Relic
PART 1: IN WHICH EIRIKA IS A FUCKING BOSS (Prologue, Chapter 1) So I recently got back into Fire Emblem after not really playing it for a couple of years, and I thought what better way to kick off my return than by playing some FE8? Then I looked on the forums and remembers lushen's excellent randomizer. After two years of little to no Fire Emblem, I'm coming back with a run of FE8, Randomized, Hard Mode because I hate myself, and I thought I'd share the journey with you all. So, rule of this LP: I assume you're familiar with the story, so there won't be much of that. No resets, except in very specific circumstances (i.e a green character suicides because the randomized classes have fucked up the game events) No valni. No random encounters. I think that about sums it up. So, let's get started! Spoiler Ta-da!!! Because I hate myself, I'm gonna go ahead and play on hard. Normally, that's not a big deal, but with randomizer... And we're off! Eirika's a cavalier and Seth's a Maelduin. Nice. Eirika's stats look pretty good, except for that abysmal 0 in RES. She's getting that +5 Defense from the Iron Sword, which is something cool that the randomizer does- it assigns random traits to weapons. Of course, this functionality will bite me in the ass many many times. Eirika's growths, by the way, are 45/40/5/135/35/80/10 So basically, she'll hit hard, twice, but will probably get critted in return and will be about as much use as a wet paper towel against a mage. Fun. Next up is Seth! Excellent stats, though that move is annoying. Also, they both have lightning affinity. That'll do nicely His growths: 80/115/5/10/30/80/5 He's gonna get doubled a lot, but he hits hard in return. Plus, who cares about getting doubled when you take no damage? Our boss for this round, ladies and gents. O'neill's packing a killer lance, which would hurt... If he could do any damage to Eirika or Seth Eirika starts off by shanking this poor fighter. He didn't stand a chance. And on the enemy phase, she finishes him off. The other fighter also attacked Eirika, and she stabs a sword into his face for his troubles. Having killed the two fighters, O'neill steps up. That's a scary crit chance, but it's only 6 damage. Eirika ate a crit here, but for three damage. (I moved her into the woods) Eirika gained a level but I wasn't fast enough to catch it. (+1HP,+1Str,+1Spd,+1Def) This is by far the weirdest but most hilariously broken Eirika I've ever had. With that +1 Def, O'neill can no longer damage Eirika. He crit her here... for 0 damage. Eirika shanks him. And that's the Prologue! I'm enjoying the way things are shaping up Chapter 1 Apparently I missed the positioning, but Eirika attacks a fighter, doing a ton of damage. And on the enemy phase he whiffs and kills himself. Yep, Iron Axes have the devil effect. My screenshot of Franz got lost! D: His growths are: 5/5/70/5/155/5/50 To the bench with you! Gilliam's much more interesting. 12 strength on an archer this early is really nice. His growths: 5/5/35/40/50/60/110 I could use him as a dedicated tank. He comes with the longbow, which got really lucky on the randomizer scale. Absurdly lucky. I'm gonna hate fighting those. Why, you ask? The longbow in the run gained: +8 durability, +5 might, +5 hit, and +24 Crit. Motherfucking +24 Crit. Yeah. He got crit. Having cleared up all the initial enemies, I move everyone up. A soldier attacks Eirika. He whiffs, hits himself, and Eirika crit him. Yep, Iron lances also have the devil effect. This guy also whiffed and hit himself attacking Franz, who finishes. I'm imagining this poor little bastard running up to Franz, then tripping and impaling himself. Gootta love that *tink* sound. I know, I know, I should be conserving the longbow, but it's too much fun to not use. Now for the boss. We've got a problem. Both our heavy hitters are swords, and Gilliam gets about 47 percent hit on the longbow. Even Seth can't reliably hit him. For reference, if I tried attacking with Eirika. It says 47% but fucking RNG had him miss every single god damn time. Eirika and Franz go to clean up the new reinforcements. One down, three to go. That crit chance looks mighty scary. Yeah, this is basically every single Eirika level. Basically every single Franz level as well, seeing as he has 5s in everything else.... Gilliam continues missing. Even Seth missed at least four times before he finally hit. That's the end of the chapter and this part! Let me know what I could do better, what I should have done, etc. See you soon! Relic
PART 2: GOD DAMMIT ROSS So yeah, not much happened in the thread (rip) but I did record Chapter 2. Spoiler It's time to rescue Ross and Garcia! Here's Vanessa- she's got an astounding 8 move, but not a lot else. For a mage, she's pretty tanky. Growths: 105/15/5/75/5/20/75 Ehhhhh, maybe? Moulder the Boulder. Damn, that's quite the Skill/Speed 55/5/55/5/5/85/60. Jesus, that's a lot of 5s. Bench. And our current NPCs- Ross and Garcia Ross has fairly decent stats across the board, minus the luck/res. Lightning affinity is also nice. 5/10/25/5/45/175/5 I would say I'm surprised but I'd be lying. Garcia's a Journeyman. I'm not quite sure how the randomizer handles them, but he looks to be a fairly strong- if made of paper- unit. 15/50/50/90/5/70/5 Well, he won't be made of paper for long...? Anyway, on to the action! Somehow I lost my initial deployment. Brigands have fucking 8 move. This one rushed all the way up past the armory to what Gilliam, catching me completely unaware. Yeah, you know when I said the only reason I'd reset was Green Character + RNG...? This is one of those times. A brigand attacked Ross on his turn, dealing 2 damage- then Ross fucking stabbed himself or something. Reset! This time, the initial brigand went for Moulder. It didn't end too well for him. Motherfucker. Again! This was odd timing for the screenshot, what was I thinking? This same brigand hit Gilliam again. Somehow, Ross survived this time, saving the run. Just confirmation that Brigands do in fact have 8 move. Pretty terrifying if you ask me. A brigand hits Franz for 1 damage and dies for his trouble. Apparently fireballing people also poisons them. This brigand found that out the hard way. Moulder finishes off the one Vanessa pinged. He gets attacked a lot due to his low defense, but so far he's been able to dodge most attacks. Vanessa chips... And Gilliam finishes this bitch with extreme prejudice. Was that really necessary? I bought an Iron axe for Seth, then I realized that a. it has the devil effect and b. Seth's devil axe is unbreakable. Eirika baits the boss. Garcia and a brigand spar for a bit. A brigand comes down the mountain to attack Eirika, who hits him once and misses in return. And Vanessa poisons another brigand. Garcia finishes the archer, somehow not injuring himself with the devil properties. Stop stealing my exp! Yeah, he's dead. All shall fall before Eirika. A very Gilliam level up. Interestingly, he procced his 35 skill but missed his 60 def. Franz chips down the boss... And I gave Moulder the kill. Ya know what Moulder? Someone's getting benched. A little more cleanup- Ross manages to not shank himself, critting the Brigand. And Moulder takes down this last brigand. I bought another Iron Sword for Eirika because hers is running low too chipped to use from all the bones she's broken. That's Chapter 2! Let me know what you think, oh nonexistent readers. KnightOfNohr
Not bad! There aren't a lot of Fire emblem let's plays currently active.
deskita
This seems like it'll get chaotic quickly. I think Vanessa could be an amazing tanky sage for healing with that HP growth alongside the good res and decent defence and if a tome has the eclipse effect an amazing user of that to support kills, but leveling her looks to be a nightmare with that awful magic. Would energy rings even help?
