I said yes to Town build/attack, yes to co-op, and probably not to real time versus.

The first two sound enjoyable enough to me, but real time versus would only be fun if they had some way to prevent turtling. And even if they did, I feel like SRPG versus modes get cheesed pretty easy.

Also said no to a mode that advances only when not in the app. I'd be fine with things advancing in the background while doing something else, but having to straight up not play sounds pretty opposite of why I play games.

So with the survey IS sent out, there were a few questions regarding/teasing new modes.

If you haven't taken the survey yet, please do. The more feedback we give to IS, the better Heroes will be! Otherwise what are your thoughts on these new modes?

Where can you take that survey?

I am open to everything that is a new mode

I only said yes to Co-op because that one opens tons of possibilities like having Raids and stuff that will make the friends list more useful.

Town building can be fun, but considering this is a Gacha it will be a chore to gather the resources to make something out of it. It doesn't help that the idea IS has is something like Clash Royale or the like where it would take a ton of resources and real time cooldowns to get anywhere close to minimal progress. That's just a waste imo, now if they just make it like a MyCastle or some little plaza where we interact with our units and nothing more then I'd gladly welcome it.

PvP...Just take a look at Fates PvP and you'll have the reason why I don't want to see it at all.

The sleep time advancement is iffy. Like getting resources for doing nothing....it's not bad because free stuff but at the same time what's the point? If I downloaded this thing is to play it not to let it sit on my phone while it gathers X resources while I'm doing something else, and yet auto battle in TT is almost the same as not playing the app while it gathers resources for me. I'm extremely torn on this.

co-op battle is a big yes

making a town is intereting but actually battling maybe not as much.

similarly, not sure real time battles would be a thing (for example, both players constantly running away)

i like the idea sleep time advancement, since i'm not always on my phone to play. not sure what it would entail, but anything to help me not having to be glued to my phone everytime sound good to me

Town Building/Battling - Not sure about this, if it more involved/ better than MyCastle, then it might be interesting.

Real Time Battles - This would have to really well balanced. In Fates, the PvP was heavily oriented to the Player phase (Part of it being the mechanics and skills in Fates).

Co-op - This sounds really fun! We do need more uses for the Friend List besides VG and greeting.

"Sleep Time Advancement" - I'm really not sure about this one. I have no idea what type of advancement would happen. If it is like other mobile games, where you choose an army to go and gather resources and it takes time to get them, then it might be a nice way to gain more resources.

And another question. What are some Modes that you would like to see? There was a write in part.

For me, I said an Endless mode. You take a team into a map of endless reinforcements. You earn rewards depending on many turns you survive. Battle ends when you die or when you surrender.

Another idea is a variation on my endless mode. Similar to Chain challenges/ TT, but the more maps you complete, the better rewards you get. And it is repeatable. Say best ten maps with one team, and your reward is 2-3 Orbs. You can play again and if you beat 10 maps again, you get 2-3 more orbs.

Basically I want a mode where you can farm Orbs, but it is challenging/ slow to do so.

At the end of the survey I also added these ideas:

-A function to set any unit's IVs to neutral. They probably don't want us to be able to re-roll or (God forbid) straight up choose unit IVs, so I think this would be a good middle ground. Whales would still need to whale for perfect IVs and more casual players would be more willing to spend for their favorites knowing the worst they can end up with is neutral.

-A free daily summon for low rarity units. I imagine something like 50% 1*, 45% 2*, 4% 3*, 0.7% 4*, 0.3% 5*, with the 1-2* pool being everyone who can normally be summoned at 3. So every unit is technically available, but it's mostly for low rarity skill fodder.

-Where's Micaiah at?

I know this is wishful thinking, but I've suggested a mode kind of like TT where you can grind at your own pace and there is no time limit. And maybe the rewards is a 5 star version of a unit of your choice. It would certainly help ease the bad luck people get.

That or change the bane of a unit.

Daaaaaaamn, I love that idea. I wish I hadn't taken the survey already, I would've parroted that suggestion for sure. We ran out of those little freebie units so early I never considered it.

I would have voted for FE7 if that had been an option on the survey. Or maybe Thracia to try and show that I want more dang Thracia units in the game!

As for the poll - I actually like the idea of town building, providing they do it well, so  I voted yes to that. I also would love co-op in real time, particularly if you can choose who you do it with. I'd love to play with my friend more, so I said yes to this, optimistically.

I wasn't sure what they would do with time advancement stuff (works with town building or something else, maybe) so put not sure on that one.

Hard no to real time vs battles. I really don't want any rewards locked behind that.

I like the idea of co-op, adamantly against pvp (given that every implementation in FE before has been an utter trainwreck), and I'm open to trying out the other 2 modes.

Always wanted something like a co-op mode in FE so that'd be nice.

To me, the only "PVP" mode that could work is something along the lines of Defend the throne/escort ally where one player will be trying to defend and the other will be trying to seize it.
It would discourage full passive plays.

Raid bosses would be super fun in my opinion. Co-op is a big yes to me.

About the town building, it depends on the implementation. I would give them the benefit of doubt.

Town Building: Sure. I liked MyCastle in Fates and town builder/managing stuff in general. I like they mentioned a town assault/defense mode too. that could be pretty fun if done right.

Real-time battles: Hell no. What an absolute mess pvp was in Fates. It just doesn't feel like it works in an FE game to me. Maybe with close friends you'd make custom rules for how you'll play/your teams, but otherwise I think it'd just be a frustrating experience at best.

Co-op battles: Now that I can say yes to. Playing WITH a friend against the AI sounds good to me. I'm not sure how they'd do it, especially with the current map sizes, unless each player would only get 2 units to themselves due to the constraints. Really, anything utilizing friend units further, like the VGs barely touch on, would be a nice addition.

Sleep Time Stuff: No. I liked Bravely Default, but rebuilding the town/moon was a pretty meh feature in those games. Waiting around for something to finish isn't interesting. Especially if they went the typical mobile game path of letting you pay to speed timers up. I'm not interested in that. Pocket Camp does that with furniture and amenity building, and it's not as money-grubbing as it could be, but still not something I want in this game.

I think a My Castle system could be cool, and definitely find us something to do when there's nothing else but Arena and the Training Tower. It'd also be nice to visit other people's castles and stuff. It's something I think I'd like to see.

Real player battles sound good on practice, but I can see them becoming huge staring contests unless IS comes up with a creative solution, so I don't know what to think of this. If they find a way for it to work, sure, although I would only play with friends/people I know mostly.

Co-op playing sounds very fun, though. I'd definitely like to play it with friends.

Sleep Time Advancement is good for those who don't have much time for playing the game and don't feel like missing out on stuff. I think this could work.

I don't exactly understand why people are against the Sleep Advancement system. I imagine it would work somewhat like the Poke-Palago from Sun and Moon. If I were to implement it myself, it'd probably work like this:

In the castle/town builder you can make certain facilities used to harvest various resources (I'd assume there's also more to do in the town but I haven't the faintest of what they are). Something along the lines of Mines for refining stones, Colosseum for arena medals, Hen house for feathers(?) and so on and so forth. Once the area is built, you can assign a team of up to four units to go in and harvest materials in the background. You can't use units while they're harvesting, but the incentive to use your stronger units is that they have a higher harvest rate. Let's say... 4 Star units can get 1.5X as much materials that a 3 star can collect, and 5 stars can get 2x as much as a 4 star can.

You can choose how long you leave units harvesting, anywhere between 8-24 hours. The longer you leave them, the more materials they can collect. If you leave a team of 3 stars in the Colosseum for 8 hours, they can collect 16 medals in total, four for each of them. Leave them there for 12 hours, and they collect 30. Leave em' in there for 24 hours and you get 70 medals. If you left full team of five stars in there that would be a whopping 210 medals for absolutely no work at all. Looking at it now, there's no way that we'd get that much for free, but I hope you get the idea.

I'm pretty sure that you don't have to leave the game closed for a long time to get any effect out of it. But I'm assuming everyone here sleeps at least a bit, and if you plopped some heroes into the mines while you sleep, it's never unwelcome to wake up to a few materials imo.

When I think of "Sleep Advancement", I think something like Clicker Heroes where the game simply keeps doing it's thing while you are away, and in fact there are buffs that you can use to gain benefits when "alseep".

In that way, I much prefer the Poke-Pelago system where you can keep playing the game while this other thing is going on, because the game is not encouraging you to not play it for a while.

Also "Hen House" I feel would be better fit for some sort of Pigeon mailing thing, where you send XXX to something or someone, and in the process you get feathers just by sending away and receiving.

I can only guess as to why Blazing Blade was left off (maybe they just forgot it? Maybe whoever made the poll thought simply "Fire Emblem" must have been the first game and they knew the first game was never released outside Japan?), but they obviously didn't include Japan-only games because they're Japan-only.

If they were trying to "hide" the existence of older games they're doing a pretty horrible job considering we have characters from Japan-only games in Heroes.

Someone on reddit posted a screenshot showing that they added FE7 so I guess they caught on. But still, it's not a good look to forget to include the first FE game for the western audience. I just thought that they added the characters from the Japanese only titles in the game like you said so they might as well include those games in the survey. My guess is that the number of people who have played the Japan only games are not worth collecting data on since the numbers are likely to pale in comparison to the games that had international releases.

That does indeed make more sense. Just couldn't think of a better term. Maybe "Owl coop" so Feh has a better place to sleep than just a stick.

I'm annoyed that they've added it belatedly, since I would have chosen that if I had the option, and now it may make FE7 seem less popular than it is -.-

I would've preferred the whole list, though, honestly.

Working with friends to defeat challenges/raid bosses - each of you in control of one/a few characters each - would be pretty fucking sweet, to be honest. I can't see why anyone would not want this implemented.

PVP, however, no thanks. Situations where nobody moves because it would be disadvantageous for them to do so would pretty much ruin the mode. At least, if PVP was implemented, there'd better be no rewards tied to participation/performance.
