannah paused. "I do not know. I would have to test. If Avery is around, and you have time to wait approximately half an hour, I could ask her for any necessary upgrades to be able to handle that, if I cannot... My averages are telling me that it would cause strain, but be feasible." It was an entire mech's camera footage, and they were bigger for a reason. She didn't know what would happen, so hopefully nothing would cause her to freeze. "I shall test first and see about upgrades after, to save you time. Does that sound alright?" Hopefully it did, Hannah pausing a moment to eye up Brant, smile at him, and attach herself to his arm again for the duration of the elevator ride.

Colony Joy Ride

"Some of them are interesting... But I was stuck on Colony One. Nothing interesting there. Only slow, minor advances towards deep space travel. Colony two and five are the cool ones. Robotics and engineering. That's where all the fun happens... We've even got one of the Colony Five prototypes on the ship. I think that Astin person pilots it. They're a melee specialist, so, obviously, the robot with the giant swords suits them just fine." Olivia shrugged, glancing over at one of their wards leaving. What lovely timing. "Yeah, leave the joy ride until way later. After what that kid pulled taking off like he did, I don't want us to get in trouble for that sorta fun... Just show me the robot. I'm sure it's interesting enough. And with that one leaving, I might get off early today. Talk to you then?" Olivia smirked, twirling around to head back over to her claimed seat, to read some more.

Quiet, No Peace

Jess sighed as Roxanna finally left, letting herself whimper for a moment before reeling it back in. "God, why me? I only ever signed up because I was good at their test programs... I never wanted to have to do this..." Whining about it didn't change the situation, but it made her feel a little bit better. "Avery... Avery first. Brant's been given orders. Then... Fuck, I can't even remember. Rest. Sleep. I dunno... Get ready to see Abby. Gotta put on a smile. Can't let her see any of this, just... Gotta be happy." As happy as she could be. Bubbly, kind of awkward, slightly clueless. That fit her to a T, didn't it? That's what she had to be... Or she'd be putting even more weight on poor Abigail's shoulders.

Taking a silent moment to herself to calm down and wipe her eyes, Jess got up and figured that a personal visit to Avery would be better than another fired off message. She could handle talking to her. Avery was nice.

Val did her best to smile at Mai as Olivia continued to chat up the other girl. "Ah, well, I'm glad you're doing well then. If that changes, please don't hesitate to let us know. There should be something we can do to help but we only know what to do if you let us know." Glancing around, trying not to look at Olivia, she spotted a boy she recognized as having been around the medbay talking to Mai before. "That's your son, yes? It looks like he's helping out a fair amount around here. You seem to have raised him right." Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Olivia moving away back to her book and sighed quietly to herself. Why did she even volunteer to help here if she's just going to read her book and flirt with other girls 90% of the time? That wasn't fair and she knew it, but right this moment, she really didn't care.

Slowly balancing the stack of food, Astin made their way over towards the elevator. In retrospect, it probably would have made more sense to find a container big enough for everything instead of just some plates, but it was too late now. They were committed to this and going back would just look silly. Besides, it had seemed like the two boys were wanting to have a serious conversation. Which made sense given the secrets that had been revealed in the meeting, but that wasn't something for Astin to listen in on. Best to leave them to their instant coffee and conversation. They shuddered slightly at the thought of instant coffee, but to each their own. Even if it was a crime against humanity like instant coffee.

Reaching the elevator, they realized their mistake. Their hands were full of sandwich makings and sides, making the prospect of pushing a button complicated. They could put the food down they supposed. The floor was probably clean, right? Their janitor did seem to do a good job but... Finally, they sighed. Taking a few steps back and leaning back as far as they safely could without losing their balance, they brought their foot up and gently kicked the button, thankfully lighting it up on their first try. They were going to face the same issue once the elevator actually arrived, but that was a challenge they would face when it came.

"Half the bottle, hooey. Yeah, that'd do you right. Good thing you got stopped before you could finish, that's for sure. I'll have to remember for next time to only give you something a lot lighter, or stick around in person," Thorvald exclaimed, a bit surprised, and looking slightly disapproving. "And please, Avery, I'm not that hard on the old girl..." he began to defend himself, walking along beside her toward wherever she was going to put him to work, but realized nobody would believe it. "Errr, well at least this time I brought some kit to do a little fixerup in the field... That said, I'd be itching for a chance to take one of the new models out for a spin myself. Hmm, I think the lass seemed like she was gonna keep on keeping on, so if anyone would be parting with their rides it'd be the other fella."

"I was considering what family meant." Tarquin replied, gripping the cup tightly. He knew the technical definition, but who to apply it to, if anyone, was the difficult part. "It was a novel thought, it doesn't matter too much. I can worry about it later."

The fact that it was almost solid wasn't particularly reassuring for Tarquin, nor was the option of adding more water a good sign. He looked down into the dark abyss that was the contents of his mug. He raised it to his mouth, taking a sip... or a mouthful, he was preparing himself for the need to chew it. Tarquin practically gagged on the foul mixture, the strong acidic taste burning into his tongue. His eyes were watering, he'd never had such a sensory assault before. It wasn't as if it were innately terrible, but the sheer strength of it was too much for him. His diet had been varied growing up, but he had never really faced the extremes of taste. Coffee was certainly something he'd never been offered, both for its health consequences and his young age had put in as a definite no. In retrospect, if it were all like this, perhaps it had been a good thing.

"I... think it's a little strong." Tarquin winced, shakily placing his mug back on the counter. Whether or not water, cream or sugar could make it drinkable wasn't certain, he had no clue how Nikolai, or anyone, could actually survive it without acclimation.

Talia had been whisked away by Cheryl, leaving her idol behind with a terrible impression. How could she have blown things so badly? She'd been lugged towards the elevator like a sack of potatoes, she certainly felt as useful as a pile of vegetables. She let herself go limp, realising that she'd managed to fail once more in a long string of events. Did she even want to go to her room? It wasn't that she enjoyed being there all by herself, it was just far more preferable to the terror that engulfed her anywhere else.

"I don't want to be like this..." she sighed, closing her eyes. She just wanted to wake up and for everything to be OK, but that would never happen to someone like her. Hiding away in her room was the best she could manage, she'd already tried and failed at everything else. "Why doesn't anything ever go right?"

Christina was on her way out, with Makoto's help. It was going to be an interesting show, albeit a short one. "I'll look into some other options," Megumi promised the lieutenant, "but for now, just relax. I want to make sure everything going on between your ears is normal before doing anything else." On the bright side, Kim wouldn't be able to do much until the Artemis was repaired, her own injuries be damned. Megumi had at least until then to decide whether to expedite the process, or use a less invasive treatment to ease the lieutenant along.

When Hannah attached herself to Brant, again, he smiled, Firmia scowled, and Sasha chuckled. "I bet turning off Galatea would free up plenty of processing power," Firmia growled. It probably wasn't possible, but it would certainly be nice. "Anyway, whether you get an upgrade or I just run part of the processing through the system and then forward it to you, it should still work. You just need to be able to use the information you're getting."

It would definitely be good to simply test the idea, first. Whether they needed a refined setup or an upgrade, the concept itself definitely seemed viable for the moment. "Alright, we'll go up to the Mantle and I'll set everything up. Brant, you get everything setup in the Regalia so there's some actual camera feed to work with."

"Okay, sure."

Hang in There!

"Ah, right, um, I'm 18, actually. Just turned a couple months back..." It was a bit awkward for Makoto to out his age, did he look too young? There was still some growth the teen could do, but he never saw his height as a problem anyways, figuring he would catch up to his dad at the age of 21, probably! "Alright, ah, hope you get better too, Kim! See ya, Doc!" One wave of his arm was enough, and then his attention was back to Christina, whose destination was now given. "Bottom floor, right hall, gotcha!" He led the way, cautious of going too fast, he had to start slow and figure out the rhythm that Christina was comfortable walking. One step and a short pause, until he could see she wasn't struggling, then another. "Uh... is this good enough?" Makoto kept his attention on Christina until they were out of the infirmary door, where he'd gotten used to the new pace.

"Whew, it's already quieter here." Aside from the humming of machinery, the hallways were at their normal level of noise. "I didn't expect the infirmary to be so full, but then again, we didn't expect Apotheosis to show up there... or for Tarquin to leave first. I guess that and me following him caused all you guys hustling to help us, so, uh, sorry about that..." He scratched the back of his head, forcing an awkward smile, though it was hard to not feel a pang of guilt, that he was partially the reason Kim and Christina got so hurt. "...How long have you been with the ANF, Christina? I thought people started older, but it seems most in the Riese actually started it pretty early, like Buck and Tarquin!" They'd reached the elevator in no time, the boy throwing out the question as he pressed a button. It was curious that a pilot could be on missions at such an age... or be a field engineer! It felt a bit embarrassing for Makoto, to think he was 18 and still just starting on a degree...

A Good Samaritan

"Hmm... honestly, I'd love if the doctor could do another check up on my legs. I understand the medicine here is for the crew, but I think I've spent enough time resting..." There was only so much Mai could do, anyways. Her leg had been hurt badly, a broken bone and not a trivial amount of lost blood, but staying at the infirmary of a military crew made her restless. With how much the Riese moved, Mai didn't want to be a bother, but she really needed something to put her mind off, maybe getting a different room, maybe she could get a wheelchair, or a crutch...

Ah, there was her son, interacting with the girls. "Y-yes, thank you. I'm glad he's become this kind. He's always been an energetic kid, but I worried he was getting lonely as he grew up. I'm glad he's talking and helping." Mai felt a bit conflicted, seeing her son being so eager to help, so alive... but it was the military, and he seemed more and more accepting of the idea of risking his life. She couldn't help but wish he had a stronger sense of self-preservation. And these girls... "Hmm, these girls are pilots, huh? At their age?"

Ain't That Hard

Avery considered Thorvald's offer of sticking around the next time, before she guffawed at his claim. "Naw! Yer crazy, Thorvy! Yer girl's seen more damage'n the Artemis over these last fights, an' it got torn t'pieces by that Vera gal. Ain't no way yer gettin' away from that one." One of them was sticking around, was it? "Fancy that... These machines 'ere belong t'the ANF, so... Ain't no shame in havin' a peek. Oi, Buck!" It took a second, but the kid poked his head out from the Crescent Moon, still half smiling.

"What!?"

"What's that there access code fer the Mark IV!?"

"Oh, for... One second!" Buck sat back and slapped the code into his communicator, shoving it at Avery instead of belting it across the room.

"004... Yeesh." 004ML38-ANFGDC. That was one hell of a code. "Where'd ye get that? One o' the pilots share it with ya?"

"I guessed it!" Not wanting to be interrupted with his combat footage any more, Buck shut the cockpit, leaving Avery mildly agape.

"You guessed... Glad he's on our side. Christ. Alright, let's take a looksee inside." Avery went about forwarding the code to the other Legionary, having the lift come down to meet them, and strapping her foot in first. "I'll send it back down right after fer ya. Y'can see iffin the cockpit's a good fit, alright?" Up she went, hat and all.

Useless

Cheryl couldn't help but smile with pity at this girl, her life really had been torn away from her today, hadn't it? If she ever had much of a life to begin with. Elevator going down, Cheryl tried her best. "You don't have to be like this, Talia. But it's going to take some time... From the sounds of things, your whole life was being second place. And none of it was your fault. You were never taught to talk to people, or how to deal with those situations. You're young, though. And all things can be learned, all the same... Everyone makes mistakes. Even Tarquin. I know from your situation he might seem like the best soldier, but he didn't even know how to make toast when he came here." The thought nearly made her giggle, but she caught herself. "So take some time. Try to rest. And try again later. Even if it takes you twenty times to get it right. There's no limit."

Recognized

"Unfortunately, neither of us have the permission to shut off or lower its priority." Hannah smiled in sincerity, glad for the program at times, upset at it in others. For now, it was fine, but Firmia, she seemed upset by something... Was her contact with Brant truly off putting? Oh! It must be that. I see. As they stepped off the lift and into the hangar, Brant headed for the Regalia, Hannah stepped up behind Firmia and gave her a nice, tight hug. "My apologies for neglecting you as well, Firmia." There, that would clear things up, or so she hoped. Certainly that was the problem with the situation, right?

Walk it Off

As soon as they were out of the infirmary, Christina slipped her arm off of Makoto, sighing. "Doctor's too worried. I can walk just fine. The only thing hurting is my head... As much as it's feeling a bit better, now." At least that meant she could chat him up without being too close. Turned out that he was eighteen... Pretty young, then, just like her. What was with the ANF and all these young pilots? Maybe it said something about their life expectancy. "Not very long. I, uh... I guess you can know. Apotheosis kidnapped me after I got shot down. I... Got lucky, when the crew needed to capture someone, and ended up surviving the encounter. Now I help Kim out... Or, so she says." She still didn't feel like she was doing much, but if Kim kept saying it was a help, then she'd keep doing it. She wanted to, anyway. Being able to do anything made being here feel worth it.

The door dinged, Christina stepping inside and smiling at him. "You can come with me, if you want. I'm... Truth be told, I'm trying to focus on you. I... I guess I got hit with some pretty heavy feedback during the fight, and, my TK stuff is going kinda crazy." Explaining how she got to be one would take too much time, and he didn't need the backstory. "You seem pretty optimistic and calm, so it's easy to get a feel for. You're not busy...?"

Val nodded. "Of course. I'm sure that once she is done looking at Lieutenant Kim she can come check your legs. Just because the medicine is predominantly for the crew doesn't mean that we can just ignore your injuries. We've a duty to help you after all. And besides, with how much your son is helping us, it's basically like treating family of the crew." She smiled at the older woman, hoping that she was being reassuring.

"Well, I'm glad as well. It's always nice to have some extra hands. I can't imagine how the Doctor was doing this by herself before. Thankfully we've been lucky enough not to have too many major injuries, but there's always that risk. And yes, those two are both pilots. Well... I believe the one your son is helping is a co-pilot from what I understand, but they're both out in the battle." She was honestly in awe herself over how young some of the pilots were and how well they fought in spite of it all. She could never imagine doing something like that. No, best to stay in here where it was safe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Astin had managed to negotiate the button in the elevator through a creative use of their elbow and had arrived in the hangar just in time to see Hannah giving Firmia a hug. That was... a surprise, but everything with the android was these days. She'd changed so much from the no nonsense defense android that they'd first encountered but Astin supposed that wasn't a bad thing exactly. Shrugging it off, they walked past the pair and started looking around for Avery, just to spot her taking the lift up to one of the new mechs. "Ah..." Well, she was busy they supposed. That stood to reason...
Carefully making their way to a nearby workbench that was relatively clear, Astin unloaded the food they'd brought before making their way over to Thorvald. "Uhm, Avery just went up there, right? Are you going up there too? If so... could you let her know there's food for her on the workbench over there? Nothing crazy but stuff to make a sandwich if she wants it." They had sort of been hoping to have lunch with Avery but looking around they realized that was probably a foolish hope. She was likely just going to be eating while repairing things, and they would just be in the way for that...
"You got it, Olivia. You got me anytime." She waved. "Bye for now then!" With that she walked out of the infirmary. 'EEEEEEEEEE! She's so cute, and nice to talk to! A real keeper!' With that in mind she took out her handy dandy notebook and pen. With a light click and a page turn she started jotting a few things down. 'Olivia...revised from 7.5 to an 8.5. Put directly to the bird watch list...' Aliza turned a page to a very special looking page...
Watch list
Captain Jess
Olivia
There was another name but it was scribbled out, perhaps that didn't work out? Either way she closed her book with a cat like grin. "I feel better now...much better." She put the book away and walked down the hall, completely and entirely content. However as she walked along she remembered she had one more piece of business to tend to: Thanking the pilot who talked her into fighting. If it wasn't for her Hicks might have died too, so... "I guess I'll ask around..." She went off to find said pilot.
"Very well, if that think best. Just want make sure ready deploy if ambush again." Kim replied, settling deeper into the hospital bed after being rebuffed by the doctor. As much as she wanted to be out and about trying to do... something or other towards solving this mess, it was up to the Doctor's discretion whether to give her any expedited treatment. With Apotheosis able to arrive on the turn of a dime, the wait and see approach felt off, even if it was the proper approach for a medical professional most of the time.
"How frequent Apotheosis show, probably have end up use SIEG again anyway. Not courtesy enough let heal natural be option."
It was only a few minutes, but the passing of time for Elaine slowed as she relaxed in the refreshing waters of the Jacuzzi. It felt like it was far longer. Elaine opened her eyes. Had she dozed off? If so, it was good that she hadn't sunken beneath the water in her sleep. Elaine looked around. She was still the only one present at the pool, though she wasn't entirely sure it had been that way the entire time.
Elaine took a few more moments before slowly stepping out of the tub, careful not to slip off of the small set of steps. She switched off everything and closed up the tub, then went to go find a towel to dry herself off with. Elaine felt relaxed from the hot water, her stress having melted away, if only slightly. And that was enough to brighten up her spirits. It almost made her forget everything that was going on in her life. Almost.
A few more moments was all it took to dry herself with a towel, and off she went back to the changing rooms to get back into her pilot suit. Really, she wanted to be able to dress back up in more casual clothes, but that wasn't something she could afford to do with danger lurking around every corner. It was a shame, but comfort wasn't the highest priority. Though, if that were the case, Elaine probably shouldn't have gone into a hot tub with the possible danger that more terrorists could start attacking. Well, something to keep in mind, I guess. Better one person caught with their pants down then the entire crew.
Apotheosis indeed wasn't in the habit of giving their enemies much time to recuperate. It would probably be a lot worse than it was if they had more people. More skilled people, that is. The tide really might be turning soon, either way. What Kim seemed to be getting at was that Apotheosis would be showing up again soon enough, that a forced healing was needed and not just preferable. Megumi approached the lieutenant's bed, still turning over the options in her mind. "How's your pain level on a scale of one to ten? One being 'I could care less' ... ten being 'Andromeda Protocol.'"
Brant heard the strangest sound from back near the hangar entrance on his way up to the Regalia's cockpit. Some yelling in Russian ensued as he stepped onto the lift. Brant turned around just in time to see Firmia squirming in Hannah's grasp. They weren't death throes or anything of that nature, so the TK's initial concerns evaporated, allowing him to enjoy the amusing sight whilst he was whisked up to the Regalia. Fortunately, the shield was repaired. No more exposed missile module to worry about~
Once he was in the cockpit, Brant started up some of the systems, but nothing that would give the mechanics the wrong impression. Though all the cameras and sensors came online together, the Regalia's optical sensors only glowed dimly. Now he just had to wait for Firmia and Hannah to finish setting up. It looked like it would be a moment or two before they even started ...
Brant took a moment to try to iron out his plan. He couldn't get Firmia to back down by arguing: His preferences were practically immaterial in wartime, and his history with her made Firmia especially useful as a copilot. That she knew how to pilot every mobile suit the Alkaev company had ever produced almost went without saying. Brant did have the option of just saying no, and then calling on Jessica to back him up ... but for him, that was the equivalent of Firmia saying yes and locking down the Regalia until she got her way. It was just as petty, but more importantly, she hadn't taken things that far, so Brant wouldn't, either. The way he saw it, the best way for him to win the argument was to have Firmia agree to a wager, one where she was at a disadvantage. It was only a slight disadvantage, but that was all Brant needed. Getting her to agree to it, and then getting launch clearance, though ... that might be tricky.
"Hrg-GAH!!!" There was something especially unnerving about being taken by an opponent that was mentally 'invisible' to you. With anyone else, she would have at least felt something coming, but with Hannah, Firmia found herself trapped and helpless. <"N-neglect?! What are you talking about?! I don't want to be crushed to death! Let go!">
Try as he might, Sasha's snickering was definitely reaching his employer's ears. He might have had an easier time suppressing his amusement if he hadn't also been recording. Tonya deserved to hear this hilarity, too.
"Pain? If lay back not do anything... two, two-half. Actively move... five, six maybe if sharp." Kim estimated when Megumi asked about her current pain levels. It was hard to give an accurate upper ceiling without deliberately aggravating her wounds... something she highly doubted the Doctor would be too keen on. Still, she seemed to be actively thinking on it, which was better than a come back to it later approach.
Heavy Load
"Ah... Okay!" That made things less awkward, at least, and Makoto could lead the way with less of a hassle if she wasn't struggling to walk. As Christina confessed her origins --as far as piloting for the Riese was concerned, even Makoto's optimistic self couldn't help but be a bit staggered: He'd opened his mouth as she'd confirmed being kidnapped by Apotheosis, but held his words and blinked, thinking on how best to word it. It was a pretty heavy load. "So, uh... you were forced to fight for them?" From the way Christina worded that the crew needed to capture someone, it seemed to imply that much. "That sounds horrible, at least... you're okay now, yeah? We'll give them a beating back for that!" It was still jarring that Apotheosis would just force people to fight for their cause against their will... did that mean some of the enemies they fought... I-I don't want to think about that!
Taking in a deep breath as he stepped into the elevator, Makoto tried to push the thoughts away for something brighter, it just wasn't like him to worry that much, and if they could do anything to help other people captured, surely it'd come up eventually. They were the good guys! "H-Huh? Uh..." Christina's invitation, presumably to her room, had certainly taken the boy by surprise, hiding a slight blush as the opportunity presented itself to turn away for the sake of choosing their destination floor. A girl asking a boy to her room was very intimate... in Japan, and Makoto ended up taking the memo from his parents, but this was neither Japan nor their apartment in Colony 1. "Well, if it helps, of course!" He'd taken a moment to pinch the side of his cheek discreetly before turning to Christina. "I'm not busy at all! I'm... not officially a pilot yet, so I've just been poking my nose around, really." Maybe it was for the best, even if he had no idea how that would pan out...
Last Stop
"Sorry... If that sounds weird or anything. I don't have any other motives, I'm just trying to push this headache away. Maybe I can explain better once I get back to my room, it's... A lot to go over, probably won't make too much sense." She hadn't wanted to, but instead of having him blush and get the wrong impression, it'd help them both to get Makoto on the right path. The elevator dinged, doors opening, and Christina hopped out... The bottom floor didn't seem very loud. Only Makoto was coming through to her brain, which made this a lot easier to deal with. She sighed, her headache fading almost instantly. "So much better... Alright, this way." She'd said that, but there was suddenly this... Very defeated emotion coming through. Must've been that Talia girl... It wasn't as strong as before, so she could deal with it.
Hrg-gah?
What a strange noise. "Firmia? What is the problem?" She wasn't squeezing the girl, Hannah had become very good at hugs rather quickly, and she knew Firmia could definitely breathe just fine. "If you were not upset because I was not showing you the same affection as Brant then--" The proverbial lightbulb went off in Hannah's harddrive, staring up at nothing and letting Firmia go. "Oh, my gosh." She looked back down at Firmia, almost chuckling but definitely smiling. "You are jealous of me." That had to be it... Why else would she be mad about Hannah's hugging Brant? It did not make any other sense to her. "Let us proceed to testing if this will work, then." Hannah stepped past her and over to the Mantle, waiting for Firmia to open it up.
Thorvald had laughed along with Avery, given that it really was deserved, and then waved a hand as she took first lift up to take a looksee inside the latest model Legionary. Hearing about Buck's little feat of mental strength had been a bit interesting too, he'd have to catalogue that away. Whole lot of talented youngsters, this crew had, no doubt about it.
With his focus on the robot, Thorvald hadn't really noticed Astin's approach until he'd been called out to. "Oh, Astin, good to see you," he answered with a casual nod and standard smile. The question of 'what brings you down here' had been preempted by the explanation regarding the lunch fixings. "Yeah, I was gonna head on up just as soon as she sent the lift back down, and can certainly pass along the message. You want me to send her down for it right away? Wasn't anything urgent going on with this one, well, unless you consider 'curiosity' to be urgent, haha."
"Oh, uhm, no, no need to interrupt. I just know that she can get stuck in the hangar a lot and not necessarily take care of herself so..." Astin waved a hand at everything going on in the bay. "There's lots for her to do here, so I don't want to distract her or anything. Just... make sure that she's not here until midnight or later without eating." Hopefully he wouldn't question too hard why they were bringing her food and trying to take care of her. Astin still wasn't sure exactly how ok everyone would be with their relationship. Technically it wasn't against any rules, but it did tend to be frowned upon. The fact that Avery wasn't out in the field helped some, but still...
Thorvald shrugged as Astin tried almost too hard to speak up against the idea. "Well, I wouldn't want Buck or someone to get to it before she did, but yeah. No pressure then, I'll just let her know and see what goes on from there." Turning to the bench in question, it didn't look like a mountain of food to begin with. Definitely more of a personal delivery than intending to feed the whole mechanic crew. Which of course, tied in well with Avery's explanation of yesterday's events as well. Wasn't really his business to say anything more on the matter.
"I suppose given your Ceres, you're not all that interested at taking a look at the Mark IV for yourself, or are you?" A little idle chatter to pass the time and dispel any potential awkward silences.
Shocking
A familiar ball cap poked out of the cockpit, smiling down at what she saw. "Heyyyy, darlin'! That all fer me? Geez, yer too nice. Thorvy, get yerself up here. See iffin ye like the cockpit. I'll take a few." Avery rode the wire backdown, the machine had obviously turned back on at this point. Stepping off the lift with a nice, wide grin, Avery whistled. "Well, geez, ain't never had someone wait on me like this. That's real gracious of ye... Thanks." The gesture had evidently made her blush, something that wasn't a norm for her. "I can take a minute t'eat it, iffin ye wanna stick around. You want some too?"
"Mmm, I guess I see your point, but it should be fine..." Astin gave a small shrug, thankful when Thorvald switched the topic. "No, I can't say I have much interest... I mean, they're nice bots, but they're a bit bulky for me, you know? I prefer the Ceres. A decent bit of bulk but still fast enough for me." They were maybe going to say a few more things, but then they were interrupted. By being called darling. "Ah, Avery, I...." Blushing, they turned back towards the food, and gave a small shrug. "I just... I didn't want you to spend so much time working here without eating. That's all. Need to make sure you're taking care of yourself, that's all."
No Ulterior Motives!
"N-no, it's fine! I figure it has to do with your headache! Haha..." Old habits died hard, Makoto ended up scratching the back of his head as the awkwardness piled up. Ugh, he was one thousand years too early to act smooth and friendly like Seigiranger Black! "But yeah, I don't really get how this TK stuff works, so I'm trusting what you're saying." He tried to encourage her with a thumbs up. Whatever was going on with Christina's brain was beyond him, but it seemed that Makoto's positivity was helping, so hey!
Ah, so they were getting to the rooms... one of them was Christina's, huh. Would he be getting one too, eventually. Ah, there was also the question of how they looked! Were they customizable? Well, Makoto'd find out as soon as he entered Christina's... a dry gulp followed as they neared the door. "Hoo... are the rooms big inside?" Makoto had to wonder, with the spacing between each. "Oh and, uh, when you're not piloting, what do you like to do?" Maybe getting a sense of her hobbies would give them a good way to kill time.
Thorvald had been nodding along as Astin got to talking, then had to choke back a laugh as they turned bright pink by being called out to. "Well, enjoy your lunches, I guess that just means more Legionary for me," he grinned and clapped Avery on the shoulder as she got off the lift, then took her place on it. Time to give these lovebirds some privacy.
As he rode up however, his stomach started to rumble, reminding him that he had yet to eat as well. Perhaps that would be a docket item for after prodding around in the new machine for a bit.
The lieutenant certainly wasn't going to be getting any piloting done with numbers like those, not unless she was flying by remote, anyway. Megumi could only sigh at the report. "During our last go around, I assumed you getting all banged up was going to be a rare occurrence, but I'm going to have to be more careful going forward. You too .... Okay, I want to keep your SIEG exposure as low as I can this time, so I'll need you to point out the exact areas that are giving you the most trouble once our monitoring's done."
"Yes, 'jealous,'" Firmia scowled, "I'd love to be as cutesy and brazen as you and still be taken seriously." That obviously wasn't what Hannah was on about, but Firmia had been under this kind of scrutiny before, and was reasonably good at rolling with or around it. She'd trained with Brant for months on end, so the staff could never get off of that line of reasoning. It was especially silly on those rare occasions when Brant got his machine shot to pieces to protect her. Sadly it only ever bought Firmia a few seconds at the most.
Dima was the Devil.
"Yeah, let's hurry up to the cockpit." Firmia had no problem getting back to business, though there was Sasha to deal with, as well. "Don't just giggle over there. Go get the rippers moved over to the Regalia's dock."
Sasha sighed. "Ma'am," he nodded, heading for the least busy looking mechanics to get their help.
"Certainly not intention... all more reason can't sit back infirmary. Need get better make sure not keep happen." Kim replied with a sigh as Megumi commented on the relative frequency of her infirmary visits... thinking about it, the other pilots hadn't spent much time in this place, had they...? Well in either case, based on the Doctor's statement, it seemed that frequent exposure to SIEG could have negative consequences.
"Mostly chest and stomach give issue."
Lunch Time
"Sounds like yer tryin'a convince yerself more'n convince me. Y'just can't keep yerself away from me, can ye~?" Avery snickered, waving Thorvald off as he want to check out his hopefully new ride. "Hey, uh... Mind iffin I'm honest?" Avery smiled awkwardly, not really sure what to say. "Normally I, uh... These're, just one night stand sorta ordeals... But, even iffin I was drunk, I... I meant it, I really-- fuck, this is hard, huh?" Shaking her head and groaning out any butterflies, she tried again. "Look, I ain't never tried this datin' nonsense, but yer prolly one'a the nicest people I ever met. An'... Well hell, It's real nice havin' someone I can turn to t'rely on an' stuff. An' iffin I can help you feel happy too, then... Even better. Right?" Awkward explanation out of the way, she smiled again, trying to work her brain back into normal order. "So... Yeah! Jus' wanted to clear that up without all that alcohol floatin' in th'system. Sound good...?"
No?
Hannah was back to confused, what was it if it wasn't jealousy? Hannah tried to figure out what was going on with Firmia, and unable to come to a satisfying conclusion, looked at her again as she approached the Mantle. "Then what is it? I do not understand. If you are not jealous, then my affection for Brant should not cause you to frown and scowl as you do. I do not think I can puzzle out an answer myself... Would you please explain? I do not wish for Galatea to latch onto this and cause issues with my processing. It is very stubborn about letting go of things that I cannot figure out..." Hannah's concern was as clear on her face as the grin was a moment ago, an issue like this could eventually clog her processors.
Hobbies
"You really don't need to be this nervous, Makoto..." Christina almost felt sorry for him. She thought that she'd end up being the awkward one, but she was having to play brave with how he seemed. Was it really that big a deal? It felt like it... "Me? Er, I... I actually really like video games, but, it doesn't really seem appropriate to sit down and grind through an RPG. That and, well, I don't have any here with me. Didn't exactly take any along with me..." She stepped into the room and immediately went for her clothes drawer, fishing out some pants and another sweater, hoping to get out of the medical gown. "Hey, so, you can sit down anywhere you want, or stand, or whatever. I wanna get into some normal clothes, but... Feel free to watch TV or fiddle with the colors or anything." She motioned at the panel near the door, hoping he knew how to configure things. "Figure that'll keep you entertained for a minute or two while I get these on." With a small smile she disappeared into the bathroom, ready to forget about being in an infirmary bed.
