True, I don't expect it to pull a TMS. But if it doesn't quite meet sales expectations then I'd say the potential sequel that the devs themselves are roping eachother along with definitely won't manifest.

And let's be honest, if it doesn't meet sales expectations, it WON'T be because of the roster. I think the fact it might be overshadowed by several other games it'll be competing against during the Holidays (including the ultra-hyped Super Mario Odyssey) might hurt a lot more than people give it credit for.

When FEW was announced I was really hyped at being able to play as some of my favorite characters like Lyn, Hector, Eirika, and Ephraim in full 3D action combat.

As time goes on, I find out it's more and more likely that won't happen... that the big draw and promise the game held for me isn't there... The reason I would have to buy game isn't there.

Worst case, I just won't buy it. It won't be that big of a loss, the Warriors gameplay probably ain't my thing anyway. Maybe they'll have some of those characters as DLC... that might change my mind.

I'm not going to hate the game or bash it for that, I'm sure it was a difficult decision to make in terms of the roster, but I can't help but be disappointed, and at this point I'm leaning towards not getting it, though there's still a lot left to be announced until the game is released.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who think likewise, who would have wanted to get the game mainly to play as some of their favorite FE characters in an action game, but if those characters aren't there, well, for some that could take away any excitement this game may have held.

Yeah, that feeling is understandable. I felt the same excitement, except for Ike and Ephraim, most particularly Ike, because I knew he was super popular. I thought he was sure to be in. Now that may not actually be the case (though I think his chances are still high for DLC at least).

But at least a couple other guys I do really like are in, and I can accept that. Like ChibiToastExplosion said, it's good to step out of your "comfort zone" once in awhile. Echoes didn't look that great to me at first, but I decided to give it a chance anyway because it's FE and an FE story I've never experienced before. And you know what? I really like the game!

EDIT: Oh yeah, Super Mario Odyssey is actually coming in October, huh? That's probably when we're getting FE Warriors too. I really hope that doesn't hurt the game too much...

Yeah-- not sure why they aren't trying for a simultaneous release with it, since it'll almost certainly end up releasing after SMO in the rest of the world.

I don't know what the problem with GAF is. Been posting there for years, never had an issue.

Their policies might be a bit strict compared to other boards, but when you're a forum that big, it's kind of a necessity.

I'm buying it day 1. I have had the pre order for a few months now. Placed it back in May.

i am excited for it. Not just do I love the fact that we are getting a spin off, but I also enjoyed 2 of the 3 games that are going to be the main focus so it's all good in my book.

I left talking on these boards, and especially the reddit for a while due to the negativity personally. While I can completely understand it, it's also frustrating to see people act like that everyone obviously hated Fates and Awakening and that it is some kind of slap in the face of the entire community because they dared to focus on those two for the game. I haven't seen this here all that much, discussions here are a lot more civil, but Reddit got really bad and still is to an extent. 

So just a friendly reminder to everyone, just because the game doesn't completely cater to you doesn't mean it is shit, and doesn't mean it should be scrapped. I fully get it, it sucks that this one doesn't have all eras, but that doesn't mean you get an excuse to trash and throw fits over something others may enjoy.

Yes voice your problems, that is how things get changed, but don't spit on the things others like in the process. 

And one thing I want to add. I'm glad that they split the games up the way they did. That means we get more characters from exact era in separate games. If it was the alternative and we threw it all in at once, we would of gotten all the lords and maybe a few characters from each game with no reason for a sequel.

It's not JUST that their policies are strict. GAF is notoriously hivemindy.

Even without my secondhand experiences, go look at any of the comments on the recent articles about the admin that recently got busted for child porn. You'll see many people echoing the same sentiment.

Man, I have no words for this.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I've been on Reddit before. That place is awful. I didn't last long at all. It was back during the Amiibo frenzy. I joined it to keep up with the releases. All I said was that I wanted to return or sell/give away an Amiibo my mom got me that turned out to be the wrong one. She thought it was rare and stuff, but didn't know it wasn't one I had my eye on. And people literally said I was a horrible person to treat my mother that way. Just...seriously? They acted like I assaulted her or something. And I got downvoted out of any chance to post again.

I actually ended up keeping the Amiibo though, and I'm sorta glad I did. It was Zelda, and she came in handy for HW.

My god, that guy hadn't been a moderator for years. GAF is a fine community with all kinds of members with differing opinions. What GAF doesn't tolerate is people acting like idiots, and frankly I think that would strengthen a lot of other forums.

For the record, it was a former admin. He got removed from the staff years ago. Most people hated him anyway.

And while it was definitely something said person should be punished for, it shouldn't be used as something against the community. And if anyone chooses to defend him, they do so under their own risk.

Well, yeah, I didn't mean it meant that the community itself was bad too. I've never been there, so I can't say that. But the fact that anybody even made him staff to begin with is kind of questionable.

I mean, I imagine most pedophiles aren't upfront about being pedophiles. You could probably talk to somebody online every day for years and not know half of the shit they do.

Yeah, I know, I was more referring to what Jave said about people hating him anyway. If he was hated even without knowing about the porn, why was he made staff?

Then again, I'm not ENTIRELY surprised. I used to be part of a place called Zelda Universe. It was great when I joined. It sucks now. The mods just got worse and more idiotic. Even led to some other mods leaving because they couldn't tolerate their crap anymore. I won't say I wasn't a problem member at times myself, but I was once literally banned simply so "I wouldn't come back." That's how bad some mods were.

This was discovered WAAAAY after he was removed from the staff, though. Nobody could have known that back then.

"Most people hated him anyway" was a bit of a loose expression, but the guy was known for mod power abuse and generally being unlikable. He was removed from the staff for a reason.

I suggest that you don't judge GAF without checking it out first. It is most definitely NOT worse than GameFAQs, as they have tons of great people there and some of them are very passionate about what they like. Like Hardin said, they have very little tolerance for people being jerks and they usually do temp bans and perma bans rather than warnings, however, if you know how to express yourself and treat others you should have no issues being there (as I've said, I've been there for years and never had a single problem).

Eh, I see what you're getting at. But at the end of the day I'm not really a Warriors fan and the one thing that really made me even consider it was the idea of playing as some of my favourite characters outside of the chosen 3 games. I mean I love The Legend of Zelda arguably more than FE, but I didn't even bother with Hyrule Warriors. I don't want to buy the game and lie to myself that I would enjoy it, because I probably wouldn't. I hope those who do buy it enjoy it, not gonna be the one to spoil their fun. Just not for me I guess.

Yeah, for all the shit I just said about GAF, I definitely wouldn't put them below GameFAQs. GameFAQs is like the communal toilet of video game message boards.

Well, I wasn't trying to judge GAF as a whole, sorry if it came off that way. But...yeah, as you probably know, Jave, I have a little trouble expressing myself at times... I'm probably better off not going there.

I do think that a ban for just one offense is kind of harsh though. I mean, multiple offenses, sure, ban the person, but someone who's new and doesn't understand the community is just starting out. And there's no reason for someone who has no previous bad history to not get a second chance. A ban for the first ever offense might discourage them from wanting to come back out of fear that they'll soon be banned again. I know I'd feel that way.
