Preparation for Arena Assault

Finally managed my deathless run ranking 609 with 4864 points.

Had to use 2 items, Once the Panic Shard against a buffed Flier and once Nagas Tear.

Teams I used:
1. S!Camilla +3, S! Corrin +5, Hinoka +2, Pallas (Flier Emblem)
2. Zephiel, Hector, Sheena +4, Effy +6 (Armor Emblem, Although Hector and Zephiel did the most killing)
3. Camus +1, Xander, Cecilia (Gronnblade), Reinhardt (Prime Horse Emblem)
4. Ryoma, Sonya +4, Nowi, Ninian (Infantery Pulse Team, dealt with an Armor Emblem Team, with their Special skills being ready)
5. Olivia, Kagero +6, Roy+2, Julia +2 (this Team lacks serious Skill Inheritance, dealt against a Bride Cordelia+5, Gronnblade Nino+10, Buff!Eirika and S!Corrin +7 Team, Kagero Finished off Bride Cordelia and Eirika while Roy dealt with Nino and Julia with S!Corrin)
6. Berkut, Ursula, Leo, Olwen. Poor Horse Emblem Team lacks the punching power of the other Emblem due to lack of TomeBlades (only Leo has Tomeblade), This Team needed 2 Items to deal with Hector +6, Buff!Ryoma +6 that constantly Buffed S!Corrin+5 and Azura
7. Hawkeye +4, Lyn, Bride Cordelia (normal Brave Bow no +) and Azura. This Team dealt fairly well against a F!Robin +3, Raventome M!Robin+5, Bravebow+ B!Cordelia+5 and Olivia). Hawkeye dealt with F!Roibin +3 and M! Robin +5 with his Distant Counter on Defensiv Tiles finishing them off while keeping distance of B!Cordelia. Azura dealt with Olivia and Lyn and B! Cordelia dealt with B! Cordelia

I have to look into Team 5 and 6 those teams are unfinished, no perfect SI. Especially Team 6 lacks punching power unless it goes against another Horse Emblem Team with Ursula.

Made it to 4,850 today, putting my at rank 858. Pretty satisfied with that for now, and seems like it could be enough to stay in the top 5k by the end of the season. I don't expect to be in the top 1k the units I've got, so I'm okay with that.

I used @Whistle's advice (helpful post by the way!) about farming items on easy with 1 lead unit. So I stocked up on some items first but surprisingly didn't end up having need for them just yet.

I managed to improve on my score of 4,804 by changing my initial team to consist of +1 Chrom, +1 Effie, +1 Minerva and +1 Klein. It took two tries fuck Bridelia + a dancer or rather just enemy dancers in general but I completed another deathless run so my score is now at 4,848 (rank 920). I actually started running into Reinhardts unlike yesterday but I still didn't see him too often. I'm pretty sure I ran into more Distant Counter Zephiels than Reinhardts in fact. I also ran into a neat themed team consisting of all the Black Fang peeps (Nino, Jaffar, Lloyd, Ursula) during my first run today.

You guys are all super lucky not running into many Reinhardts. I had an almost-streak last night that had a Reinhardt in every battle and four of those seven battles were Horse Emblem. That my teams of half scrublords even made it to the seventh battle without deaths is a damn miracle (unfortunately, I only have five Rein counters and the fifth-stringers barely squeaked by, leaving the sixth-stringers to the wolves).

I really love how this mode lets us use all of the good characters we have that normally wouldn't see the light of day because they are slightly inferior to other characters we have. I field all sorts of units like +Def/-Hp Chrom and +Hp/-Def Caeda just because they happen to be perfect counters for specific teams I happen to go up against.

Hell, I have even threw out a Lv 30 4* Arthur once.

And I found out the a +Def Lukas on a defense tile is basically invincible against all physical attackers. He was clutch for me when he tanked a Firesweep Bridella for a few turns.

 

Question for @Whistle @Ice Dragon and any other whales out there. Did you guys make use of any of the items or no?

I guess I would like to hear from non-whales too. What has your item usage been like?

I haven't used any items yet. I have Blade, Veil, and Fear currently set up for emergency situations where I made a horrible miscalculation.

So far, my miscalculations haven't been too bad. The worst one was having Cecilia as my only green attacker (with only Hone Cavalry for support coming from Peri and Elise) against an Effie with Ridersbane and Distant Counter. Lucina managed to chip Effie enough for Cecilia to finish Effie without taking the counterattack.

I've been messing around with this mode a lot, right now I have a deathless score of 4874 with a starting team of: Hana 4*+9, Fae 5*+1, Lucina, Delthea. I'm just hoping my score is enough to stay in the top 1k, though I have a feeling I'll have to improve it either way.

Haven't been using the items very much but from what I can see, the Boots, Dancer's Veil, and Naga's Tear are looking like good items to take for safety nets. Anyone who's been using them have any suggestions on which ones I should take?

Do we have confirmation that we're being ranked against all players, or is it players within our own Arena Tier? I have a hard time believing just 30000 players have beaten my score when I've only tested the waters of the mode. I have a much easier time believing those 30000 are only within my arena tier

There are currently almost 10,000 players in Tier 20. What tier are you in and how many players are there in your tier?

Also, what is your score?

And who do you see at the top of the leaderboard?

Score of 4.957 puts me in rank 325. Hope this is enough to stay top 1.000, or I might need to seriously do some tests to see which of my units give the highest scores and put them in the first team.

It's definitely interesting to pull out the super specialists. I actually promoted F!Robin to 5* (I was kinda looking for an excuse to do it, anyway, so this seemed like the right moment) and gave her TA3 and she's become a stronger blue tome counter than anyone other than my Nino. Also fielded Tobin (almost picked 4* Selena, but then I rememberd I had him and his offense is a bit better) and watched him wreck 3/4 of a full armour team. 3* Narcian's come out at least three times. Also brought out my half-finished 4* Brave Florina once and a 4* +Def/-Spd Stahl. 4* Gordin got deployed against Flier Emblem and with Olivia's help, pretty much destroyed them without help from the other two damagers. My favourite was the +Def/-Spd F!Corrin that I tacked Def +3 and Squad Ace B onto, giving her an absurd 53 Def on a defense tile. An enemy 5* Anna came at her and did all of 2x 0.

Oh, and as for items, I've been using them here and there to try to help the low/mid-tier +0 scrublords win fights against +7s. Sometimes it works, though often times they're either not outmatched enough such that they win without an item or are so horribly outmatched that an item doesn't do enough to sway the battle. My current streak of 4904 used no items.

Tier 17, which has 43426 people ranked at this time. But that's not the point, either scenario is pretty unlikely. I just wanted to know if somebody has found some means by which players are being sanctioned off, like how you pick a team in voting gauntlet are are only competing for rank against your teammates. This is the first week of a new mode, I would think a lot of people are logging in to try. The feather rewards for higher ranks are juicy too. Though I guess since there's no time based element like VG multipliers or Tempest Trial's stamina costs, people are willing to work at their own pace...?

I like that you can view the top ranking players, it's cool seeing their representing characters and the builds they have. I took a few minutes just to look at the units have displayed.

I actually just did the same, I've been meaning to promote her for a while now and the new challenge is good enough reason to do it. Although I've yet to level her to 40.

It might also be that some people are having more difficulty. Getting the equivalent of my normal Arena score took a lot more effort to attain since a lot of my resources were concentrated into my core A Team. This leaves most of my others fairly underpowered (though I do have a budget Horse Emblem and budget Flier Emblem that are at least formidable in their own right despite missing some major components) such that around 2 of my teams are basically running on fumes (I have enough others of decent power to usually cobble something together with really good synergy for the other 2 in between). There's also the fact that blasting through a 7-streak with 7 totally different teams that are sometimes built on the fly can be really disorienting and likely to screw people up. Since there's no currency to play, I imagine people are just abandoning runs with early deaths rather than continuing. Give people some time to find their legs and then you'll probably start seeing lots of deathless high scores again.

Hehe, nice. If you want to power level her ASAP, it shouldn't take too long, thanks to the Training Tower's new instant reroll system. Thanks to the ability to pit her against completely favourable match-ups, I blitzed her through to 40 in a little less than an hour using about 150 Stamina.

If you're seeing the same as everyone else, chances are there's no separation by tiers.

I can confirm for everyone that the leaderboards in Arena Assault are not separated by tier since I know one of the people tied for rank 1 is in tier 20, which I am not in, yet I can still see him.

Got my first seven streak win (sadly with a fair few deaths), but I haven't ranked up at all xD Whoops.

Oh, I guess you're right. I didn't think of that, I thought you could only see players ranked near your own rank. 

I do have another question though, do we know if losses in Arena Assault count as defense wins for the teams you lose to? If so, I could continually enter and lose in Arena Assault, delivering defense wins to dozens of random players like it's Christmas. Something tells me the developers thought of that though and made it so you can't get defense wins from this mode.

I'd be content to just collect a 7 win streak as I don't have many (or actually, any) truly optimized unit. I'll manage it before the end of the weekly session.

Certainly won't aim for a deathless run and high rank is unattainable to anyone not whaling anyway. It's crazy how much money people are willingly spending on this game.

No way.

Even if people did not purposely lose, the amount of unoptimized teams being used in arena assault would largely boost defense scores and I sure haven't witnessed that thus far.

I'm ranked something like 3,923. I'll be content if I don't fall out of the top 10k.

I've gotten my defence win Day 1 this week. It's probably there in some form.

I also only do one Arena Assault a day.

I managed to do a little better today than I did yesterday.  I only had one death this time.  I didn't notice a Lucina had Drag Back, taking my Reinhardt off a Defensive Tile, and getting him killed by Anna.  I need more Reinhardt counters.  I was playing a bit aggressively, since only really Titania and Julia are my hard counters for him, and I had already used both of them.

I still haven't used any of my items yet.

Are Defense Wins a thing in Arena Assault?  I don't see them anywhere.

3 defense wins so far though I suspect that they may be coming from Arena Assault players. Best score of 582.

I think I might go ahead and 5* Anna to give me another Axe user, and she's a decent Arena unit every 3rd week.
