Dragoncat
Saw this and I'm like...what? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/racist-math-quiz-pimps-hos-drugs_us_574edaeae4b0af73af95d5c0 Basically a middle school teacher in Alabama is in hot water for a math test with questions like: Quote Ramon has an AK-47 with a 30-round clip. He usually misses 6 out of every 10 shots and he uses 13 rounds per drive-by shooting. How many drive-by shootings can Ramon attempt before he has to steal enough ammunition and reload? Leroy has 2 ounces of cocaine. If he sells an 8 ball to Antonio for $320 and 2 grams to Juan for $85 per gram, what is the street value of the rest of his hold? Dwayne pimps 3 hoes. If the price is $85 per trick, how many tricks per day must each ho turn to support Dwayne’s $500 per day crack habit? Tyrone knocked up 4 girls in his gang. There are 20 girls in the gang. What percentage of the girls in the gang has Tyrone knocked up? Discuss.
DisobeyedCargo
My question is why exactly did the teacher think it was a good idea to give questions like this

It's in Alabama, where there's a decent black population, so it can be considered racist.

There's also the fact that it had questions that involved drive by shootings, drugs, pimping, and gangs. It gets even more ridiculous because as a teacher, you'd think that that the guy would be smart enough to not do that

X-Naut
I am sitting here laughing at just how wrong this sounds Yeeeeeeeah I can see why he's getting suspended, these sorts of questions would be questionable even at a college level. Nym
If I was his student, I would NOT do the questions, screw the test there's morale behind that especially for the last question. Â
Captain Karnage
I would given him a high five not to mention this has happened MANY times in the past, mainly by teachers right before they retire best to go out with a bang

Ertrick36
Shit, if I was handed a less racist version of this test, I'd be at least 150% more invested in math than I am now.  And possibly much more nihilistic and generally a shittier guy than I am now. Seriously though, what the fuck is Alabama's problem with education?  You got people who can't even spell the name of their own state... Spoiler and now we've got teachers giving kids math problems involving drive-by shooting, drugs, hoing, and racist overtones. Though funny enough, that isn't the most extreme thing I know a teacher has done.  I had a teacher who, at one point in his career, would have a guy randomly run into his classroom with a pistol (loaded with blanks), yell the teacher's name, and shoot at him while he pretended to collapse.  Was a soc/crim teacher who was trying to demonstrate how unreliable witness testimonies can be, but he had to stop well before I ever took the class 'cuz a kid got scared enough to tell their parents about it. Also cursed pretty regularly in class. Tryhard
from what I understand this was a "meme" racist joke test that was made in the 80's at some point and this guy literally just lifted it and proposed it as a test for middle school kids Edited August 4, 2017 by Tryhard

Holy crap. Were you disappointed he had to stop? Just curious. 4 minutes ago, Tryhard said: from what I understand this was a "meme" racist joke test that was made in the 80's at some point and this guy literally just lifted it and proposed it as a test for middle school kids Yeah, there's the problem. Not just the racist questions themselves, but the fact that the teacher stole it and used it.

He certainly was, but he made sure his student understood just what kind of ship he ran so to speak and was far too engaging for most students to "rat him out" (it was high school; we all wanted to learn about cults and crime, and he was very "real" about it). Â In fact, after some kids took his class, they'd usually recommend all their friends to take his class as well. He's been teaching long enough to retire, and he may or may not still be teaching. 1 minute ago, Dragoncat said: Holy crap. Were you disappointed he had to stop? Just curious. Its removal didn't detract all that much from his lesson plan, though. Â I mean, the dude would have police bring in stuff like tazers and have kids shoot them at specialized demonstration targets, or give them huge body pads for police to demonstrate baton strikes. Â And we learned about all the messed up cults, including Charlie Manson and his Helter Skelter operation. Â Never a dull moment in this guy's class, that's for sure. Anacybele
Wow, Dcat, your Guzma/Plumeria kid is even in on one of those! (might not be too out of character either, it's a gang! o.o) That must be why you found it. lol But that's some pretty messed up stuff there, you don't give questions like that to kids. Seriously.
