Everytime one pops up I instantly regret pulling on all non-seasonal banners even though I've been fairly lucky just because I worry I won't get what I want during the seasonal and I never will. I would feel a lot better if they released plans to reintroduce some of these characters. My personal opinion is they should be added to the background pool of the season's banner every year. So next year we would get 4 5* focus new units and 8 5* nonfocus units. I'm sure they'll come up in some way, shape, or form. I mean "may or may not appear again" pretty much confirms that. The other gacha games I'm aware of do repeats of their old event sets every year (and angry people occur when they don't). Would drive me crazy if I see the same seasonal units released each year, but who knows how popular FEH will be a year from now (so far, I believe it has a pretty stable fanbase, so here's hoping). It seems like it'd be fitting for Heroes to have future years have the old seasonal characters return on secondary banners during their season while new seasonal characters show up on main banners during that season. They have to add new characters to keep the money flowing from the whales who already have all of the old characters. Most other games don't require the whales to pull 11 or more copies of the same character (but tend to have more characters per banner and lower chances of rares). Basically, there will be unhappy people occurring if they don't have the old banners return and unhappy people occurring if they don't have new characters tacked on, so they do both.
