Agreed, I generally like his character designs, but I might be a tad bias because y’know I’m a Dragon Ball nerd.

I like his character designs, too. Dragon Quest is one of my favorite game franchises, Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite video games period, and I'll always have a soft spot for Dragon Ball, since Z was involved in many of my formative years.

But his hero designs all look very samey. He's pretty good at designing ugly/weird characters, but you can tell pretty quickly when a character is a Toriyama character. He has about 3 different eye types, samey head shape, and really only varies it up with hairstyle. And even then he's pretty limited. It's actually one of the reasons I like DQ7's art so much, since it's a pretty big departure from his usual style. It's more Slump-y than Dragon Ball-y. Everybody's so soft in that game, compared to his usual hyper-angular stuff.

Yeah DQ and Chrono Trigger have some really good art, and such in general I still need to play DQ7 so I’ll have to look into that, I’ve only really played 1, 5, 8 and Heroes.

Its funny because I’ve been watching a series that’s been covering the Dragon Ball Manga from start to finish (which I’ve read) but, I’m finally noticing he shifted to the more angular style as time went on in Dragon Ball (round the end of the Freeza Arc and the beginning of the Android one is when it’s the most noticeable).

Calling Ninja Gaiden niche is kind of weird though as said it’s one of the more iconic series from the NES era. The modern games were generally well received besides 3 (but then again 3 was the weakest by far). It’s been dormant sure, but he’s still around, he never misses a Dead or Alive game after all, and he’s been in a few Warriors crossovers.

That's the thing. He has legacy and isn't completely dead, but the Ninja Gaiden name hasn't been attached to anything for the past half decade-- with WO3U and All-Stars being his only notable appearances since Razor's Edge.

Vegeta's the character to look at the most when looking at the shift. He almost has a completely different character design from the beginning of the Frieza saga to the beginning of the Android saga. Everyone else has a gradual change to angular, but it's like Toriyama decided that he needed to change him now that he knew he was sticking around.

I found the manga at the library across the street from my house when I was like, 10 or 11 and DBZ was in the middle of the Buu saga, and that was a pretty big thing to get used to.

DoA6 has him. And DoA is connected to the Ninja Gaiden canon, might be a stretch but he's still around in the modern day.

Oh right, forgot he was in DOA... somehow.

My point still kinda stands in that his own series is dormant right now, which has kept him out of the spotlight.

Well now that it's out there in the open, Mr. Brave was known about since launch day by hackers.

Sucks to hear about people genuinely trying to keep this stuff secret still failing. How greedy can the internet get?

Some folks want the 5 seconds of fame regardless of the cost to other people. Sucks, but it's just part of our super connected life via the internet now.

I want to believe that "Brave" is a codename to throw people off.

Like, what's the character you would least associate with the word "Brave"

Well... Lester the Unlikely is cowardly :p

Courage the cowardly dog!

...Wait, I'm not sure if I answered your question accurately or if I was completely off the mark.

I'd be disappointed if Mementos was the stage choice. It is very much the weakest aspect of Persona 5.

Also quite baffling that in a game that offers such insane possibilities as a government building cruise ship, a burger company in space, a casino, a mafia bank, an art museum, a sex castle, and an Egyptian techno-pyramid, they went with Mementos.

As if Smash doesn't have a track record of mostly picking bland earlygame stages in the first place, there's Atlus' draconian spoiler policy to consider as well; it's very possible that they vetoed the stage choice.

Mementos is definitely the go-to option for a general, non-specific Persona 5 stage, though.

They still don't let people stream past a certain point in P5 either and it's been awhile x.x. Unless that changed.

What Persona 5 environment could they even choose besides Mementos? Even if they were okay with Palace spoilers, it begs questions like why the top of Futaba's palace over Kamoshida's throne room?

And just because Mementos is a slog to play through in the context of Persona 5 doesn't make it any less suitable of a stage for Smash. I don't complain about Magicant in Smash because I have to constantly return to that place in Mother 1. What they built was a beautiful and creative stage out of a unique environment.

I'm currently playing through it and constantly seeing notifications that I can't stream or take screenshots, so no, it hasn't changed.

Gotcha, sounds like typical Atlus, heck they didn't even let the P4 cast have their Ultimate Personas in P4 Arena/BBTag.

I feel like Joker will be similarly basic.

Huh, I actually never got such notifications, then I remembered I have the PS3 version. And PS3 has HDCP protection to make the console un-streamable without switching to A/V input or using some hardware workaround to trick the system into thinking gameplay isn't being recorded. PS4 also has HDCP protection, but it's smart enough that it generally only turns on whenever a Blu-Ray movie is put into the system. But then developers found out that they can program their games to "protect" certain scenes from streaming. Or else have warnings about streaming gameplay that trigger when the system is being recorded.

Thinking about it though, I'm pretty sure I've seen plenty of footage of later stages of the game being streamed on Twitch and uploaded to Youtube, leading me to wonder if they ever actually issued a takedown on channels.

I mean, they probably wouldn't have gone with something like a "sex castle" anyways considering the target audience includes younger folks. :P
