Seems reasonable although Dusk Lycanroc placing is a bit surprising.

I love how the female voters are generally the majority XD

From what I’ve heard, when there are polls like this in Japan, the majority of voters are usually female.

Primarina is most popular starter evolution?! OMG! I honestly expected Decidueye to get that. :O But I'm not complaining! I LOVE Primarina! Nice to see Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Raichu, and Dusk Lycanroc there too! I like all of those a lot!

As for people, not too surprising. I knew Lillie was popular. Gladion and Nanu seemed to be too. I only like Lillie and the female US/UM trainer much out of that list myself. Hau is okay too tho.

A majority of the voters being female is a bit surprising too, but that's neat. Maybe this will show that we female gamers aren't as much of a minority as some think.

Maybe now they'll stop acting like the female trainer doesn't exist.

Jk, like that'll ever happen!

I would say that Pokemon has the opposite problem. They focus too much on the female player characters, that the male one hardly gets attention sometimes.

Lillie being that popular with her bro right behind her doesn't surprise me at all. I'm happy Ya Boy and Nanu also ranked high enough.

Great win for Team Popplio too!

@VincentASM How do you know the female voters are the majority? Does it say in Japanese on the images?

If you look next to their ranking number you will see an M and an F.

You're joking, right? Did you even see the marketing for Ultra Sun and Moon? It focused almost exclusively on the male trainer, the biggest offender being this nonsense:

I could say more but I'll wait to be sure if you're actually serious or not.

You do know that I’m talking about the Pokemon series as a whole right? This instance of the male character getting the attention during marketing is pretty rare. Usually they focus always on the female trainer. For example, during the trailers for new Pokemon and new Z-moves during the marketing the player trainer was always the female trainer. And in media, the female trainer tends to get more attention. Lyra, Dawn, May, Serena appeared more than their male counterparts. And even the games sometimes even favor female characters, with female characters having more clothing and hair options. It wasn’t until Ultra Sun ane Ultra Moon that the male character had as much haircuts as the female character.

I have no idea where you're getting any of this from because it's not true at all. Marketing for Pokemon games is usually pretty fair, but it prioritizes the male player when it's one or the other. Please show me a new Pokemon or Z-move trailer that didn't have the male trainer at all (and if this actually exists, there is probably an equivalent that only uses the male trainer). Meanwhile, their E3 demonstrations always use the male trainer and the demos force you to play as the male trainer.

Dawn, May, and Serena may only have appeared more than their male counterparts (if this is actually true, which I don't think it is) because they appeared in the Pokemon anime.

These are the pokemon trailers for Sun and Moon. Who is the one that appears more? The male trainer or the female one? Who is the one that appear performing the Z-moves and with the new Pokemon?

Well, I guess the S/M marketing certainly was different from the norm. I must have missed most of these.
