Captain Karnage
So while I was working on my end of the semester paper my mind began to go off somewhere else, and it jusg happened to end up on Echoes. If you think about it, it's really Tobin's fault that Alm and Celica were seperated. If he hadn't drug the other kids to go see the knights, Fae wouldn't have gotten captured, which caused her to scream, which in turn caused Alm to rush into help them with Celica on his side, which by him bringing her she was identified by Slade, and then had to leave the village for her safety. To be brief, Tobin is the root of one of the biggest character conflicts in Echoes.

Rex Glacies
Shadow Dragon happened because a pirate decided to attack a small island nation. Awakening happened because Robin decided to sleep in a field. Fates happened because Sumeragi decided to bring his child with him on a diplomatic mission. When you stop to think about these things, most events in fiction are caused by miscue events that seem unnecessary or trivial at first glance. Only cause and effect. Or inevitability.

I'm aware you're being silly but to say Shadow Dragon happened because of pirates is plain stupid, especially when the prologue has nothing to do with pirates at all. The Pirates thing is what made the king of Talys believe that Marth was finally ready to start his journey to liberate Archanea.

Magical Glace
Local village child ruins everything. In all seriousness, they should have at least thought to bring an adult they can trust with them, ie Mycen.

And they couldn't have known the said knights would be nasty douchebags. They had to be thinking the knights would be cool dudes who'd be nice to them.
