"Come, Deirans! We do not fear you, regardless of your weaponry!" Freya shouted. "Come and face the might of Wyke, and die like those before you foolish enough to believe in your meager cause, a campaign backed by injustice to Myrcia- for I, Freya, will at least deliver you from this world with your honor intact!"

“Ah!” They’d spoken in the meeting about using gunpowder’s weakness in the strategy meeting earlier, but seeing the house next to her go up in flames was a still a bit of a shock for Claire. That wasn’t a fire spell, so why did... Were there people inside? Was that her fault? The realisation made her lip quiver slightly, before she tore her gaze from the wreckage.

I can’t let this get to me. She knew that, and it wasn’t like the surrounding area was clear of enemies either, but Claire’s face scrunched up in frustration all the same. “Do they really call themselves Justice Friends? They can’t be serious.” There was nothing just about this.

This was no doubt the group following that explosives expert Tarasque warned them about. Owen looked at them in scrutiny as they scrambled in what... pretty much had to be a rehearsed formation. Just what is going on with these men? Over the horizon, the flight of Wyverns could be seen, no doubt part of that unfortunate mercenary group that kept pestering them during battles. It seemed things were going to turn into a fight.

Once one of the men was downed, and decided to take down a house with him, Owen's eyes lit up in alarm, his sword drawn from its sheath. These men put zeal to their cause before innocent lives... What kind of foolish commander would encourage this? It certainly did not paint the Deirans any better, and made Owen fear for the repercussion of their actions. Neither Deira nor Raewald seemed worthy of taking control of the continent. "Be careful, don't engage them in corners. We couldn't have guessed the first time, but we're not here to leave the village in shambles, regroup!"

 Sighing, Owen turned to the group of swordsmen near a corner of the village, eyeing out what seemed to be their leader. "Are your men daring to destroy a village to achieve victory? Face me without any of those tricks, knave, I am right here."

It seemed that Constance had little trouble bringing the enemy down to his knees, and Suleiman quickly dispatched the enemy before he could react. Standing triumphantly over the dead body of the fighter, he turned to Constance. "Elder, be careful out here. With your old bones, what would you do if the enemy-" he was interrupted by a loud explosion, turning around to see debris near Claire. There was no sight of the soldier he had seen earlier. "Elder, did you see that? The enemy...they used explosives on the house! How could they be so vile???" 

He raised his lance to the sky, provoking the enemies ahead of him. "Deiran scum! How can you treat Myrcian lives with such disrespect, using them as hostages! You will pay with your dear lives, every single one of you! And Elder, stay behind me! You could get caught in another explosion, and I'm not interesting in seeing any of that!"

The house went up in flames, the exploding soldier being blown completely to pieces. Vesta shielded her eyes, coughing at the smell of smoke. "Jeez, you didn't need to blow him up that hard, magic girl." she spluttered. "Unless it wasn't you? I've never seen anything that can do that before, I thought it was just magic." Regardless of the source, the house, and its inhabitants were rather well toasted. The chances of survival were next to nil, but it had at least opened up the battlefield a little.

Steve peered out from behind Claire, biting his lip as he saw the smouldering remains. "Sh-sh-shit... That's terrible, I hope there weren't any children in there..." he stammered, hyperventilating slightly. "Oh man, oh geez... we need to be careful."

"Gah!" Eric yelped as he took a hit. Gh...too distracted with the first guy. He didn't feel too beaten to worry, but it still stung. What's worse, now there were assailants on two sides of him. That's...not good. Seeking to be...not surrounded, Eric sheathed his sword(for greater mobility) and ducked through the other combatants, getting a little closer to the wall.

But not too close. That was cowardly. And no one likes a coward. Thus, Eric stopped at a point where he could back towards the wall if he needed, but was still close to the fight. Like, really close. There was a soldier standing RIGHT THERE. Thinking fast, Eric drew a random blade and made the preemptive strike.

"Hah!"

Eric to (7, 11), swing the Steel Sword at Swordfighter #4.

Claire had already managed to make something explode today without even trying, so dealing with the gun holder would probably be a piece of cake.

The sight of a house exploding would be shocking... if Owen wasn't having trouble catching his breath already. He'd completely misread the leader's axe swings, suffering heavy wounds while returning only a mediocre slash at best. A terrible trade. "Ugh... I need back up." He stepped back, looking at his allies beside him, he'd nearly felt his blood run cold over having no allies proficient in healing staves with him... but Nona was trained, right? He remembered something of the sort. "Nona, Decima, could you please give a hand? I was foolish. Ugh." There was only a moment to breathe before he deflected his combat with the axeman... "We'll need to take these foes wearing belts from a distance, if possible. Somebody give the okay for that siege expert to fire." 

Vesta to (10,14), fire her ballista at swordfighter #3. 10 range baby!

Nona to (4,13), heal Owen, canto to (7,14).

Sidney yelped as the man she was doing exploded, and then a house was soon afterwards. "Wh-what in the name of Engel is WRONG with you people?! How can you possibly think what you're doing is right?" she screeched, accepting Nona's help to get away without a second thought despite her... less than convincing phrasing. "My nights are taken, thanks," she mumbled after Esclabor's lackey helped her down.

Still, she couldn't afford to be shaken for too long, and there were plenty more enemies to take down. Owen seemed to be fighting particularly poorly currently, so she took aim at one of the swordfighters charging towards him. "Hands off, loser!"

Constance dispatched her first foe with a flourish of magic she thought long gone from her. Like always, however, she held back, ensuring she wouldn't kill her opponent. Before she could see what state her enemy was in, someone else rushed in and killed them. Constance's stomach sank. Even if she didn't deliver the fatal blow, she had killed that soldier just as surely. I must steel myself or leave battlefields for good. I cannot continue this way. The spearman was talking to her. She was debating between getting angry or accepting that he did his duty, when suddenly a large blast erupted from nearby.

"Wh...why did that man explode?" she whispered. It must have been magic. But who would ever learn such a spell? How would one even practise it? Was he just really bad at the craft?

The spearman was standing forward to protect her. In a daze, she decided to heal him. She didn't want to attack again, but she had to do something. I will not be a murderer. But I will not be a liability either.

Constance use Mend on Suleiman

"Ah, thank you..." Owen was relieved, to get his wounds treated and have the assurance that the man in front of him could no longer raise his deadly axe was a great boon for the moment. The sisters were more able to hold their own in the battlefield than he thought. Now that he could catch a breather, the third exploding body caught his attention, being so close by. "What... what kind of madness." No, he couldn't let that deter him, as disgusting as it was to equip their own men to die. Owen had to see this through.

Emerald glow. Five slashes. Only after taking hasty breaths to catch himself did Owen realize. Wait. That was...

His eyes opened wide, in shock. Owen looked at his sword, held a hand to his chest, gazed down at himself. He had finally done it. The technique his family was prided for. It felt like a surreal rush of adrenaline, and a moment passing in five all the same. The prince was even shocked at the speed of his swordarm, slashing and tearing in spite of his mind barely processing it. "So... this is it. I can't believe it." He'd finally done it. Astra had been such an eluding technique that the prince was starting to doubt his legitimacy. Even Cass was able to do it... even if partially. Still, the realization couldn't help but make the prince smile. Even in the face of one of these suicidal explosions... truly disgusting. At least this surge of confidence would stop the prince from faltering as he brandished his sword. "Begone! Stop destroying this land!"
