Clash of Cold Steel (TLS Thread)

Three nearly identical messages were sent to three different members of a certain rebel group on earth, asking them the same thing.

"Dear Ryuto/Jesus/Aaron,

We have noticed your talents and skills of your use of your mecha. We would like to invite you to take place in a special operation that you may find worth your time, involving the theft of a new Griekian prototype mecha we could use and take apart. Come to the New York branch of the TLS via the Underground Railroad. A digital ticket is attached, so you won't have to go through security, and your mecha and personal belongings will be sent as well. We hope you can take part in our operation.

-The Leader"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryuto sat on the bullet train miles under the earth, itching for the ride to end. The message was interesting him. After his father's death, his notes and ideas had dissapeared, and Ryuto thought they had just been destroyed. But considering some of the new types of mecha the Grieks were producing, maybe they stole and plagiarized them?

Aaron was annoyed when the stewardess told him the hot dogs on the train weren't kosher. However, he couldn't find any real reason to complain, seeing as though the Grieks decided to take after Hollywood aliens and plunder cattle from farmers. He looked at the young Japanese girl standing by his seat. "A chicken sandwich, then. Without cheese, it would go against my religion otherwise." In the few minutes between his order and the delivery thereof, he looked at the mysterious letter he received. Leviathan has only really been tested once, and I'm still not sure about the air to orbit missile. Hopefully, I won't need to use it for a long time. The stewardess returned with the breaded chicken sandwich, with the requested lack of cheese. "Thank you, stewardess." He heard an announcement over the intercom. "We are now crossing the Prime Meridian." He blessed the sandwich, broke it in half, ate one half, and sealed the other inside a bag. "It won't be long now." The background appears to turn black as a blue and grey dragon head seemingly appears and roars.

Jesús was at his seat. With his eyes closed and head leaning slightly forward, one could almost mistake him for being asleep. If only he could actually afford that. Even to this day he was not used to it, being underground. So he always tried to ignore it, as best he could. Regardless, he would be quite glad once back on the surface. And besides, he had this future assignment to think about to distract himself.

Quite nuts, stealing a prototype, he was thinking, but I suppose it must be done.

Soon, Ryuto's train ride from Japan was over, and he had arrived in New York. Ryuto silently thanked himself for taking English as a second language. The letter had included directions to wait at the station for an Jewish middle-aged man and a young Mexican man (Jesus's and Aaron's letters included similar directions to look for a Japanese teenaged boy named Ryuto) named Aaron and Jesus, respectively, before heading to the TLS's hidden base in Central Park. So Ryuto waited at an area in the middle of the Underground Railroad's station. He had a few sheets of paper on him, so he did what chauffeur's did, at least before the war, and put their names on a sign and held it up, waiting.

The train from Nazareth pulled in not long after Aaron had put his chicken sandwich away. He saw a sign that said "Ryuto" on it, and he ventured to it, seeing a young Japanese man. "Konichiwa" spoke Aaron, hoping his Hebrew accent didn't butcher the pronunciation of the traditional greeting.

Jesús left the train once it had arrived at the station. Despite México City being the closest to New York between the three departing areas, or so he figured, he knew that doesn't guarantee he would be the first to arrive. He paid close attention to both the platforms and arriving trains.

He finally spotted them, with amusement at seeing the sign, in one of the platforms. He ignored if he had arrived first or not, but well, that ultimately did not mattered.

"Hey," he merely waved a hand once he was close enough.

Looking over to where the call came from, Aaron looked to see a latino man over the Mexico city arrival sign. Looking at the instructions, he saw Jesus was coming from Mexico City. I keep forgetting that not every country has had their capital destroyed. "What are you waiting for? Passover? Come on over."

"Hello! You're... Jesus?" says Ryuto, but he accidentally pronounces it like the Biblical one rather than the Spanish way.

Despite for his discomfort for being below ground level, Jesús managed to chuckle slightly.

"Yeah, but you might want to say it differently," joking about it was almost tempting, but he decided on otherwise.

"Well now, shall we get going?" The sooner we leave this place, the better.

"Yeah, we should head to Central Park ASAP." Ryuto then began to walk up the stairs. "So, you two are both TLS, right? So what'd you do to get noticed by this Leader person?"

"Probably for something I did recently," Jesús shrugged. He himself wasn't quite sure, being honest.

"Or perhaps my unit was deemed suitable for the operation. From the looks of it," he glanced at Aaron's picture again, "both his and mine are water-capable, so that might be telling us something about this operation."

"Well, mine isn't aquatic." Ryuto pulls out his cell phone, pulling up a picture of Fafnir. "It's pretty dang powerful, but it's not aquatic."

"Maybe we were grouped together because are named after giant, man-eating monsters? Think about it: we're all named after mythological entities that just happen to make frequent meals of people. We'll know when we actually get above ground. We should probably get going before too long." Aaron casually strode up the concrete steps, reminiscing about his days in training, and how easy climbing these steps was compared to his hike across Mount Carmel.

"Agreed." Ryuto grabbed his bag and started heading up the stairs into the office building that served as cover for the Underground Railroad's platform.
