Ideas For Book 3

Altenna's name is a portmanteau of Artemis and Athena and mirrors her adoptive brother Areone's name being a portmanteau of Ares and Orion.

I was aware of that on the mythological references page SF has. Though until you pointed it out again, I didn't notice that Arion and Altena are a hunter/ress of myth with a war god/dess, that is a rather cool combo. And it means we can keep using old mythological references for names, IS just needs to splice some together.

And here is an idea for the plot of Book 3, and beyond...

Spoiler

Book 3, it turns out the secret to defeating Surtr requires finding his wife, who despite some rumors is said not to be dead. The book revolves around finding Surtr's former beloved, being fought every step of the way by Loki and the Muspel goons. At the end, it turns out Surtr's wife is dead, and that the entire effort to stop the heroes from finding her was a ruse to conceal this truth on top of defeating them.

However, it turns out that her soul has gone to the very very very very very distant land of Duat. The heroes then decide for Book 4 to travel there. Upon arrival, they are greeted by Prince Anubi, who says the tyrannical Set has taken over the kingdom and needs help to defeat him. Alphonse and co. agree to this, since Surtr's wife is in Set's possession. They are accompanied by Fjorm, while Set receives support from Veronica, Loki, and one of the Muspel sisters.

At the end of Book 4, Set summons the Sealed Beast Apophis, who the heroes try to slay in Book 5. They fail to slay Apophis, and realize must kill Set before they can kill Apophis.

Then it turns out Set entered an alliance with Surtr and by Loki's suggestion recommended he invade the distant land of Lank. In Lank is King Rava locked in battle with a heroic character named Rama, and Rava has the potential to become the ally Set needs to vanquish Prince Anubi (who is revealed to be Set's son and only King Osir's nephew) and his allies like Princess Hath.

In Book 6, the heroes with Princess Hath thus travel to Lank while Anubi remains behind to keep Apophis in check. Siding with Rama in his war with Rava, they discover his beloved Sita has been captured by Rava's little sister Surpana. They rescue her and then by her advice seek support to the north in the nearby land of Bharata, which is Book 7.

However, it turns out Bharata was Surpana in disguise and Bharata is devastated, and Lank soon falls to Rava. Needing to shelter the surviving people of Bharata and Lank for the time being, Alfonse recommends resettling them in Askr for the time being. But upon arriving back home, Askr is attacked by Sano from the distant land of Takama. Seeking to stop Takama from doing this again, they set out in Book 8 for Tsuchi, the land which borders Takama. It turns out the haughty people of Takama are oppressing the people of Tsuchi and need help, which Alphonse and his collection of allies agree to do.

Unfortunately, Takama seals itself off while it licks its wounds after its defeat, and when it comes back it'll be even stronger. The people of Tsuchi swear to find a way to break the barrier or be prepared for the eventual return of Takama. Back in Askr, the people of Bharata and Lank it turns out are depleting the national resources too much and they must be relocated elsewhere. One individual recommends the distant land of Athrom.

In Athrom, things start off pleasant, but then the Bharatans are suddenly attacked. It turns out while King Jovius approves of the Bharatans, Queen Hera and his brother Pluthos do not. Thus kicks off Book 9.

Eventually, I won't say exactly when, we get to the Final Book. Here, things finally fall into place, with world villain in chapter after chapter suddenly falling as the last step needed to defeat them is obtained. They fall in reverse chronological order, so when Hera and Pluthos fall, the establishment at last of a refuge for the Bharatans and the Lankans lets them rest and they suddenly launch an incredibly successful campaign that defeats Sano in Takama. With the support of Tsuchi, Rava is slain, sending Set back to Duat, where he is killed and Apophis is slain. Surtr's wife's soul is freed and Surtr then ambushes the heroes before they can plan to kill him now that he is vulnerable, but they successfully counter Surtr and vanquish him.

Then it is down to freeing Veronica, a fairly easy task at this point. Once she is saved, all that mysteriously remains is Loki. Loki then laughs and reveals that she has done it. She has made all the strongest of the many worlds fight each other, and now she owns the souls all the villains the heroes have defeated. She decides it is time to add them to her collection. The final battle with Loki begins with a clash with her strongest peons, followed in Stage 2 with her herself, then she mutates into a monstrous humanoid in Stage 3, and then she mutates into a full inhuman monster in Stage 4, complete with ~24 ugly breasts measuring yards/meters long.

Loki's final words have her asking why her "master" is not giving her its support. But the heroes brush this off and return home, thinking the world is at peace. A day later, a new Tempest is reported, very strange, and the moment they go to investigate it, it suddenly rapidly expands and consumes the entire world. The heroes wake up in a strange place, and hear an ominous voice. It is Loki's master, Lord Logosdominica. Logos states he has sought to connect all the worlds and draw their might together, and all that remains now, is to open the portal to one more world- and they immediately suck up Kiran into their being. It is this world alone which remains out of their reach and they must have it! The real final battle thus commences.

Upon "winning" Phase 1, the heroes realize they can do nothing to harm Logos as long as Kiran is part of them. Thus, all the OC heroes present save the Askr trio, Veronica, Bruno and Feh combine their power and sacrifice themselves to free Kiran. Kiran freed, Logos continues fighting at nearly full strength and the heroes now attack him in his vulnerable state.

Phase 2 ends with Logos healing himself, they need to break his regeneration abilities some way, and Feh notices Kiran has an idea, use the Beldavik to fire the combined power at Logos like the OC heroes had done sort of before- the price will be those heroes' lives, but they are willing to give them up if it saves the multiverse. Veronica's Xander to her deepest sadness says he will be the focal point of the gathering energies for the blast. The Beldavik is charged and loaded with every hero not those you're using to fight with, and they are shot at Logos, stopping the regeneration and injuring him.

Phase 3 ends with Logos significantly harmed, but he refused to give in just yet, he musters all the energies from all the worlds he has gathered, and at last opens a portal to Kiran's world, ending up in a nondescript modern city. Using all of those remaining energies, he laughs his wounds and dons an aura of invincibility, the heroes realize they need another shot of the Beldavik to break this down and to deal the final blows. But they have no more heroes left save those who they need to kill Logos, so Alphonse, Sharena, Anna, Veronica, Bruno, and Feh all agree to become fuel for the Beldavik, leaving Kiran alone with the last summoned heroes to destroy Logos. They trust Kiran will survive and carry the memories of all the time they spent together with them, thus keeping them alive in some way. And this being Kiran's home world, they know they have the advantage here. Thus the remaining OCs not Kiran are reduced to pure energy and fired as Logos, breaking the invincible aura and reducing him to an ethereal form- the core essence of his being.

Phase 4 ends with Logos acknowledging its defeat, but it says it will take the entire multiverse with it! Kiran quietly realizes they cannot let this be and must quickly finish them off. Using the Beldavik, they load it with the last of the summoned heroes and pour their will into the gun. As the blast is fired, Kiran themselves disintegrates becoming part of the shot and the Beldavik itself falls apart. The scene gets so bright it fades to white.

The credits then roll, showing various statistical information customized to the individual player, and generic memories of the entire journey as well.

The post-credits scene begins with somebody opening their eyes in first person, from the sight the player sees, it is must be Kiran, for the setting is a modern apartment. Reorienting themselves, silently thinking all of what they just experienced must have been a dream, but it was too real and too much to be one. Then they hear a voice outside calling for them, they walk over to the window and look down, for they are in an apartment say three-four stories off the ground. They immediately are surprised by what they see. Alphonse and all of the other OCs plus a few summonables are there. They say briefly that they heard they lived their, turns out they're neighbors now. Things then cut to show a number of postcard-like stills, a few with motion. The multiverse survived the destruction of Logos, but all the worlds are now one really big one, so everyone will be together forever. Also, despite working for the really big bad, Loki is still around and says they've "Turned a new leaf." becoming good now, and one of the stills shows her in a bikini at the beach with others.

THE END.

It's an amusing combination of ok, heartwarming, pandering, and painfully cliche, sounds about right, sad fact is the story probably will not age well at all.

Huh, so the really Engrishly sounding Artena is more accurate...I think I'm just going to stick to calling her Altena though. Artena sounds a bit strange.

Why you would ever call her Artena is beyond me considering none of her officially translated names are that. I find no need to undo the creative liberties the original character designers took in playing with names unless they came up with something truly hideous.

given the quasi-nordic feel we're getting, I fully expect more of this to continue. Maybe we'll get a wood-elves based forest kingdom and an Asgardian utopia type kingdom.

um... the nordic feel was there from the launch of the game. Just google the Names of Ask(Askr) and Embla. or the names of the weapons from Alfonse, Sharena and Anna. This game is loosely based on Norse mythology since the beginning

Turns out Surtr is the real hero, he has decided to destroy all those who wage war, to end all the war in the world, so the askrian's decide to support him in his fight for world peace.

Surtr also killed Gunnthra so he is my favorite OC so far.

So he's United America?

Spoiler

That's a Red Dwarf reference in case anyone thinks I'm just being racist.

For Book 3... Honestly its story mode in a gacha game... no one really cares ._.

Now with that out of the way... Loki just being an ass (A sexy ass) is very funny... but it seems she might be either one of two things... the "Ephidel" or the "Gharnef" of this game...

Ephidel is whats considered as an "archetype" is essentially someone who works for the "Gharnef" of the game and creates minor nuiances and plot points in the game (With Ephidel basically tricking Darin and creating a good... 3rd of the plot? half of the chapters?) So she might be working under someone else besides Surtr… or she is the Gharnef and is using Surtr like Gharnef did to well... a lot of people (Hardin, Michalis, Grust's king, and Jiol)

Anyways people (Most noteable Sages who pointed it out) that Yglr (Yglir? idk norse mythos is tough as balls...) is actually Loki in disguise... mainly because she knew the summoners name... despite not meeting the summoner before...

Of course Im not sure if Book 2 has ended yet... but I feel Book 3 might bring back Veronica and Bruno into the fray... as something is up as we haven't seen Bruno since chapter 12... and Veronica since Book 2 chapter 2... Now for Book 3 they will probally sprinkle hints in through the next few paralogues and Tempest trials.. (similar to how they did it in Book 1... hell that's where we learned Loki's name...)

  • 2 months later...

I said it elsewhere, but I want to see Askr, Embla, Muspel and Nifl sometime (the dragons.) Four dragons, four elements. Nifl should be water, Muspel is fire, Askr should be wind, and Embla should be earth. That'd be super cool to see their designs, both in dragon form and in humanoid form. However, this seems to be too early in the overarching story for something that big. The next arc is probably something about chasing down Loki; she becomes the new big boss for book 3 that we have to find and kill. Beast units would make sense, especially since (I think) they tend to be naturally more chaotic/primal than humans/beorc tend to be. Tellius focus would be great! And I know it's a stretch, but in the latest Tap Battle, despite the overarching theme being the Black Fang, the 2nd bonus stage featured the Griel's Mercenaries' theme. Maybe that was a subtle hint? I'm probably being overly idealistic about that, though.

We already have two loose ends from Books 1 and 2: the voice in Veronica's head and Fjorm's cough. I would like it if they finally wrapped those ends up. Maybe both problems can be fixed by sticking Veronica's head into Fjorm's mouth like Anankos.

Bruno's been looking for a way to make the aggression in his and Veronica's blood stop driving them to violence. I feel like that'll be an ongoing venture spread throughout the "book" arcs. As for Fjorm, I don't know if they'll wrap that up any more than they already have since the Fjorm with us in the story is the unit we got at the beginning of book 2. So, "she'll live until she dies" sort of stuff.

Since I can't fit Veronica's head into Fjorm's mouth in my mind, I'm just imagining Fjorm biting Veronica in the head like that one Maka and Chrona scene in Soul Eater.

Bruno seems to be doing a pretty poor job of it. Maybe he could use our help.

And I'm sure my Legendary Marth can go tell Nifl to knock it off. Stop killing my Shielder. Tiki, Alm, and my 38 copies of Julia can help.

Now excluding the story, I would like to see these things get added sooner rather than later:

  • Infernal Story mode and Paralogues, where enemies have the same stats accross all levels and maybe some other additions (including Reinforcements/Turn limits/etc in earlier maps for example)
  • Another round of Hero Battles - even if only to give player easier access to some skills.
  • A way to + the Askrian Trio.
  • More GHB reruns, even of those that are currently in the daily rotation.
  • Dito to Tempest Trial units.
  • Some more "generic" units which may even get added to the 3* and 4* pool that are mainly there to give easier access to many of the newly added skills which so far are only available on a single unit.

Well I know Loki is going to cause more problems and we are probably going to fight Bruno and Veronica at least once more before they convert.  As to what I would like in book 3:

Beast units added since they are the last unit type that is missing

an increase of the 3 and 4* pools with units who aren't super popular but still have a decent amount of fans like they did with Kaze so that it makes getting a non 5* interesting again

dropping some of the units from book 1 to 3 and 4*s, such as Eldigan, saber, regular Olwen and Minerva

More ways to get merges for GHB and TT units with combat manuals they should put quests in to get combat manuals of limited characters

infernal story chapter modes since most things in game have infernal it seem silly that these don't

These are just the things I want that have a small chance of happening.

I had an idea for a story idea. Basically, the order of heroes is trying to heal Fjorm of her cold. And they find that the only way to do so is to go the hidden worlds and find an item (name is in progress). The worlds would be the world of Revelations, the world of FE6 alter (The FE6 manga Al), the world of Cipher, the world of Warriors, and the world of Three houses

Have a really far out idea, on me!

I'd greatly love for the Tempest to be revealed to be the same as the Boundless Chaos - Loki is attempting to use the Tempest to merge the worlds in ways never meant to be, hence Cipher and its OCs(Emma and Yuzu are from Hoshido, Shade is Nohrian, RandalLando hails from Elibe, Alice and Valjean appear to be from Zenith itself, and I think Nieve is confirmed to be from Aytolis and Gristonne's world? Correct me on that one if I'm wrong). We meet up with said OCs one at a time in Book 3, as they've been separated trying to fix the damage Loki's doing, and they join us throughout the next year(TT Rewards, Free Units a la Fjorm, etc), with the Book eventually culminating in...uh...shut up, I haven't got that far.

Turns out that Surtr didn’t really completely die and he now seeks another energy source since Laev’s rite was incomplete. By opening the pathways through worlds, he also gained access to alternate FE worlds where things went very differently. Loki’s world is one of these alternate worlds.

One thing I'd like to see is how Muspell rebuilds itself after Surtr's death. Did Helbindi live his encounter with Surtr? Is Laevatein the next for the throne? Will we possibly see the forces of Neo Muspell allying with Nifl in a time of need late in Book 3?

A new mechanic I'd like to see would have to be obviously the addition of Beast units. It would be a great time to do so, and it sort of fits to do it this late too. Book 1 was the tutorial, and Book 2 was The Test. Book 3 is likely going to be the point where everything becomes more serious — where it goes from being a few skirmishes to being a full all-out war, but Book 3 would be the beginning. Beast units would be indispensable in times of war due to their capabilities, and many would sense the threat of war, so seeing Beast units (and summoning them) may be pretty likely.

Another mechanic I'd love to see is ally units. I don't mean having more available units (though that would honestly be nice, even if it's very doubtful), I mean having specific uncontrollable units on your side. Perhaps one or more story maps could have an Escort Mission mechanic, where the ally character moves along a specific path and you have to protect said ally from enemies along the path.

Another thing I'd love to have in the game, even though it's a personal want of mine, is character-exclusive upgrades for Assist, Special, and Passive skills. Like how many units have character-exclusive weapons that they weren't introduced with (Felicia with Felicia's Plate, Fir with Nameless Blade, etc.), units could have exclusive Passives and such. Lon'qu could have an exclusive upgrade for Vantage (either with a better HP condition or more powerful effect), Alfonse could have an upgrade for Defiant Atk that eases up on the HP condition (75% would be perfect, making it fit perfectly with Desperation). Cordelia could receive an upgrade of Pass that transfers the effect of Pass to Flier allies. Innes could get an upgrade of Fortress Res that reduces the Atk loss and/or possibly raise the Res gain. Heck, for Specials Peri could have an upgrade of Glimmer that boosts damage by 100% instead of 50%. They're just random ideas, but the potential wasted by not doing something like this feels, well...wasteful. And...this has to do with Book 3 in the same way the Weapon Forge has to do with Book 1.

Lastly, two things (even though this has less to do with Book 3 and more about helping units in the game). One, Healers should start having either a) less restrictions on some Passives or b) access to Healer-only skills that make them more capable of being specialized at healing or battling. Having access to Bond, Brazen, and Solo skills is a great step in the right direction, but they need something...more. Anyhow, the last thing is that Infantry should start getting more powerful C skills (meaning, class-specific Hone/Fortify/Goad/Ward skills) so that IS can have an excuse to make more anti-Infantry weapons than Poison Dagger+. I'm very happy that they've started to make Infantry more powerful recently, but once they stop and give a few months with nothing new they'll lose a lot of presence again. Cavalry getting some movement-exclusive skills like the Armored "Fighter" skills would be nice too, though that's less of an issue.

Lots of cool ideas! One that stood out to me is how Múspell is going to rebuild. I don't think Helbindi survived his Surtr encounter... but I wouldn't complain if he did! Also, I believe that Fjorm mentioned to Hrid that Laevatein is now ruling the kingdom, which, while I like her, she's probably not the best candidate for the job. She mostly just takes orders and follows them, almost never taking the initiative herself. And she's prone to, shall we say, rash decisions when under duress. Maybe it could be a mini coming-of-age arc where Laev needs to adapt quickly or become overwhelmed with the responsibilities of the throne? Sounds more like a "main character" arc, but hey, if Veronica can be a Brave Hero, then anything's possible.

I too am looking forward to beast units, in whatever form they take in Heroes. They're an integral part of Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn, and not-insignificant roles in other games as well. Can't let dragons have all the fun, can we?

Character-exclusive upgrades for Assist, Special, and Passive skills would be awesome! One of the best parts of Fates for me was how each character was unique in their individual skills, something I hope IS continues in future installments. I'm thinking a future alt of Robin will have Rally Spectrum in some shape or form, and that will be exclusive to him/her.

As for healer and infantry improvements, I dunno! Judging by the datamine, I think Book 3 will bring in some intense stuff. Let's hope!

Thanks :3

Though, here's another idea I have (unlikely, but possible) that IS could implement: adding skills to characters that don't naturally have that slot filled. What I mean is giving units a free (except for SP, which still needs to be grinded) Assist or Special skill if they don't naturally have one. Default!M-Robin has Bonfire, and Default!F-Robin has Ignis, but neither of them has an Assist skill...so it would be amazing if they could eventually get a free exclusive Rally skill (like Rally Spectrum).
