Should a Pokemon's ball type be relevant in any manner?

Barring aesthetics, should the ball a Pokemon be captured in have some sort of in-battle effect? In an older topic, someone over at the Gamefaqs board posted:

Cross armor mode:
The bond between a pokemon and its trainer is strengthened with a medium and that medium is the pokeball,

- in battle the pokeball flies around the pokemon & merges together and gains armor bilities depending on the ball types :)

- similar to Eviolite, the Armorite can only be equipped to a pokemon that can still evolve. It makes sense bcos pokeballs has been around since ancient times.

The pokemon's gains power ups and 2nd ability like
- fastball
Boost: +50 speed +25 atk +25 sp atk
2nd ability: fastforce - moves with same type as user gains priority.
-moonball
Boost: +50 hp +25 def +25 spdef
2nd ability: Moonforce - powers up allies moves and opponent can only target the user.
-Masterball
Boost: +100 randomly distributed to atk, def, sp atk, sp def, speed
2nd Ability: Silphforce: boosts catching power by 30% when the user is out. Raises foe's PP usage (stacks with pressure).
-Heavyball
Boost: +40 def +30sp def +30hp
2nd ability: Heavyforce: reduces incoming damages depending un user's weight, boosts same type moves by a balanced calculated amount equal to weight.

-Poke/Great/Ultraball
Boost: +10 to atk, def, sp atk, sp def, speed
+15 to atk, def, sp atk, sp def, speed
+20 to atk, def, sp atk, sp def, speed
2nd ability: Palletforce: increases money & exp earned after battle, occasionally shrugs off status each turn

No. In tournament play, it would be totally broken; 100 to each stat? Imagine Tapu Lele getting a 230 Sp. Atk.

Calcs: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 252 HP / 124 SpD Celesteela in Psychic Terrain: 248-292 (62.3 - 73.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Scizor in Psychic Terrain: 340-401 (99.1 - 116.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Scizor-Mega in Psychic Terrain: 283-333 (82.5 - 97%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey in Psychic Terrain: 435-513 (60.9 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Psychic Terrain: 360-424 (51.2 - 60.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Houndoom-Mega: 433-510 (148.7 - 175.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Moonforce is pretty busted. Look what happened to Talonflame. The buffs are too much. Stat increases can go a long way. Look at Raichu. Pokeballs should remain fashion and asethetic.

Remember that some pokeballs actualy do have an effect other than capture rate. the luctury ball increases freindship gain rates, the friend ball provides an imediate friendshiip buff, and the heal ball fully heals a pokemon upon capture. Note that none of these are direct in battle effects. They all effect some other variable which can be affected just as well in other ways.

While it's a novel idea, it would be incredibly painful for competitive play, I'd imagine.

Basically you'd have to study each of the Poke Ball animations to know what build your opponent is using. I can't even tell what Arceus form a player is using yet XD

So I think Poke Balls should remain cosmetic. Not everything has to be functional ^^
