I'm not bothered about the animation....but how does he throw the axe at a short distance by stretching his hand like that?!? The part that happens after he hits?

It would really help if this was in slow motion or something...

It's meant to be flashy, don't question it.  A good chunk of of the GBA animations are a bit silly in the grand scheme of things, they prioritize flashiness over practicality/logic.

And it works, tbh.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer the GBA animations over the 3DS ones. The 3DS animations are mostly walk over, bonk, walk back. Or, if ranged, just throw it, bam.

Harvey, I think what he's doing is the axe is still in his hand when he hits in this case the general but Bartre is tossing it up in the air and catching it again after the attack. Sort of how Edward will throw his sword in the air after a battle in Radiant Dawn.

He chops with the right hand, lands, lets go and grabs it with the left hand, yanks the axe free and throws it as he turns around, grabs it with the right hand, and returns to his staring position.

Agreed. GBA animations: you just keep finding more and more to love.

Yeah, although it bugs me that they just rotated the axe without cleaning it up, like "nah, no one will ever notice this shit".

...Which to be honest, most people probably never will when the animation is playing out in normal speed on a gba-sized screen. But still.
