Anyone else disappointed by the "Rise of the Deliverance" weapons?

Recommended Posts

So last night I completed all 4 maps and got the bonus weapons for not losing any units. I was really looking forward to seeing Python's Bow and Fernand's Lance then I got them and realized that they're just renamed Iron and steel weapons with slightly better stats. Anyone else disappointed by this? I was expecting some cool looking weapons that could maybe even forge into better ones. I really hope that the Cipher weapons like the whimsical lance aren't just renamed weapons that are already in the game.

Side note: In what order do the deliverance maps happen in? I can tell the first one happens first because Slayda is a cavalier and the last one happens last as its set right before Lukas goes to get Alm but what about the other two? Where do they fit in? I thought the southern outpost was lost after the castle?

Hard to say where Mathilda and Clair's fits in, but it definitely happens before Zofia Castle. Southern Outpost is the last one to happen.

The DLC weapons start with terrible Might and cost more than average to forge, which makes them pretty much post game and therefore pointless. At least Fernand's Lance has Windsweep and Longarch, which means it's good at chipping with Arts. A good support option for one of your Whitewings maybe. Clive's Lance is just a worse Silver Lance. Clair's Lance is meh, since it costs 1 more Gold to get it to 4 Might compared to the regular Blessed Lance. The Res boost is cool, but not necessary, nor is Mistdancer.

Agreed, at least Clives lance has really high MT. I also just realized that the supports arent voiced. This DLC has really let me down. The backstory isn't very interesting nor are the memory prisms, the support conversations arent voiced and the weapons are just copies with different stats. I was expecting a lot more from this.

The Japanese version has a bug where the audio for the DLC supports doesn't play on DLC maps for some reason. Replay them with Mila's Turnwheel and they will be voiced. Might be the same bug for the English version.

I haven't played the DLC yet, but can Clive's Lance be upgraded 6 times? That's a first...

Anyway, I can't say I was expecting much. Although I was looking forward to the Cipher weapons.

Yep! 6 times, it goes up to 13 MT on par with Gradivus. Its actually pretty impressive and the Clairs lance has a -1 weight value which to my knowledge is also a first. And Im keeping my fingers crossed for some new weapons with the cipher DLC!

And Ill go ahead and try using the Milas turnwheel to fix the audio, thanks for the tip!

I will say this about the DLC though Vincent, it should have been part of the prologue! The missions are short and easy and really flesh out Fernand. You get to see him before his family is killed and he does so much good. He saves Slayde, talks to Clair about wanting to settle down, you can tell he likes Mathilda and he even tells Mathilda that he and Clive are likes brothers. It really makes his death at the end meaningful and at the same time makes his betrayal seem infinitely more stupid since he has such deep ties with the Deliverance. But all in all it should have been in the prologue to flesh out Fernand and his tragic crush on Mathilda and brotherly love for Clive.

I don't agree on them being easy, really. The first mission, for example.  It dumps a few units  for you  to use(2 of which are trash, 2 are ok) but then sends you at a bunch of brigands, mercs and sages while dealing you with an ally mission. It's not hard, per say, but it's a step up from the usual fair, especially in terms of early game. Not necessarily something you throw in as a mandatory prologue.

The Fernand moments are probably designed around the tragic irony of already knowing his deal

Clair's Lance is probably good just by virtue of (potentially) being an early game blessed weapon. Or an extra blessed weapon if you do the dlc later (Celica in particular would probably appreciate an extra blesed lance). The fact it gives res+5 & extra resistence through mistdancer is also nice.
Lukas' Shield also catches my eye. I know people generally don't use shields, but I did, especially in the early-mid game where you lack rings for mages or weapons for every character. And a +5 Def shield that gives Shove, Swap AND defensive?

Really kind of wish I had started the game just a little later, I would absolutely have used both of those.

And double checking Fernand's Lance...even that isn't terrible? Especially if you're in the first 3 acts or so. It 's only one point weaker than a steel lance, is 10 points more accurate and comes with a useful skill set

The only one i'd call "bad" would be Python's bow but even that's more because of hte 2-3 range issue. The fact it gets Curved Shot, Heavy Shot and Encloser is pretty neat though. I lugged an iron bow & steel bow on each path around purely so I could get the shots, having them both on one weapon i can forge to keep relevant? Yes please???

I was mostly referring to the 3D models being bad not the stats. The stats and skills are pretty cool but I would have liked for them to make all new weapons entirely instead of just slapping a characters name on an iron weapon and tweaking the stats.

And I guess as a life long fire emblem fan and someone whos already beaten the game on hard classic the DLC was extremely easy. Just leave the soldier, javelin using cavalier and fernand at the first healing spot to hold off the first wave of enemies from the left and send one cavalier and Clive to help slayde. Then after every enemy is dead talk to slayde and have clive take his healing tile and take out the other reinforcements. With all the healing tiles and Arts that Clive and Fernand have no enemy should be difficult especially since you can one turn most mages with Clive.

This DLC is especially easy when compared to the DLC and bonus chapters in New Mystery of the emblem. Now THAT was challenging

I got unlucky, no one would hit properly and everyone got overwhelmed, especially by the mages. And sure compared to end game content and content in other games, its easier, but within the context of this game, these would not work at all as mandatory prologue maps. Shoot there's mechanics here that aren't even IN this game.

I think they had designed these maps so you could play them at any point. If you did them at the start, a new player could probably be overwhelmed, but they could come at it at any point later. Or they could breeze through them and figure out the strategy. And seasoned players will probably blitz through them but the different side objectives could keep them on their toes (well, the ydid me, at least, so i'm biased). But they're just easy enough without being mindless that it is not intensely frustrating when everything goes wrong or the maps go on seven years (HIDDEN TRUTHS). It also explains the weapons being so weird. Only marginally better than certain weapons at the start, but with useful skills you can unlock and 6 levels of forge so that even post-game players can find some use out of them.

idk, i guess what i'm saying is i dug the dlc and the weapons. different strokes different blokes?
