Things you don't like about your favorite games.

Super Castlevania IV:

  • Stage 8, ugh!
  • The section of the last stage before the boss rush
  • The 8-way directional whip makes any sub-weapon not a cross (and maybe the stopwatch) pretty much useless
  • Speaking of which, I love/hate how the 3 shot cross makes most of the bosses easy peasy
  • The clock tower stage can lag at times, especially on second quest where there's more enemies

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

  • The low difficulty
  • The Galamoth fight takes forever
  • Richter doesn't get to fight the cutscene bosses (Other than Shaft) in his mode
  • The fact you have to use a library card during the final fight of the game if you want to complete the map and enemy encyclopedia.

Shinobi III

  • The second half of the last stage
  • The final boss is very difficult unless you know of a trick to cheese him
  • The sixth stage, where the first part is falling rocks, the second part is a maze, and the boss is annoying too
  • Also not a fan of stage 3

Capcom vs. SNK 2

  • Shin Akuma and Omega Rugal are jerks
  • Not all grooves have air block or roll dodge

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

  • The rng mini games, which makes getting two of the heart pieces luck based
  • Bosses where it's possible to fall into the floor below, forcing you to start the boss fight all over again
  • The ice dungeon and it's ice physics
  • Also not fond of the swimming physics
  • The freaking wizard enemies
  • When you have to deal with all flying floor pieces in a room in order to access the next room
  • Rooms where the floor falls apart

Binding Blade

  • Thinking about it now, the fact that there was absolutely no gameplay translation for Roy's "brains over brawns" characterization. There really could have been leadership stars or some other brains-related stuff that could have provided additional support/stat bonuses and the like. At least we didn't have an overpowered lord like Sigurd or Robin/Chrom. Those threw out the strategic spirit of Fire Emblem out of the window.
  • This isn't limited to Binding Blade, but the lack of "Fates!MyCastle" moments where they made the most sense sounds like fake difficulty nowadays. For example, why can't I freely visit the shops for resupplying my army in Aquleia after liberating the city in Chapter 16? Troops can resupply (which I assume that they get weapons replaced/repaired) in cities in Advanced Wars, and I'm sure real life armies throughout history did the very same thing too, so why can't Roy do the same thing?
  • The lack of balance between characters, and the lack of Skills, which essentially made BB into a stats game.
  • Jahn should have been more active and personally lead an army of Mamkutes against Roy.

Hyrule Warriors

  • The Wind Waker arc was quite short, and the final stage which had Phantom Ganon felt rather lacking in epicness. Also, there's no interaction between Wind Waker Toon-Link and Hyrule Warriors non-toon-Link.
  • Only Hylian and Goron captains for the heroes. None from the Zoras, or the Skyloftians.
  • The lack of Gerudos besides Ganondorf; there really could have made an interesting story development from that.
  • The game not being integrated into Hyrule's canon history.

Pokemon XY

  • No DLC or third/sequel game to further continue my adventure in Kalos.

Suikoden II

  • The localization is all over the place in this game and you'll also see the spelling of some character names differently.
  • The endgame bugs and glitches.  Like some enemies technically don't even have names because it's just a mess of a name.
  • Even though I love the story throughout the whole game, a lot of the game kinda just falls off after the climax boss fight mid-game.

Persona 5

  • Aside from their initial awakening to their Persona, the main cast kinda doesn't get that much character development for the rest of the story.  While I love the main cast, it's a little sad that they kinda fall into archetypes that we've seen done before.
  • Two of the late game palaces are such a bore, specifically the space and ship one.  I'm cool with the casino.
  • Mishimaisn'taPhantomThiefandthishurtsmeonapersonallevel

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

  • The tediousness and slowness of the game.  I recently finished streaming this game, but I had it on 200% speed and map animations only solely because it would've taken a lot longer to finish if it was at normal speed with combat animations on.  Like hoooooooooly crap.
  • The lackluster-ness that is the Dawn Brigade.  I love the concept of the Dawn Brigade, but that's about as much praise I can give it.
  • I'm not the first person to say this, but the story is very...meh.  It had a lot of potential and intrigue, but there are plot holes that just don't make sense.  And also Ike's ending is just....no.

Pokemon SoulSilver

  • I've been kinda spoiled by the later games, but the game is kinda slow when it comes to battles and movement.  It's definitely better than Diamond/Pearl, but I still find it a bit slow.
  • ForgivingmeunrealisticexpectationsofaPokemongamethatwilltopthisbecausethisgamedidsomuchrightforthetimeandIcanonlyhopefuturetitlescanfollowsuit

Final Fantasy Tactics (War of the Lions)

  • This game is horribly easy if you grind levels and JP super early on.  The only difficult part is honestly fighting monsters because their level matches yours.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

  • For being the "Ultimate" edition....freakin' fighting games.
  • The lack of long term support.  I just really wanted to see more characters in this art style and animations like Captain Commando, Jin, Hayato, Agent Venom, Angela, etc.
  • No balancing on super broken things.  I know the MvC series is known for just completely broken stuff, but they buffed Wesker and Doom so much that it hurts my low-tier hero heart...
  • Bullet.  Hell.

Trails in the Sky FC:

- Its sheer length. When I first played it, I loved how well detailed the world is, how it was nice to go on quests in each city and discover more about the setting. On a second playthrough, I'm finding this a daunting experience, mostly because FC drags a lot. I'm still trying to summon my courage to replay and beat it again, so that I can remember stuff from the first game (as well as how to use the Orbs system properly) and jump to SC.

Bravely Default:

- The loop. If your game's dialogue admits there is too much dragging, you know there is something wrong. Overall, it was a good idea, just not properly implemented because it doesn't feel like there is much to do other than rush to the bosses and get the loops over.

Megaman ZX:

- Not sure if it counts as one of my favorites, but still. I dislike the beginning because it is mostly cutscenes and a long, boring tutorial in the city before you can finally start doing things.

- The Area system is weird. Mega Man ZX tries to be a Metroidvania in the sense that there is a huge world outside and you have to find the spots you need to go in certain Areas (A, B, C... etc) and defeat the bosses there. The problem is, those Areas' location is not intuitive. Good luck trying to find them without a walkthrough, especially if you find out you need to go from Area A to Area L to reach Area J, which is where you actually need to go.

- Its checkpoint system sucks. You'd expect to be able to save the game before you enter an Area, go through it and find the boss, but no. If you lose all your lives, you're back to the teleporter where you accepted the mission, which is usually a long way from the Area you need to go.

- The other Models are useless, save for very specific parts where their gimmick is helpful. You will stick with Model ZX for the rest of the game, as you have no reason to switch to any of the other 4 Models (at least until you get Model OX, which is a bonus, or Model X, which is unlocked after you beat the game with both protagonists).

no I have to say bad things about Xenoblade Chronicles!

Xenoblade Chronicles-

I love everything about you except your side quests. So. Many. Collect X material and Slay X amount of monsters. At least there were some interesting ones.

Majora's Mask-

Great Bay Temple is the most tedious and time consuming thing I have ever done in a main series Zelda game.

Kid Icarus Uprising-

I hate chapter 17. I cannot express how many times I have lost all my centurions on that stage.

Fire Emblem Awakening-

The game is either stupidly easy cause of pair up, or stupidly unfair with Lunatic.

>Gunvolt: For going all in with the jargon and Japanese-exclusive side material that fleshes out side characters cast members. Also, the non-vocal tracks are a bit lacking in quality.

>Monster Hunter: Plates/Gems/Mantles aren't fun to grind for. Facing the same monster three or four times to get all the items you need is one thing. Fighting it over a dozen times to get one item is something else entirely. Also, 99% of the nonsense World has done

>Fire Emblem: RPG elements that move the focus away from strategy.

Persona 5

  • Mishimaisn'taPhantomThiefandthishurtsmeonapersonallevel

To be honest,

Spoiler

becoming a Phantom Thief would have gone against his characterization. I say this as a huge Mishima phan that is writing a story about him enthusiast that was initially sour about him essentially being forgotten by everyone. There is only one way I could see him becoming a Persona user (note how I say Persona user and not Phantom Thief), but it requires a very particular catalyst that would only happen in fan fiction.

At least, that's how I feel about. Which is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

So anyways:

Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines

  • All the women have the same torso. The men most likely do too but it's more noticeable with women for some reason.
  • That guns are useless early game but are practically required late game.
  • That more people don't know about this accidental masterpiece of a game.

Persona 3 Portable

  • The Answer being unavailable for the female protagonist.
  • Being able to only date the members of SEES (minus Junpei, the one I actually wanted) as the female protagonist. Male protagonist is forced to date every female he can support but the female protagonist is locked to Protein Junkie, Shouta-chan, Beanie Man and Death in a Yellow Scarf. Can't be with BeBe. Can't be with Student Council Boy. She got short end of stick when it came to romance.
  • Visual novel UI. I know it's because of system limitations but still.
  • Female protagonist not being canon.

Rival Schools: United by Fate

  • The female fighters have support team up attacks that only become offense team up attacks when you use a special costumed version of them that is locked to the Evolution disc. Only one girl has a offense team attack not locked to a costume but I don't want to always use her.
  • You reach the true final boss by defeating the final boss with a team up attack. Kinda annoying when you have a girl partner. It's doable but annoying.

Final Fantasy XV:  how past chapter 6 the game becomes locked on a linear path granted you can go back after completing it but the way you do it is so hidden and convoluted.

Breath of The Wild:  Dungeons are underwhelming and i feel story could have been a little better.

Fire Emblem Fates Conquest:  Story. I dont get this concept of only wound the other team and having no consequence to Corrins actions.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn:  i feel like the devs couldnt decide who to focus on so they decided to switch who you play as every couple of chapters and parts.

I'm sure i have more but thats off the top of my head.

Fallout New Vegas

  • The game has too many bugs, some simple ones like animation errors or quest marker glitches but you also have some really bad quest breaking stuff.
  • The Legion questline doesn't have enough quests and yes I know that the devs were planning to put more legion content in the game but as it stands a legion player will miss out on a lot of exp if they don't want to do NCR related quests.

Ar Nosurge Ode To An Unborn Star

  • The combat while not bad doesn't feel as good as what we had in Ar Tonelico 2.
  • You can't get the extended true ending because the prequel wasn't localized. I still think that they should have given us the full ending.

Sengoku Rance

  • The Ran route storyline is really meh. Yes I know the stories in Sengoku Rance aren't impressive but I still didn't like it.
  • The dungeon sections are really not that good. Rance VI's dungeon crawling was a lot better.

Dues Ex

  • There are some really useless skills like swimming.
  • Going rambo was too easy once you get a certain weapon which wasn't even that difficult to get.

Nier

  • The combat is way too clunky and until you gain more powers killing a lot of enemies is just a pain in the ass.
  • I get why you need to do a lot of stuff to get a certain ending but it gets really tedious farming money

Alpha Protocol

  • Using SMG's or shotguns is a waste. Using Melee/Stealth/Pistols is so much better.
  • The romances feel very lackluster.

Dark Souls

  • Everything after Anor Londo feels very rushed.
  • The framerate issue in Blighttown is absolutely inexcusable

Fire Emblem 4

  • I don't have a problem with the big maps but they really need to give us more side objectives.
  • Non horse units really need more movement.

Pokemon Soulsilver

  • I love that you can go back to gen 1 but Kanto really isn't all that balanced.
  • They decided to add a safari in the remake but you need to wait days before you can change the layout and the pokemon you can catch in it.

Morrowind

Combat

Oh, Morrowind, I love you so much. The world is just fantastically made and lovingly hand-crafted, it's packed with tons of stuff, from easter eggs like Banhammer to the fantastic guild questlines, the atmosphere and the lore are phenomenal, and best of all, it doesn't hold your hand.

But holy fuck, Morrowind's combat is ATROCIOUS. Despite being a 3D, 1st/3rd person game in which you can see your weapons making contact with the enemy, there are hit rates. What genius thought that up? To be fair, this is only really an issue in the earlygame, as you build your skills combat is less tedious, but when you're starting out, it's horrible. It's so bad, there's a mod to fix it.

Titanfall 2

Batteries

Batteries are bullshit. Inserting a battery into a titan gives it a shield on top of their health. Okay, cool! Every titan has a battery in it, too! Even better!

Problem is, your titan doesn't start with a shield, but the battery can be taken out by an enemy at any time, and killing them and putting the battery back in...gives you a shield???

Pokemon

Sinnoh

It sucks, 'nuff said.

And that's all I can think of rn.

I don't normally like to use mods on games I haven't really ever "finished" at least once, but this is kinda why I only played as a Redguard majoring in Long Blade, and possibly the Warrior birth sign for more hit rate. Having 50 Long Blade and at least 50 Strength to start out with actually makes hitting enemies a plausible prospect, and good damage while doing so.

I honestly agree with you, he works better the way he is.  I just really like Mishima because he's such a precious being.  If anything, I wish they went forward with their plan to have Hifumi as a playable character, 'cause I like her too. xP
