Due to me not knowing of this battle I send out whoever was in my first slot which is eevee.... Spoiler The worst that it can do is curse which is most likely what it will do, either that or hypnosis, so we keep eevee in and stall it for as long as we can he does go for curse, making it much easier for someone else to pick him off Spoiler But that puts Nym on a timer, so we have three turns before we need to switch our. During that time I try to weaken up the haunter using status moves, mainly growl so lick doesn't do much against zubat, my main guy for this haunter. we switch to Vanflare with Haunter at -3 attack, making it much safer for Vanflare to finish off haunter with bite! Spoiler His next Pokémon is a Magnemite, which is usually the Pokémon that causes me to lose because I have no moves to kill it with, which I would have had with Kramer, except Rocky has a times 4 effective move in Magnitude, making this irrelevant! it also has SONICBOOM, a very unfair move at this point in the game, which also causes me to lose to it a lot We switch to Rocky and once again use our press to win button, he seems to do that a lot. Spoiler His next Pokémon is Bayleef, and while I made a running joke in a past playthrough by using ice punch on my starter to beat his, I'd rather not take any chances with crit razor leaf, so we play it safe and switch into Vanflare. Spoiler I decide to go for the confuse ray since Bayleef is bulky, hoping to chip it down faster. Bayleef goes for Growl, which does nothing since bite is special in this generation Spoiler At this point it's me just using bite and confuse ray whenever I need to chip it down, and eventually Bayleef goes down! I'd like to point out that he didn't fall for confusion ONCE. 50% chance my ass His last Pokémon is his Zubat. I think you all know who we're sending out Spoiler We once again throw a rock to win. This is what the 4th or 5th time this has happened? A supriss bite crit NEARLY kills us, but Rocky shakes it off, landing his own crit rock throw, winning he's the match with no deaths! Spoiler Yeah I know what you mean that wasn't even a challenge, give me a challenge game! Spoiler Literally every single past Pokémon playthrough of mine begs to differ Spoiler That's the end of this battle! We will be setting the legendary beasts out into the open, so hopefully we can break the tie between Entei and Suicune. I decide to keep it for now for lack of a better move, but I will still consider if I want to keep it as a permenant move Spoiler We go and talk to the old man to accept his generous gift, and for once a strange old man talking to a little kid works out because we got the best HM in the game Surf! Spoiler Having a Pokémon like Golbat is going to make this much easier due to being able to possibly outspeed his haunter and more importantly, do more damage to Gengar Here is the full team before the battle Spoiler For having trained all your life you sure are quite weak all things considered Spoiler Why do you even need to train in secret? Doesn't everyone know the secrets of the legendary Pokémon? The battle begins! I decide to send out Vanflare first because I just want to get rid of this Gastly before it does anything to my team, leaving everyone as strong as possible for Gengar. Spoiler I go right for the bite to take it out ASAP, and it ends up being just shy of an OHKO! Gastly goes for the lick, doing pitiful damage, but of course it paralyzed me! Spoiler Vanflare needs as much speed as possible, so I decide to heal up his paralysis, and Gastly goes for luck again, and we avoid the paralysis Spoiler We know we will outspeed, so we go for the bite, killing the Gastly! Spoiler Morty is now sending out one of his Haunters. I decide to keep in Vanflare as I have a decent chance of outspeeding it with him Spoiler Once again I go straight for the bite, and I end up outspending! AND getting the Flinch! Since it's a 2HKO I go for a bite, effortlessly killing the haunter! Spoiler Morty is about to send out his Gengar, the Pokémon in most worried about. Since there's no way in hell im ourspeeding it, I send in Rocky so I can tank the shadow balls, due to ghost being Physical. Spoiler I go straight for the magnitude because I want this thing to die ASAP. Gengar goes for the hypnosis but misses instead! We get off a magnitude level 6, doing some good damage. Spoiler I go for another magnitude, and Gengsr goes for hypnosis and misses AGAIN! We get off a Magnitude level 6 again, Killing the gengar! Rocky is MVP!! Spoiler Morty sends out his last Haunter, and I switch back in Vanflare Spoiler We again go for the bite outspeeding the Haunter and doing some good damage. He goes for the nightshade, doing some good damage. But since we will outspeed, I go for another bite. Finishing the battle and winning us the Fogbadge! Spoiler We also get TM 30 shadow ball!
