Instructions

Installation

  1. Download the patch using the above links.
  2. Extract the ips file (which is the actual patch) from the compressed file. Recommended programs would be 7zip or WinRar.
  3. If you haven’t already—this is the important part—find a copy of the Japanese Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (or other Fire Emblem) ROM. Note that owning a ROM is illegal, so only download if you are very sure.
  4. Place the .IPS file into the same folder as the ROM file. Rename the .IPS file so that it has the same name as the ROM file, ignoring the file extension (for example if the ROM is called fire_emblem.gba, rename the patch as fire_emblem.ips).
  5. Load up the ROM using a GBA emulator and you can start playing!

Troubleshooting

Patch not working? Try one (or more)of the following things:

  1. Make sure that you are using the Japanese ROM! The patch doesn’t work for the English version.
  2. Check that the ips file has the correct name! Even if you mis-copied one letter it won’t work!
  3. Perhaps auto patching isn’t working. In this case you’ll have to find a program to hard patch your ROM. Recommended programs would be Lunar IPS or IPSWin. Download either of these programs and follow their instructions.
  4. This is getting a bit desperate now, but why not try another GBA emulator or find a more up-to-date version?
