Chapter 3: A Brush in the Teeth.

Turns - 6/17

This chapter wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Marth headed to the Village to grab Barst's Devil Axe which was almost immediately useful and is sure to continue being so. The hunters near the boss don't move if you stay further away than where Jagen goes to on turn one so everyone hangs back and lets the three Fighters approach, this doesn't cost turns as Marth is visiting the Village anyway and taking on all 5 units at once would be too tough. Once the Fighters approached I made a wall consisting of Marth, Barst and Ogma (Abel was also there but he wasn't needed for the actual formation) while Jagen and Cain moved ahead. This resulted in one Fighter attacking Barst who had equipped the Devil Axe so Cain could finish him off the following turn, the second was just distracted as no one was free to kill him and the third attacked Jagen who took him out with two Silver Lance hits over EP/PP. Barst could OHKO one of the Hunters with the Devil Axe which was fortunate as Marth needed to take his spot so that both he and Barst could reach the gate by turn 6 and no one else was free to chip in any damage, the other Hunter was taken out by Jagen and Cain. Abel was the only necessary sacrifice in this map as he needed to pull the two Fighters near the boss as they would otherwise have blocked either Barst's or Cain's route to the gate. Darros, Lena and Navarre held up the eastern group even though it wasn't really necessary but I need to kill people of anyway. Reynard is a scary guy and could ORKO Jagen, Cain and Barst, fortunately Devil Axe!Barst does enough damage to allow Jagen to use a Steel Sword instead of the Silver Lance reducing Reynard's hit on him and Cain to just over 50% and with the use of the second save point made killing him not too tough.

Chapter 4: Battle in the Lea.

Turns - 7/24

I was expecting this to be an ease up in difficulty after the first three chapters but it really wasn't, in fact I think it was the hardest chapter yet, I guess I just forgot how good Shiida's Wing Spear is. My team is simply not capable of dealing with the Cavalier group well, especially factoring in the threat of the Horsemen and Archers, the best I could do is take out two of them in one turn and sacrifice units to buy time. Fortunately however the very right corner of the river is just out of range of the Horsemen so Jagen re-classed to Dracoknight so he could occupy that spot while Cain ran towards Merric's Village this resulted in two of the Cavaliers going after Cain while the other's ran to Jagen who could only be attacked by one at a time so he kept them busy for several turns. This left the Archers and Horsemen to be dealt with as well as the fast approaching threat of the Fighters coming from the east. Barst re-classed to Pirate so he could kill one of the Archers at one range while the other one was forced to suicide on him on enemy phase thanks to the stationary Knight, as well as pulling one of the Horsemen. The other Horseman needed to be distracted though as I didn't have enough firepower to take both out in one turn, this was a job for Pirate!Ogma who ran up near the arena to pull the second Horseman, he was accompanied by Jullian who distracted the Hunter so Ogma could do his job, both died as a result as well as Draug who was left behind to hit the save point. Two attacks from Silver Lance!Jagen put Bentheon just in range for Steel Sword!Cain to finish while Barst took out the Horseman for some nice experience.

Chapter 5: Champions of Aurelis.

Turns - 4/28

Thank goodness the Wolf Guard are here because I needed to sacrifice my last two meat-shields Bord and Cord to the three Cavaliers in Wendell's group. Hardin joined and was immediately put to good use, his stats are not as good as Cain's but his access to Silver Lances is a big point in his favour. Wolf and Sedgar ran west to pull some enemies out of the way while Roshea distracted one of the Archers. Jagen flew as far north along the river as he could to pull the other Archers towards him, one was taken out by by Cain while the other was taken out by Jagen and Hardin who had a Javelin delivered to him by Shiida. The two Knights and the Cavalier didn't pose too much of a threat, one Knight being taken out by Barst while the other suicided on Marth. Cain got one of the Thieves fed to him by Hardin and reached D lances in the process. Merach was taken out by Steel Lance!Cain, Devil Axe!Barst and Silver Lance!Hardin, while Vyland went and bought a Steel Lance, two Javelins and a Hand Axe. Barst is still about a 1/4 to a 1/5 of the way from C Axes so I really hope he can get there in time to Hammer the boss in the next map, it'll be close.

Chapter 6: Fire Emblem.

Turns - 6/34

This map was a decent challenge to figure out but also pretty interesting as well. Jagen reclassed to Paladin while Wolf and Sedgar took up their true calling of General. Everyone did useful things here and it was a definite team effort. Hardin took the forward deployment spot and he and Cain led the charge, Cain has one less defence so he positioned himself just out of range of the Archers but in range of the Knight so neither he nor Hardin would be at risk of death. It was important that none of the enemies were weakened to below half health as the Curate would have moved to heal them and blocked the space that Roshea needed to occupy on turn two. Conveniently Iron Lance!Cain left the Knight on exactly the right amount of HP for Marth to finish with the Rapier while not dropping him below 50% HP. Barst cleared the way and Jagen and Cain teamed up on the Knight with Jagen using the last of his Silver Lance to ensure Cain didn't take a counter while Silver Lance!Hardin one shot the Mage. Jagen and Cain then combined to kill the Angelic Robe!Thief with Cain positioning himself to pull the Knight and Archer. Wrys hit D Staves just in time to use Mend which was very important as Heal alone would not be enough to keep my units in fighting shape. Cain killed the remaining Archer and he, Barst, Wrys and Marth proceeded to the Throne while Hardin and Jagen took out the remaining Thieves and the Master Key!Cavalier was one shot by Ridersbane!Hardin. Vyland backtracked to lure the Archer through the Wall and Barst hit C Axes on the very last enemy before fighting Emereus which was important as Cain didn't have enough HP to survive a hit even though Devil Axe!Barst plus Steel Lance!Cain could have gotten the kill. I'm honestly not sure how I want to distribute experience in 6x I'll probably let Marth get a lot just so he doesn't become a liability and Jagen will probably go Bishop to train Staff rank as having another Physic bot aside from Wrys could be useful. Cain is my strongest unit for sure but on the other hand he could use the weapon ranks so I'm not sure whether I want to focus on stats for others or weapon ranks for him, I'll see how it plays out.

so that people dont think i have abandoned this. i am currently trying to get my chapter 2 turn count down. the only way i can complete it atm is by sacrificing one of my drafted units, having 2 archers before chapter 4 hurts when the enemies hit for 10+ damage.i can get it done by turtling but thats counterproductive.

Chapter 6x: In War's Grip.

Turns - 0/34

A very fruitful map all in all, I decided to stick more or less to my initial idea and feed most of the experience to Marth. Jagen went Bishop to train his Staff rank while Hardin went Myrmidon for a few reasons: Firstly in order to train sword rank, second to try and get some Speed; he's just a little too slow to double most things as a Cavalier and finally it was the easiest way to put the Pirates just in KO range for Marth to finish. After taking care of the initial enemies Cain went south to train his Lance rank accompanied by Jagen who trained his Staff rank. Marth, Hardin, Barst and Wrys headed towards Athena's Village before heading back towards the boss who Cain and Marth poked for a few turns before he was finally put out of his misery by Hardin. Marth got three very nice levels here including a nearly perfect level at the start sans resistance, I used the second save point to rig the third level for him and the first one I used to rig Magic for Wrys. Wrys reached C Staves; Marth hit C Swords; Cain is about one attack from C Lances and Jagen is about 80% to C Staves as a Bishop. Also got Athena who is a welcome addition to the team, her stats and growths are pretty decent and she has C Swords something that my team has been lacking so far. I may give her quite high promotion priority as getting Paladin/Swordmaster access would help her a lot. I might also try giving her some levels as a Mage for some Levin Sword!Swordmaster shenanigans, not sure if that's actually a useful thing though and Mage bases are so bad it might be more trouble than it's worth, still if she's not required for something more important it probably won't hurt.

Chapter 7: Lefcandith Gauntlet.

Turns - 6/40

Not too difficult of a map thanks to the Whitewings leaving you alone, the only real threat being the Dracoknight and to a much lesser extent the two Pegasus Knights who would make short work of Wrys. Athena immediately proves her worth though countering the Dracoknight with a hefty Killing Edge!Crit (rigged using the first save point) for Barst to finish  off while the Pegasus Knights are easily taken care of by the rest of the team. The only other threat are the Ridersbane!Cavaliers that spawn from the western Fort and would make short work of Hardin/Cain, unfortunately for them however the fort is surrounded on three sides by mountains so Jagen goes back to Dracoknight blocking the only route away from the Fort and rendering them useless, the other Cavaliers that have Javelins/Iron Lances are not much of a problem at all. Harmein was, like most bosses, not much of a problem requiring a bit of chip from Silver Lance!Hardin and Steel Lance!Cain for Athena to finish with the Armourslayer, as it happened Cain crit which saved a use of the Physic that Wrys would have had to use on Athena but it wasn't needed at all.

Chapter 8: Coastal Skirmish.

Turns - 5/45

The initial number of enemies especially the four Horsemen make this map look pretty daunting at first, thankfully most of them are content to just sit there and let you stroll off to the Gate, how kind of them. The units that do charge you consist of four Cavaliers, one Knight, two Archers and Roger; Hardin could take three hits from the Cavaliers but the fourth would kill him so Athena positioned herself next to him to distract one while the other three were one shot by Ridersbane!Hardin. Roger and the Knight were killed by Barst/Athena with their Hammer/Armourslayer respectively and Athena and Hardin headed off to kill Kanival. Sedgar lured the Horsemen and one of them was fed to Barst by Jagen while another was killed by Cain with the Ridersbane that he can now use at long last for some nice experience. I got Caesar here but I don't really expect him to do much, his growths are pretty good actually 40% strength as a Mercenary is impressive by this game's standard. However he joins at level 3 with unimpressive to poor bases so getting out of his rut will be difficult. He doesn't even start with C Swords which would at least give him a niche as a back-up Armourslayer/Killing Edge user if Athena was busy doing something else and in addition to all that he probably has the lowest promotion priority on the team setting him back even further. With all that said however he did serve a purpose in this map by visiting the Arena three times, immediately following each of the save points which netted approximately a Silver weapons worth of Gold. This is the first map you can buy Silver Swords/Lances and I chose to get three Silver Lances plus an extra Javelin as well as the first time you can buy Vulneraries of which I bought two. It's pretty crazy to think that the first time you can get another Vulnerary other than the one the boss of Chapter 1 drops is in Chapter 8, although there's probably some generics that carry droppable Vulneraries and I just missed them.

Chapter 9: A Wyrm-King's Wrath.

Turns - 5/50

Not much to say about this one to be honest, the Pirates don't really pose much of a threat at this point so everyone just strolled to the Gate. Mannu's kind of bulky I guess but Devil Axe!Barst is basically a nuke. Caesar became a thief and got the Medium Bullion, I decided to leave the Goddess Icon as I can only open ten chests throughout the game (except for if they're in Marth's path to the Gate/Throne) so I'd rather save it for something more valuable than 1250 gold.

Chapter 10: Princess Minerva.

Turns - 8/58

Finally decided to do some more Shadow Dragon, this one was a little bit trickier than the last few but nothing too difficult. I split my team into two groups here; Marth, Cain, Hardin, Athena and Caesar went south around the Castle to escort Marth to the throne while Jagen and Barst, accompanied by Vyland, Roshea and Radd who were sent to abate the wrath of the horde of reinforcements went north to get the Master Seal. I had to do a bit of trial and error on where to position my units on turn one to get the four cavaliers to make a line against the castle and get the Dracoknights to go south while Minerva (who got killed by Barst, R.I.P., your axe will live on) and one Pegasus Knight went north. As such Cain, Hardin and Marth could kill a Cavalier each with Ridersbane and Rapier while Athena crit the other with the Save Point use. The Dracoknights were the biggest problem but conveniently they choose to go after Hardin rather than Cain who could 2HKO one with the Silver Lance while the other was pulled away and finished by Athena. Cain and Hardin had the same Luck and Defence so I was expecting them to go after Cain because they would take less damage, if they even factor that in, maybe Cain was getting a Support Bonus from Marth and that meant they preferred going after Hardin? Whatever the reason it worked out in my favour. Hardin and Cain then went with Marth to the Gate, and finished off Zharov together after Marth chipped with the Rapier on enemy phase. Cain got fed the Boss kill which will most likely be his last as a Cavalier and got a stellar level out of it while Athena went with Caesar, the designated thief, to get the Physic Staff. Meanwhile Jagen weakened the Master Seal!Hero so Barst could finish him and then went to kill the Levin Sword!Thief who had gone through the Castle to escape. I thought the Hero might be a threat but he actually only 6 or 7HKO'd Jagen, Dracoknight defence base too strong. Sedgar went shopping for 6 Door Keys, 2 Bridge Keys, 2 Vulneraries and 2 Pure Waters. I should also have deployed Wolf to hit the other Save Point so Athena could have killed the Silver Bow!Sniper with a Killing Edge!Crit but I wasn't thinking that far ahead and didn't think it was worth redoing the map just for that.

Chapter 11: Knorda Market.

Turns - 9/67

Cain used the first Master Seal at level 13 and reclassed to Dracoknight, I choose him over Hardin to make use of the Lance Rank thus giving me three Silver Lance users while Shiida went Myrmidon so she could recruit Jake without being eviscerated by the Arrowspate. Cain flew over the Mountain towards Linde's Village and thinned out the Mercenaries to work on his Lance Rank while the rest started making their way round with Marth. Barst stayed with Wrys near the start and took care of the two Pegasus Knights as well as giving Wrys a heal target. After a few turns Cain backtracked and killed the Cavaliers near the castle and cleared the Gate while Hardin led the way for Marth and Shiida. He went ahead to clear the way so Marth wouldn't get blocked, killing the Thunderbolt!Ballista over two turns and then the Horseman with the Ridersbane. Afterwards he and Jagen killed the Killer Bow!Sniper which they could just barely kill between them with Silver Lances and Cain weakened Khozen so Hardin could take the kill. Athena took out the rest of the Mercenaries as well as the Thief with a little help from Caesar, who I think is basically irredeemable at this point and is pretty much just relegated to Athena's Bitch oh and he opens chests and goes shopping which he did a lot of here; buying two Steel Swords, two Steel Lances, a Steel Axe, a Mend, a Rapier, a Silver Lance, a Javelin and a Hand Axe. Athena got rigged a Strength/Speed level from the first Save Point and then I used the second to enable her to get a round of Arena, she got lucky with a 1200 gold bet against a Fighter that she could just barely 5HKO and getting two dodges at 60% hit for a nice bit of cash as well as getting another Strength/Speed level.

Chapter 12: The Ageless Palace.

Turns - 6/73

Cain rushed around the outside to grab the Boots for Marth accompanied by Jagen who distracted one of the Mages so that Cain would have enough HP to fight Heimler's group after taking a hit from the Manakete without needing a Physic and he also got the Master Seal from Heimler. Hardin, Athena and Caesar went with Marth through the Treasure Room while Barst stayed at the start and weakened the Thieves and some reinforcements. I fed both Thieves, the Sniper, Volzhin and a Horseman to Jake so he could catch up on some levels. Shiida, Sedgar and all of the prisoners except for Midia who I spared so she can recruit Astram for his Silver Sword were killed off to access 12x. I also used a lot of Master Keys here to get the Master Seal, Boots, Arms Scroll, and the Dragonpike while Marth got the Large Bullion, I'm not really sure if the Arms Scroll or the Dragonpike were worth getting, especially the Dragonpike, but it's done now.

Chapter 12x: A Traitor's Worth.

Turns - 0/73

Jagen and Athena joined Wrys as members of the Clergy to maximise experience and so that Athena had an existent Magic growth for those sweet Levin Sword strategies later on, I used all the save points to make sure she got Magic while Hardin went Archer mostly just for the hell of it, who knows maybe getting him to Silver Bows as a Sniper might be useful probably more so than getting his Sword rank up would be. Hardin and Caesar stayed with Athena near the bottom area while the rest went North. A lot of the map was just training Weapon Rank, Cain hit A Lances and started on Axes, Marth is pretty close to B Swords, Jagen is well into C Staves as a Bishop and probably pretty close to C as a Sage, Barst is getting near to A Axes and Hardin got about half way through E Bows so probably about a 1/4 to a 1/3 of the way to B Bows as a Sniper and I guess Athena is probbaly pretty close to C Staves as a Bishop as well if I need three Physic users at some point for whatever reason. Jake got fed a couple of kills at the beginning but I didn't want to waste too much of the Arrowspate so he didn't do anything for most of the map. Oh and I got Horace I guess if only he could ride a Dragon he'd probably be pretty good, still might be able to do some odd jobs as a Hero or Berserker with Devil Axe or maybe even Horseman, he can probably get to Killer Bows pretty quickly as Horseman.

Chapter 13: The Wooden Cavalry.

Turns - 3/76

I decided to promote Athena and Barst here and keep Hardin unpromoted for the time being so he can get some more levels before chapter 16 although it probably won't make a difference to his stats in the long run anyway. Cain and Hardin went back to Paladin/Cavalier and ran to kill the boss between them while Barst went Hero and cleared the way for Marth as well as grabbing the Ridersbane from the Thief. Athena went Sniper because why not and she killed the two Ballistae in the North, I can't really see her getting anywhere on her Lance rank and she's already at A/B Swords as a Swordmaster/Paladin anyway. Jagen went back to Paladin as well and Horace went Horseman and they killed two of the Ballistae in the south including the Hoistflame one so Jake actually has another weapon to use now. Midia recruited Astram for his weapons and then they both died on turn two distracting a bunch of Ballista fire, they made it pretty reliable actually along with Wrys and Caesar distracting some Ballistae on turn one, I think the only person who had a chance of death was Horace. I didn't think Beck would be worth the two turns it would cost to recruit him especially considering I already have Jake.

Chapter 14: Land of Sorrow.

Turns - 6/82

Cain went back to Dracoknight, Jagen went Sage (he has C Staves as Sage now) and Caesar went Pirate so he could cross the River and open the Door to the Treasure Room in time. Jagen lowered the Draw Bridge and Hardin weakened the Ballista for Jake to kill and get the Stonehoist, it's good he has a weapon with a decent number of uses now it's just a shame it can't hit the broad side of barn, Barst killed one Armour and Athena and Horace ganged up on the other while Cain weakened one on the way to the Treasure Room. After the first turn, Cain, Horace and Caesar went to get the Silver Card while Marth, Hardin, Jagen and Barst went towards the Throne and Athena just killed the Archers through the wall. Barst went to kill Jiol with the Hammer hitting A Axes as a Hero in the process and Horace convoyed the Silver Card so that Hardin could grab it and he bought 2 Armourslayers, 6 Silver Lances, 2 Ridersbanes and 2 Silver Bows plus Jagen took it the next turn and bought 15 Door Keys which should be enough to open basically every remaining door in the game and 2 more Pure Waters. Marth hit B Swords and Catria got fed to Jake by Hardin.

Chapter 15: An Oasis of Magic.

Turns - 5/87

Jagen went back to Dracoknight so he could go shopping for 2 Killing Edges, 2 Javelins and 2 Mends while Hardin went Archer for effective damage on the Dracoknights. Cain used a Pure Water and took care of everything on the way to the Gate by himself, Jagen helped him kill one Dracoknight with some Javelin chip. Everyone else just made themselves busy getting experience while Marth walked to the Gate, Horace hit C Bows so he can use the Killer Bow now which should be helpful and Cain got D Axes which is cool I guess.

Chapter 16: The Battle for Altea.

Turns - 6/93

Barst went Berserker so that he could cross the Sea and pull the Horsemen and the Javelin!Cavalier to the North, otherwise the Horsemen would have killed Cain, and so he could Hammer Hollstadt. Jake killed the Fortify!Priest over 2 turns and Cain opened the first Door while equipping the Killer Lance so the first Hero suicided on him and then he went around the fort to clear all the Cavaliers and the Paladin with the Ridersbane. Jagen went with Marth and opened the second door for him, everyone else just stayed near the start. Hardin killed a few Horsemen across the water and a Dracoknight and hit level 20 and got to D Bows. Horace being able to use the Killer Bow was also helpful being able to OHKO both a Dracoknight and the second Hero with a critical, Xane could have been sacrificed to protect Jagen if he hadn't criticalled the Hero though. Jagen also managed to visit the Arena and won a fight against a Swordmaster for 1650g with a critical, he only did 3 damage per hit to Jagen so I have no idea how that works out at 1650g when things that 2HKO him like Warriors were less money, whatever I'll take it.

Chapter 17: Star and Saviour.

Turns - 3/96

Barst went back to Hero and Jagen and Athena both went Sage, Athena was close to levelling up so I rigged her Magic using the Save Point. Hardin promoted and went Paladin so he could kill the VIP Card!Bishop on Turn 1 and send it to the Convoy so Cain could visit the Secret Shop and Horace killed the Fortify!Bishop. Wrys hit A Staves so between the remaining Physics and the Fortify I should have plenty to last the rest of the game. Marth opened the Door and Cain killed the Mage and the Bishop while Marth weakened Morzas with the Wurmslayer on Turn 2 EP after Hardin and Athena cleared the two Knights in his way so Hardin could finish him with a Javelin. Barst just went and killed the Hero for experience while Jake killed the Thief to get the Devil Sword. Xane and one generic had to be sacrificed to the Manakete to access the Gaiden. Cain bought a Killer Lance, Dragonpike, Killer Axe, Poleaxe, Killer Bow and a Longbow from the Secret Shop.

Chapter 17x: Prisoner of Helena.

Turns - 0/96

I split my team into two groups here; Barst, Horace, Jagen and Wrys went around towards the throne and were joined by Marth after he got the Poleaxe. While Cain and Athena went with Marth and then backtracked to the start and waited for the Paladin reinforcements with Hardin and Jake. Most of the experience was focused into Barst, Hardin and Jake with Horace getting a bit as well while Athena, Wrys and Jagen just spammed staves for the most part. Hardin and Horace both got to B Bows and Barst reached C Swords while Wrys reached level 20, he'll promoted with the Master Seal from the next chapter and probably become the final promotion of the game, I doubt Caesar will reach level 10.

Chapter 18: The Sable Order.

Turns - 6/102

Hardin joined Cain as a Dracoknight and they killed about 75% of the map between them without any issue, although I did have to burn a use of the Fortify, while Athena went back to Sniper and got a couple of kills in as did Barst. The map was straight forward enough I ended up using both Save Points to visit the Arena with Horace and then with Barst, who got a 5 streak on his first attempt, earning about 6500 gold between them and Horace bought a couple of Recover Staffs for Jagen and Wrys.

Chapter 19: Manakete Princess.

Turns - 5/107

Wrys promoted and switched to Sage for the +1 Magic and Hardin went back to Sniper while Athena went Swordmaster so she could double and ORKO the three Heroes which were the only things even remotely approaching a threat, she had to dodge 1/3 hits but the save point was there for that. Jagen took the one use Master Key and got the XL Bullion while Caesar took the two use one and got the Geosphere and the Seraph Robe while the enemy thieves were left to get the Lightsphere, Speedwing and the (useless) Master Seal and then killed for their stuff, Athena also killed the Sniper with the other Master Seal just for experience not because I actually want the item.

Chapter 20: Camus the Sable.

Turns - 5/112

Hardin went back to Dracoknight and he and Cain took care of everything north of the River with a bit of help from Barst at the beginning to clear out the Generals and a Paladin. Cain hit C Axes and Hammered Lorenz in the face while Hardin easily dispatched Camus claiming the Gradivus and killed the Devil Sword!Thief and the Pachyderm Ballista for their stuff. Athena led the way south of the River armed with the Devil Sword so she could ORKO Paladins accompanied by Horace, Jake and the might Caesar who made himself useful by tanking a single Ballista hit and then running to hit the Save Point, so good. Barst went to the Arena over the last three turns getting some nice experience and a bunch of cash, now that I think about it I probably didn't need the XL Bullion I have a bunch of stuff I could sell to buy stat boosters although I don't know what else I'd use the last Master Key on, the Spirit Dust I guess not that it makes any difference anyway.

Chapter 20x: Men and Monsters.

Turns - 0/112

Why don't these maps have reinforcements? Hardin and Athena both went back to Sniper and they went left along with Caesar and Wrys, Marth went right to chat with Ymir and everyone else went north led by Cain and Barst. Everything except for the Manakete on the right, the two Bishops and Larissa were dead by turn 7 so Marth blocked the Manakete on the bridge and he, using the Levin Sword and the Geosphere, and Horace hit it while Jagen spammed heal on Marth until the Fortify!Bishop Broke his Staff, while Hardin took a few pot shots at Larissa.

Also, something I meant to ask about Chapter 19 but forgot, what's the deal with the rule that says you can't seize before turn 5? As far as I can tell you can't seize before turn 5 anyway unless I'm missing something, so this seems redundant to me, I assume there must be a reason though.

Chapter 21: Clash in Medon.

Turns - 3/115

For once they actually put Marth just in range to seize rather than put him one tile short! Marth used both the Seraph Robes and the Dracoshield so he could survive two Paladins and a Dracoknight on turn 2 while the ever useful Caesar distracted a third Paladin. Marth could probably have dodged the Dracoknight without too much issue but I might as well use these stat boosters some time and I don't think anyone else needs them. Bars killed the Generals with the Armourslayer and then the Mages and the Sniper and finally Orridyon with the Wo Dao. Everyone else just killed whatever came near them more or less and Cain went to the Secret Shop and bought all the stuff most of which is probably completely useless.

In the European version of Shadow Dragon, there is a glitch in Chapter 19 where the throne doesn't cost any movement to move onto, so if you full move Marth every turn he'll exactly reach the throne on Turn 4. The rule was added to prevent owners of the inferior American version from being at a disadvantage.

Chapter 22: A Knight-Filled Sky.

Turns - 7/122

I gave Cain the three Goddess Icons so he could use the Devil Axe to one round the Dracoknights with less chance of killing himself and he charged ahead thinning out the enemies while the others caught up. Hardin and Cain killed the two Horsemen which could have actually posed a threat in conjunction with the Paladins and then Hardin went to remove Michalis from the gate. Almost everything ended up dead by turn 4 except for the Thief and a Paladin which I left for Athena so she could hit B Bows I'll give her the Arms Scroll and let her Parthia things I guess, free Pure Water for next map after all! Jake was pretty useful here killing the two Fortify!Priests with the Pachyderm and then Arrowspatting a few things that decided not to move, also Athena actually used the Longbow for the first and probably last time. I guess if anyone's wondering, I do realise I could just stomp the rest of the game in about 15 minutes with Gradivus!Hardin without even really thinking but hey got to spice it up a bit right?

Huh, you're right,  I've never noticed that about the Throne in chapter 19. Euros always trying to get the upper hand via shady means .

Chapter 23: Dark Pontifex.

Turns - 7/129

I gave Jagen the four Spirit Dusts so he could be more useful as a Physic bot, not that Wrys really needs much help keeping everyone alive with Fortify but no one else needs them. Athena used the Arms Scroll so she could use the Parthia and Jake used an Energy Drop so he could OHKO the Swarm!Bishops with the Pachyderm. Cain, Hardin and Barst went with Marth to the Throne while Horace and Athena killed everything down the bottom, with everyone using Pure Waters on turn 1 and Jake killed the Thieves and  the Bishops after they were lured by Ymir who didn't use a Pure Water so they would focus him. I also reset until the real Gharnef spawned at the top left so I didn't have to bother dealing with him (used the Geosphere to check which one he was) and ended up killing the entire map except for him obviously.

Chapter 24: The Dragonkin Realm.

Turns - 4/133

I had completely forgotten about these Speed capped Manaketes, I actually had to think for like 30 seconds. Athena went Swordmaster and I gave her a Speedwing so she could double and ORKO the Manaketes with the Wyrmslayer and Jake used another Energy Drop to cap his Strength while Jagen went Dracoknight so he could go Shopping. Cain pulled the Manakete nearest the Throne over to the left while Hardin pulled another where Athena could kill it on turn 2 and he could also kill the two Snipers with the Gradivus. Cain then killed the Fortify!Priest south of the Throne and the Bishop on enemy phase while Jake weakened the other Manakete so Hardin could finish it with the Gradivus allowing him to kill a Bishop on enemy phase which is why I gave Jake the Energy Drop. Cain and Jake combined to kill the Manakete that Cain had pulled to the left on turn one and Athena killed the other while Hardin killed the other Bishop so that Athena would be healthy enough to ORKO Xemcel. Barst just went right with Horace and weakened a few things so that Horace could get the last few attacks in to reach A Bows. Now I just have to decide who gets the honour of eating all the Stat Boosters and soloing 24x, I'm thinking Horace at the moment, though Jagen might be an option or Ymir.

Chapter 24x: A World Apart.

Turns - 0/133

Endgame: Chosen by Fate.

Turns - 2/135

Unfortunately Jake is just 2 damage short of OHKOing Medeus with a Pachyderm critical so my plan was to weaken him with the Geosphere but he's immune to it so no joy there. I suspected he was probably immune to it, I mean it makes sense seeing as he's an Earth Dragon. Still the Geosphere did come in useful in order to kill the two Priests meaning that Jake can exactly kill Medeus with a Pachyderm hit + crit after factoring in the Throne healing, so it did end up saving two turns anyway. Jagen had to go Bishop so he could Fortify but that meant he was exactly killed by two Geosphere uses but he was saved from an untimely demise by the power of Sorceror!Ymir who made basically his only contribution here, iirc he weakened a Paladin for Jake to kill at one point as well. Athena also had to go Bishop so she could Barrier Barst who would have been killed by the Levin!Sword Hero plus Manakete after he was weakened by the Geosphere.

Unit Summary going into Endgame:

59dfad77b0ef9_Marth(Summary).png.a6cd9518a38ce8a88562ae501a28ce43.png59dfad7684c9c_Marth(Lord).png.d3da0e777d6bcc2432ef90542f9f04f2.png

Really good at walking to the Gate/Throne. He was a complete scrub at the beginning as usual but he's good enough to survive on his way to seize and he helps with the occasional Rapier chip. After Chapter 6x he actually became really good, well as good as Marth can get I guess, his Speed was just wtf to be honest and that probably helped make things easier although I doubt it actually saved any turns. Durability was a bit of an issue later but nothing some Seraph Robes couldn't fix.

59dfad9551e39_Cain(Summary).png.e90520e51f6123301252baff1919c612.png59dfad93419ba_Cain(Dracoknight).png.b6ca651bc8bfeda6b753d670bd36010b.png

Solid unit from start to finish although he's probably the worst out of Shiida, Abel and himself due to having E Lances though access to Steel Swords in the first few maps which is the harder part of the game might make up for it. He carried a lot of the weight along with Jagen in the early parts of the game and then with Hardin during the middle parts. Ended up playing second fiddle to Hardin during the later parts of the game due to being promoted at a low level but was still more than capable of holding his own.

59dfad72cf063_Jagen(Summary).png.1cc7f0e962118ab74d936a1417833740.png59dfad70d9713_Jagen(Dracoknight).png.c6ed56b634914c04aa47e2639e48d21f.png59dfad6f8f15a_Jagen(Bishop).png.06926ceaa81689d2fc0482945d94f73c.png

What needs to be said about him really? He's terrible! When you compare him to the likes of Seth, Titania and Marcus he's just awful I mean he's barely better than Cain/Abel are at base. In truth though he's just really well designed in my opinion, his bases are exactly what they need to be and the Silver Lance is really all he needs to do his job early. Exclusive access to Dracoknight gives him an important roll all the way up to Chapter 10 and his bases alone are enough to get him there, then later he can help with a bit of healing to avoid becoming obsolete.

 59dfad7e08c09_Wrys(Summary).png.b7e2aa78683c9b4f6db224de715c5e65.png59dfad7c8d7d1_Wrys(Sage).png.a204a699cb5b857f9448c8fe1b26a9ba.png

Third round Wrys was a complete steal to be honest. I picked him thinking, meh I guess a healer might be nice in the first few chapters but man did he prove his worth. Being the only healer in the first three maps (I know there's Lena but she starts far away from your group in chapter 3 so she's not really going to contribute until chapter 4) along with the complete dearth of Vulneraries gives him a critical role in what is probably the hardest part of the game allowing everyone to press on. He probably saved more turns in the first few maps than most of the cast can save in the whole game. After chapter 3 he could be replicated by some reclassed group A scrub like Gordin or Vyland but his slight magic advantage could make the difference, what's a lot more noticeable though is his ability to hit D Staves for Mend earlier than others not named Lena, which proved to be very important in keeping everyone in fighting condition especially in chapter 6.

59dfad8eb8990_Barst(Summary).png.84d75afed908309f515bb32c439ba939.png59dfad8be86c9_Barst(Hero).png.3650df38114cb58444eff64c7d9bf90e.png

Barst and the Devil Axe are simply a winning combination, very few other units can do what he does in the early maps and the only thing that kind of lets him down is getting to C Axes for Hammer in time, still he managed it and it's a rather insignificant gripe for such a great unit. Promotion to Hero more or less fixes any problems he has with his Speed and sets him up as a strong combat unit for the rest of the game.

59dfad98b3999_Hardin(Summary).png.26a694cb4414cd4de58a5bad1e9fbd04.png59dfad963b4ae_Hardin(Dracoknight).png.4f84feb3301505dc2cf8f7902a6dfdf3.png59dfad973c3fa_Hardin(Sniper).png.f75c8cfbeee18f146cfb1079d2292214.png

The fact he's not around for the first few maps means he's somewhat behind the likes of Cain when he joins but his immediate access to Silver Lances gives him an important role allowing him to OHKO enemies like Mages that can deal crippling damage in the early maps as well as deal good damage to Knights and such. Having two strong Cavalier units is a big boon early allowing them to work in tandem and with Cain promoting early that left Hardin to get experience and take over as the main unit in the later portions of the game.

59dfad88554ff_Athena(Summary).png.389e39c9d940b8f3cf1e404dcfea6370.png59dfad866f0ba_Athena(Sniper).png.d485745f1802965b618546286a55ef3f.png59dfad89f0075_Athena(Swordmaster).png.b842f3dbb8274e628432c574f3a0bb29.png59dfad84955fc_Athena(Sage).png.3283263e7b3b4d288d7b71be5cb9acbb.png

Athena is such a good unit to be honest, easily better than 90% of the rubbish you have to kill off to get her. She joins early enough to have a lot of time to contribute and her bases make her easily able to hold her own which is more than a lot of units can say. Having C Swords at base is very useful and she had exclusive access to C Rank Swords for quite a long time. If I didn't have two other good mounted units I would have reclassed her to Peg/Draco so having access to Armourslayer if it's needed without needing to train Sword Rank is nice or on a higher difficulty where having all the Dracoknights is the way to go. She never did get to Levin!Sword very much though.

59dfad921015a_Caesar(Summary).png.8a5555a3026a7bda53fe7e206ba6577c.png59dfad906defe_Caesar(Mercenary).png.aa01ba044c7c7c3aff3afe99af188478.png

He's so bad! I mean I never gave him a chance but I think that was for the best. Still he did his job of sundry tasks adequately and having a weak unit to distract a single enemy's focus later on was useful at times, Mercenary's huge base Speed being very useful for that as he wouldn't get doubled even later on.

59dfad7540c9c_Jake(Summary).png.8cbb38a47ddf1a2ce8413f2068856128.png59dfad73e37c9_Jake(Ballistician).png.d3bba69d4485eb792a4c085ce890b3fe.png

Jake was another steal actually, I didn't really think he would be all that special but his nearly unique contributions and the fact that he doesn't cost turns like Beck make him really good. He's sort of like a Mage with a Siege tome but without the usually weak attack and very limited uses. Plus he killed Medeus because who needs the Falchion.

59dfad6eb1dc2_Horace(Summary).png.88db943a51eb99217ec81a38f25c13f9.png59dfad99bd033_Horace(Horseman).png.fde4cfc85cdc244c60343b4f6ee1055a.png

Horace is to my mind a rare species in FE11 in that he's an OK unit. Characters in this game are either good or bad but few fall in between I feel. He's around for enough of the game to contribute but not enough to really stand out and his bases are enough to allow him to contribute with good enough Strength to deal solid damage and enough Speed to not get doubled but not fast enough to double anything, his durability is bad though as anything other than a General. He made a passable Horseman though and made some contributions with the KIller Bow or just weakening things or finishing them of which is good enough considering that he just turns up ready to roll.

59dfad808e7a2_Ymir(Summary).png.d17f8a5bd2f64a6f04c1c0f735cfd7a0.png59dfad827f86f_Ymir(Warrior).png.12daee9dc7a168559e7a37bf5fe2b58a.png

Kind of a similar deal to Horace in that he actually has bases unlike most units but he just joins too late to be of use. Kept Jagen alive in Endgame so credit to him for that.

59dfad7b02e34_Nagi(Summary).png.c8273cef417beb8eabb0c3ac88b11f07.png59dfad7924b28_Nagi(Manakete).png.6a058da8d6c1efeb2e378b32b845ca9d.png

She used the Geosphere and killed a Hero!

Overall I think Hard 3 is a pretty good difficulty for a Draft, although I haven't done one on another difficulty so that could change, it's hard enough to be challenging especially in the early game and actually lead to the picks mattering unlike on lower difficulties where I imagine you would be more or less limited purely by how many turns it takes Marth to walk to the Gate/Throne leading to almost identical turn counts. On the other hand though you aren't reduced to having Jagen just sit on a fort for 15 turns only to get crit by Gazzak or something like you would on Hard 5 and end up getting to chapter 3 with a turn count of 50 or something. Still it becomes pretty generic later on (I vastly overestimated how good enemies are as the game goes on), say chapter 7, due to no rescue and reclassing resulting in the only limiting factor being the amount of turns it takes Marth to Seize more or less. Maybe a higher difficulty would lead to more variance? I'd be interested to know what people who have done Shadow Dragon drafts think or I guess if anyone else plans on doing this at some point.
