Kebe
Chapter dump: Chapter 21: 3/143 Spoiler Featuring the first Warp use in the playthrough. Prayer Wyverns are a pain in the butt, but killing their leader makes them run away, so Tina warps Homer down to do just that, and probably kill the boss along the way. After Homer does his thing, Tina rushes towards the throne, rescuing Leaf for the seize on Turn 3. Nanna and Finn bought some Wind tomes, but I severely overestimated how much more combat the rest of the playthrough would have. Chapter 21x: free (4+12)/143 Spoiler The final opportunity to use Saphy's Hammerne. I end up Hammerning the Earth Sword, Thief Staff, and a slightly used Rescue Staff, all ended up being good investments. Chapter 22: 5/148 Spoiler Oh boy this chapter. There are a lot of things to say about this chapter. Firstly, 19 Leadership stars hurt, and basically need to be dealt with quickly. The easiest way to do this is to have a unit perform an action in a certain radius close to Cyas, which makes him go away by the next enemy phase. There's one problem about doing this on Turn 1, however: said radius is within another radius which triggers a bridge to the throne to go away, and I simply can't get Tina over that bridge in one turn. There's also the huge Mage Knight squad led by Rinehart, which needs to be dealt with before Tina arrives. I end up warping Nanna over to the area near the throne so she can deal with the enemies there. She has to dismount so she doesn't get destroyed by the Horseslayer Paladins surrounding Cyas. She also makes sure to preemptively dismount and Holy Water up as to not trigger the aforementioned cutscenes. This does mean she has to deal with the Leadership stars in full force, though. Wrath + Earth Sword doesn't work if Nanna doesn't hit, and she has a hard time hitting most things through the 19 Leadership stars. However, assuming she's able to get through the Paladins and Ballista with a decent amount of HP, she can easily obliterate the Mage Knight squad even with their avoid bonus. She then has to deal with Rinehart. Rinehart is a tough cookie for a few reasons. He nearly kills Nanna with either Dime Thunder or the Master Sword, and he has a ridiculous assortment of skills, the worst offenders being Big Shield and Ambush. 5 movement stars can also spell Nanna's doom. Nanna's best chance to beat him is to not land a Wrath crit on Turn 1 EP, since that just lets him Vulnerary up on Turn 2 EP. Rather, she should try to land a regular hit on Turn 1 EP and Wrath crit him on Turn 2 EP. She somehow needs to heal up on Turn 2, either with a Vulnerary, or by landing some Earth Sword hits on Coenn (the boss). There's other ways that Nanna can end Rinehart, but they're much less likely to happen. Anyways, while Nanna has the time of her life, Tina and Homer get across the bridge on Turn 2, allowing Nanna to activate the cutscene via attacking the boss. However, Tina cannot fend off the Armor and Bow Knight league that precedes the throne, and Homer can't help her since he has his eyes on the Rescue Staff village. Thus, Tina Rescues Finn over to help deal distract the impeding enemies. The Armors like to attack Finn since he does less damage per hit than Tina, and the Bow Knights like to attack Finn since he can't retaliate. This allows Tina to pass through pretty easily. After Shiva grabs the Warp village and Homer grabs the Rescue village, Tina Rescues Leaf for the seize. This was a fun chapter to play. I usually cheese this chapter, so actually having to deal with the Leadership stars proved to be a challenge indeed. Chapter 23: 2/150 Spoiler Thank goodness a flyer managed to escape in Chapter 19. Eda, with assistance from Lara, gets a Rescue Staff to Cyas, who Rescues Tina. Tina moves closer to the throne, triggering Ced in the process. She also steals a Sleep Staff from a Dark Mage so he wouldn't sleep Lara. After Ced whisks the enemy team away with a gust of wind, Tina Rescued Leaf. Leaf talked to Ced, Eda transfered the Rescue staff from Cyas to Ced, Ced Rescued Lara, Lara danced Leaf, and Leaf seized. Chapter 24: 2/152 Spoiler Galzus actually saving a turn here. Homer opens the door leading to the throne, while Ced, with Lara's help, moves up the corridor, Rescuing Mareeta so she can recruit Galzus. Tina steals a Sleep Staff in the process. On Turn 2, Mareeta recruited Galzus, Galzus killed a Hero in Ced's way, Ced Rescued Leaf, Leaf killed Reidrick, and Tina warped Lara up so Leaf can seize on the same turn. Despite being only 2 turns, this strategy is surprisingly easy to ruin if the RNG decides to not cooperate. Edit: Wow, I have no idea why the frame rate on this one is so bad. The other ones seem fine, however. Also don't know what I did to make some of these "HD" quality. Kebe
FINALLY! Final Chapter: 3/155 Warning: 2:30 - 4:47 in the video consists of hardcore RNG abuse. Watch at your own risk. One of my least favorite mechanics of Thracia 776 is the fact that you cannot manipulate a chapter's starting formation unless you manipulate unit ordering chapters beforehand. I had managed to make this a non-factor for most of the playthrough, but there's no way for me to get the favorable starting formations for both Chapter 24 and this chapter without going to Chapter 24x (lol). Chapter 24 absolutely needs the favorable formation, so this chapter suffers as a result. There are a few factors which conspire to make this chapter as painful as possible. I only have one Rescue use remaining, which must be used on Leaf. Thus, the bosskiller, in addition to either Tina or Ced, must start out in Leaf's group, since it's the one closest to the throne. This already poses a problem, since Ced is the best option to kill Veld in the first place. Regardless, formation works out such that Galzus, the 2nd best option, is the designated bosskiller, while Tina is in position to Rescue. Alright, with the bosskilling figured out, now comes the difficult part: unlocking Veld's room on Turn 3, which can only be done if each of the 6 groups stands on a trigger tile by Turn 2, guarded by 6 Dreadlords. Each group has its fair amount of RNG to deal with. Starting at the top right room, the Sara clone has a Berserk staff which she tends to target Galzus with. This is no good, and I can't sleep her, so killing her is the only option, made more difficult by the fact she has Prayer. There's also the fact that only two units start in that group, so Tina has to Unlock the room on Turn 1, since Shiva can't actually attack the Sara clone otherwise. Shiva is accurate, and his accuracy is improved further thanks to Solar Sword's proc guaranteeing a hit... unless the target procs Prayer. He does it well enough though. Next, at the top left room stands a Berserk Sword Rogue. Homer is the best of the two units over there to take him down, but magic floor is broken, so Homer can't damage him too well. The Rogue also attacks Homer on Turn 1 EP, and the run is over if Homer gets hit. Thankfully, the chances are in his favor, and Tina has the opportunity to sleep the Rogue on Turn 2, letting Homer kill him with ease while Ronan triggers the spot. The bottom left room premieres Ced, Parne, and the Briggid clone. Ced can't actually participate in combat on Turn 1 PP, for a reason you'll see soon, but the door still needs to be opened so he can start attacking on EP. However, Tina can't really afford to Unlock the door over here considering her other priorities. Parne can open the door (obviously), but if he doesn't move out of the way, the Briggid clone will smash him. So, a movement star proc is necessary (and it's not the last one either...). Ced ends up sleeping the Dagdar clone on Turn 1 PP. On Enemy Phase, the Dark Mage within the room Fenrirs Parne, although he survives. The Briggid clone also attacks Ced, and Ced can easily kill as long as her Prayer doesn't proc. On Turn 2, Ced kills the Dark Mage in the way, and Parne gets the spot. The bottom right group is one of the weakest groups overall, featuring Illios and Finn. Finn has crappy combat indoors, while Illios has an extremely hard time against the Bow Armors. After Finn opens the door and Illios smashes the Dark Mage inside, Illios enters a really precarious enemy phase. He faces 4 Master Bows shots at 60ish hit, and 1 Fenrir blast at 70ish hit, and he must dodge 3/5 of the hits. Considering Eins and his 4 Leadership Stars don't die on Turn 1, Illios basically has to rely solely on Prayer for the dodges he needs, which is a lot more unreliable than one may think. The last thing we need is for the Dagdar clone to make everything even more unreliable, so Ced sleeps him. Sleeping the warrior also allows Illios to easily dispatch him on Turn 2, with Finn getting the tile. The bottom middle features Tina, Leaf, and Galzus. However, Tina and Galzus both have to rush towards the throne, leaving Leaf to actually deal with the room. Galzus does assist slightly by killing one of the armors with Master Axe through the wall, while Leaf opens the door. On EP, Leaf has to kill Eins, which is easy enough thanks to the power of the Blaggi Sword. Another problem arised in this recording though, and that's the fact that the other armor attacked Leaf instead of Galzus. As far as I can tell, the armor does usually go for Galzus. Normally, Leaf can just walk to the spot, but since the armor blocks him, a movement star is necessary. This leaves the top middle room, with Marty and Lara. The Galzus clone instantaneously obliterates both of them, so Tina has to sleep him Turn 1 (this, in conjunction with the Unlock needed on the top right room, means Tina must proc a movement star). Afterwards, Marty has to hit 3/4 Brave Axe hits to kill the Armors on EP. This is easy in theory, but since this is Marty we are talking about, it's harder than you would think. Then, on Turn 2, Marty can capture the Galzus clone, letting Lara grab the tile. So after Turn 2 EP, Veld reveals himself, and now the bosskill can commence. Thrones are broken, so Galzus can't actually kill Veld without some combination of skill procs + Criticals. However, he's Galzus, so he can do it relatively reliably. Regardless, in this particular recording, Galzus just misses out on the kill. After a bit of panicking on my part, I throw Tina in to see if she could kill him, and she manages to do so, surprisingly. However, a Dark Mage that blocks the direct path to the throne means a movement star would be necessary to 3 turn the chapter, but whatever, I was too far in already. Two movement stars ended up being necessary, since Galzus didn't kill Veld. After Tina Rescued Leaf, Leaf finishes out the game by seizing. The end of the journey is finally here. --- Now time for unit ratings, I guess: Spoiler Light Sword is a pretty good unit, would repair again Finn is a really nice unit of course, but he starts to drop off as the endgame approaches, and he's pretty bad at indoor combat. Regardless, he definitely is a good pick, and it's not to hard to keep his Brave Lance (and thus most of his viability) intact for the entire game. Prayer is also really clutch, especially when compounded by the +10 Luck from the Brave Lance. He's just a good guy. Marty could be worse. He's obviously a bad unit, but he has a few things going for him. His join time gives him nice opportunities to train. Warrior promotion gains, featuring +5 Skl and +5 Spd, are really good, and (slightly) make up for his lackluster bases. But most importantly, he has D Rank Axes, and thus the Brave Axe. This allows him to ORKO enemies, which is very nice indeed. He obviously does nothing better compared to the other Axe Bros, and his growths really don't help his situation, but if one is really dedicated to him, he can get stuff done. Ronan was a pretty good pick. His early game combat is nothing too bad, and he can get the Speed Ring to save a turn in Chapter 2 (assuming the Speed Ring isn't skipped). However, his bases and growths are pretty bad for anything outside of mage combat, and it starts to show once you get him back for Chapter 8. However, he did have his moment to shine, namely in Chapter 12x, where magic is a necessary stat to be immune to Tina's Thief Staff. Combined with the design of the chapter favoring archers, he really did well in that chapter, so I guess he was worth it. Lara is a nice thief in Manster, and a nice dancer after 12x. Nothing else really to say. Nanna is a pretty good unit when invested into. Wrath is a skill that really turns a decent unit into a great unit, and Nanna, with her Earth Sword, is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Wrath Manual. Once she has that, she can destroy enemies with ease, recovering damage taken in the process. Her biggest contribution was probably in Chapter 22, where she has to deal with the entirety of Rinehart and his squad. She is only really good with Wrath, since it makes up for her rather lackluster offensive bases and growths. It'd also be nice if she had an actual staff rank. Still a great unit. Shiva is one of the best swordfighters in the game, with nice skills, growths, bases, and PCC. He was useful here and there. Good unit. Tina is also really good. The only real staff user until Ced arrives, she also has really solid movement growth, and staves on wheels is really broken. Would be nice if she had a Skill stat, though. Parne was slightly underwhelming, since Shiva is already a pretty good infantry sword unit, and stealing didn't come too handy in this playthrough. Probably best thief, though. Homer has broken growths and PCC in a broken class. His weapon ranks are bad outside of Light, but he was really instrumental in most of the later bosskills. Would have been even more broken if his lover didn't take the Wrath Manual from him. Illios did some things here and there, and he has nice skills. His combat isn't too fantastic though, and his Build/Speed is pretty bad compared to the rest of the army at this point, but he was still a good pick. Ced is Ced. Galzus is Galzus. Too much of a chump to kill Veld, though. Shoutouts also go to Eyvel, Brighton, Fergus, Cyas, and Robert. They know what they did. Well, it was nice giving Thracia another run. It always manages to be a fun challenge. It may have its low points, but what Fire Emblem game doesn't? Regardless, I'm just glad it's over. Gradivus.
Endgame 4/159 turns Starting positions: Ced, Hicks top-left; Dean, Tanya top-centre; Sara, Machua top-right Fergus bottom-left; Leif, Dagdar bottom-centre; Linoan, Lara bottom-right This took every unit I had. Ced warped Hicks into the Sniper's room. Linoan rescued Tanya down, who then killed the Druid in the bottom-right room, and then warped her into that room upon getting danced. Sara warped Machua into Elf's room so she can kill her with 2 brave sword hits, at 68 hit (this is absolutely necessary). Leif, Dagdar and Fergus just marched towards the throne room, and Leif used a Pure Water so he can kill the Knights within Raydrik clone's room with a Fire sword wrath crit. Turn 2, Ced rewarped into Zwölf's room. Tanya finished Drei off because she didn't double crit him (thank god she got B bows for killer bow in the first place). Machua killed a Druid who moved on the seal tile in her room. Dean got warped into Eins' room by Sara and killed the Druid there. Linoan then warped Lara to Sara so Sara can rewarp herself into Zwei's room. EP, a lot of units killed or survived shitty armor knights in their rooms. Leif killed most Berserkers with wrath crits and King sword!Fergus support. Zwölf stole a rewarp staff from Ced, moving off his tile. Zwei should also have suicided on Sara via Lightning crit, but I think she missed. Fünf died to Hicks, which is made possible by a sleep staff used by Sara, who has to get a mov star for that on turn 1 or 2 (not a terrible chance). Eins also went off his tile to attack Dean. Turn 3, Ced moved on his tile and used a Sleep staff on Zwei so Sara can ORKO and Linoan rewarped on the top-centre tile. Everyone else went on their seal tiles aswell and Leif, Fergus and Dagdar just advanced. Turn 4, Dagdar killed a generic Druid and Fergus King sworded Veld down. Leif seized. Unit evaluations: Spoiler Leif: pretty good lord, with wrath he had very good EP combat, especially with magic swords. Overall very solid. Dagdar: very good early on, filler later (which is still extremely important on some maps) Tanya: she was very important for endgame and probably contributed a bit throughout the game. I don't even remember. Lara: dancer/99 Fergus: great unit, 5 PCC, access to many good sword, good stats and great availability. Everything you could ask for, except flight and staves. He also has the rare Blaggi sword access, which came in handy. Machua: mostly a filler, but pretty good at that. 6 mov was pretty mediocre though. Dalshin, Kain: Dumped/10 Hicks: those stats lol. Sadly they pale on indoor maps when you can only use swords with poor PCC. He could still do some nice things, but he wasn't excellent once outdoor combat stopped being important (and generally once Dean entered the game). Linoan: I was somewhat worried about her staff rank, but it all worked out when I got my hands on Fortify staves in C20. Thus, I could use her as a warper from C21 on and didn't even have to promote her. Her combat was totally outclassed by Sara. Dean: read doga backwards Sara: Miracle + capped spd/lck is way dodgier than Ced can ever dream of, and with wrath she could reliably kill most enemies. A thunder tome was mostly good enough for her once she had the luck to use miracle properly. Miranda: lol Ced: Gotoh+50/
