Has anyone here ever used stranger chats before?

Recommended Posts

Stranger chats basically match you up with an anonymous user to chat with.

So I wanted to know if anyone else used them before and what kind of experiences they had with them.

For me, I unfortunately ended up mostly talking with people who just wanted nudes or something. A lot of them would ask for my gender, and if I replied with "male" they'd immediately leave.

And I also ended up with people who wanted to talk about sex and nothing else. Which made things awkward.

What, something like ICQ or MiRC? Yep, been through those. It can be as random as @Darros suggests, or you get people wanting one of these (sometimes both):

  • porn
  • warez downloads/torrents

Most of the time you get asinine piffle like "IF YOU LIKE SOME POP STAR PRESS 22222222." A bunch of turds who obviously don't know better would reply and on comes the circle jerk mutual admiration society.

. . .what were you expecting?

I mean, it was my first time using it, so I didn't know how it would be like, heheh.

I guess I can agree with that then.

I had some friends who pretended to be Middle Eastern militants holding a hostage at gunpoint (they used an airsoft gun, but the orange tip was painted black so it looked semi-real) while surfing through these chat rooms, usually seeking someone else with a webcam.  This was, like, in middle school or high school, and I don't think anyone really fell for it... but still, they were kind of knuckleheads for doing that.

I only browsed such chat rooms occasionally, and only with friends; we used something like Omegle or whatever, but nothing from the really early days of the internet.  About, like, 80% of the time it was dudes... fondling themselves (a wonderful thing to see when you're just starting to learn about sex /sarcasm), and the rest was usually that asl crap.  And that's precisely why it was merely an occasional thing.  Also is a big reason why stranger chat rooms are banned in schools.

My brother was really into surfing the chats for some odd reason.  He was probably one of the trolls/catfishes, which is honestly the only kind of entertainment I could see anyone getting out of that.

This post reeks of 2004.

The only thing missing is a "lol" in there.

I remember a few years ago when I was still in middle school, we were at my grandparents with my siblings and cousins (they are all younger than me), and they introduced me to the wonder that "ismeretlenek" is. It literally means "strangers" in hungarian, and it is basically a chat site where you choose your gender, and the gender you want to chat with, and voilá. It was mostly used by like, well, kids (it feels strange to say this, as I was a kid as well, but it was not so used by my age group), and by strange fellas, asking for nudes and stuff (basically all the same as everyone else said).

So, I was paired with a girl, she was like a year younger than me (at least she said that, there was no webcam option - not that I would've used it anyway...), and we started talking about some stuff. At one point I said it's strange to talk with some stranger, who is not acting like all the others my sister and cousin have trolled here, and she asked if it was my first time using this site, than told me it really is mostly about perverts/trolls. We continued to talk for like an hour. It was surprising. Like, I want to say I barely even knew her, but it's a lie, as I didn't knew her at all. We were talking about books, music, films and then about everyday stuff like sports, hobbies. I don't actually remember what happened in the end. I know something happened to the laptop I used, like the battery died, or disconnected from the wifi, I don't know, but basically we were disconnected and so I never learned who she was. Looking back on it feels really strange. Like, as if it had some meaning. Or maybe I'm just reading too much Murakami lately, and I start to think like one of his characters about the past. Anyways, I haven't used that site since then, so I don't know what people are there nowadays, but I guess it's basically the same.

So the thing I want to say is, rarely, like, super-rarely, there is a chance you will meet someone, who is not like everyone else on these sites, but you have to be really lucky for that. So yeah, you can have positive experience, but it's more likely you will have a negative one.
