Xenoblade Chronicles Question (Possible spoilers)

So Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite game of all time, and I am playing through it again now that school has ended. Something that I noticed is that during the fight against metal face outside the ether mine, after being hit by a ether blast from a Telethia, Shulk is just able to waltz over there and start inflicting VISUAL damage with the Monado. I understand why he could damage Xord, the high concentration and high quantity of Ether acted like acid, but how could one small blast from a telethia allow Shulk to harm him with the Monado before its upgrade?

Given that the Monado is basically a lightsaber, my guess is Shulk just applied a lot of pressure against Metal Face so that it was enough to partially melt his armor.

That was my first thought, but then that makes you wonder how deep Shulk would have to go before he would literally recoil off of metal face once he hit the blood barrier, as well as how much pressure he is applying, and what are the mechon even made of to resist most normal atttacks.

Geez the mechon are mysterious, I really wish there was an explanation as to why they can't be hurt by normal weapons, unless I missed it.

My guess is that their armor is simply really tough. Ether attacks are able to get through, and the Monado's blade is made out of ether.

This would also explain why normal weapons can damage mechon when they're toppled: It gives you an opportunity to pry them open and damage the inside.

Yeah that make sure sense. I had always wanted to find out what metal they are using but whatever. probably some fictional metal that is lighter and stronger than titanium a la all fictional metals.

makes you wonder how hot exactly the monado's blade had to get to melt metal face's armour.

I also just realized this,  really smart of me to make a question about Xenoblade Chronicles on a website dedicated to fire emblem. I'd ask somewhere else, but there is no XC equivalent to serenes.
