Before Battle (Laguz Alliance Camp)

Ranulf:
“Now, our next target is Mugill…… Its gate is already sealed, and it looks like they intend to keep it that way. This won’t go as easily as our previous battle in Flaguerre.”

Skrimir:
“Yaawwwwn… Beorc are all the same. No matter their resistance, we will run them down, just as before.”

Ranulf:
“Skrimir, please… Listen. Just this once.”

Skrimir:
“Hmmph…..”

Ranulf:
“Originally we planned to take Flaguerre and Mugill before the enemy could prepare themselves….. However Mugill has set up defences faster than we expected.”

Ike:
“What do you think, Soren?”

Soren:
“…I believe it’s the work of the Flaguerre survivors. The soldiers’ battle back at the fortress– how should I say it? As soldiers of the empire, they performed atrociously. However, their retreat was well executed.”

Ranulf:
“So it looks like the survivors warned Mugill of our advance. It’s no wonder the defences are so much better than back at Flaguerre. Then…… it looks like we’re going to have a hard time.”

Soren:
“This outcome was so obvious, even you must have anticipated it. You don’t have a plan?”

Ranulf:
“… Truth be told, for the battles against Flaguerre and Mugill, we only thought of using Blitzkrieg tactics to take out the enemy in one strike. We didn’t think up any backup plans.”

Soren:
“…… Are you serious?”

Skrimir:
“Yeah, that’s right. You have a problem, Beorc boy?”

Soren:
“…How are you planning to fight in front of tightly-shut gates and against soldiers behind stone walls?”

Skrimir:
“Soldiers are born to fight. No soldier would hide after being challenged to a battle! That’s just absurd. Only a coward would stoop to such a low. If a soldier from Gallia did that, that would be the lowest.”

Soren:
“Please stop and think for a second. Isn’t it true that your enemies aren’t the beast tribe, and definitely are not Laguz? The enemy did not build the fortress so they could stand outside of it. They will not come out of their own accord.”

Skrimir:
“Ha! So that’s it. You Beorc are all cowards! You claim you’re the masters of this continent, but you can’t even fight a fair war with us! Hey, Ranulf! Forget about Mugill!! There’s nothing threatening about ants who are afraid to leave their holes!”

Ranulf:
“We can’t do that. If we just left Mugill as is, and carried on advancing… it would be dangerous if they ambushed us from behind.”

Soren:
“And that’s almost certain to happen.”

Skrimir:
“Urgh… Those cowards! Then, what do we do? I do not know how to fight cowards!”

Ranulf:
“Don’t you get it? That’s what we’re trying to decide! What we really need is an opening. If we could just open the city gate.. then we’ve got a chance.”

Skrimir:
“Okay, it’s decided.”

Ranulf:
“…Skrimir. We haven’t even thought of a way to get the gate open.”

Skrimir:
“No! That’s your job, Ranulf! You’re my second in command. Think of a way for me to use my strength! Anything else is a waste of time. I’ll be training outside with the other warriors. Tell me when you have a plan.”

Ranulf:
“Wait, Skrimir!”

(Skrimir leaves)

Ranulf:
“………”

Soren:
“……This is ridiculous. I’m amazed that someone was desperate enough to make that fool a general.”

Ranulf:
“I’m tempted to agree with you on that. But there’s a reason he’s here.”

(Image of Gallia castle)

Ranulf:
“Never in its history has Gallia invaded another country. We don’t have any experience or tactics to fall back on for this. The only time we fought against another country was when Begnion sent soldiers to attack us, and tried to force us to give up our country and return to slavery– back then, we fought using guerilla tactics in the deep forests of Gallia. That’s the only way we know to fight.”

Soren:
“…If you’re lacking experience, you can still learn, right?”

Ranulf:
“… I’m sure you’ve all seen it yourself. Gallia’s General Skrimir doesn’t pay attention to details, nor does he strategize. Sadly, it’s not just Skrimir. Most laguz are the same. They’re arrogant and stubborn, thinking that all you need is brute strength to defeat the enemy. It doesn’t even occur to them that they won’t be able to power through the beorc forever.”

Ike:
“Why isn’t Caineghis leading the army?”

Ranulf:
“It’s not an option. We aren’t mobile like the bird tribes. Once we leave our lands, it isn’t easy for us to get back. We can’t take our king away from his domain. The Holy Pegasus Knights and Holy Wyvern Riders… that Begnion possess are an incredibly powerful air force. If they discovered that our King had left… they wouldn’t hesitate to smash our country.”

Ike:
“Well, what about Giffca then, or even you, Ranulf? There have to be other capable generals in Gallia.”

Ranulf:
“No, I’m not strong enough. You’d think General Giffca would lead, but… Giffca has other duties to attend to, so really, that just leaves Skrimir.”

Soren:
“I understand. Laguz choose their leaders based on strength. If Skrimir is to be the next king, this war is the best opportunity for him to learn about strategy.”

Ranulf:
“Exactly. When we decided to ally with Beorc, Skrimir was against it to the end, until he listened to the King…”

Ike:
“If I can just say something, may we fight as well?”

Ranulf:
“……I don’t have anything against it. However this battle is for us laguz. So……”

Ike:
“…Sorry. I was just thinking aloud.”

Ranulf:
“…How about this? First, I’ll abandon my useless pride. Because if things continue like this, we’re going to get nowhere. Please, lend us your beorc wisdom.”

Ike:
“You can count on us, Ranulf.”

Titania:
“We’ve told you already. We’re here to help.”

Soren:
“……”

Ike:
“Any problems, Soren?”

Soren:
“…Fine. But it’ll cost you more.”

Ranulf:
“Thanks, all of you. We appreciate the help.”

Soren:
“Well, we’d better hurry… Give me some time to myself. I’ll come up with a plan to get us through this mess.”

Ike:
“How long do you need?”

Soren:
“One night will be enough.”

Titania:
“Haha, talk about reliable.”

Ranulf:
“Oh great reliable advisor! …No, let’s call you “strategist” from now on.”

Ike:
“Great. We’re counting on you, Soren.”

Soren:
“I know. I’ll do what I can.”

Before Battle (Mugill)

Begnion Soldier 1:
“Whew~ …It sure is hot tonight.”

Begnion Soldier 2:
“Tell me about it. Usually we have to go out for a couple of drinks during patrols just to cool ourselves down.”

Begnion Soldier 1:
“Man, it’s so infuriating. These sub-humans must be crazy to attack here!”

Begnion Soldier 2:
“We humans don’t need to know what those beasts are thinking.”

Begnion Soldier 1:
“Well, we have enough food. We just need to we hold out long enough until they give up.”

(Mist and others appear)

Mist:
“Um… Sorry we’re late!”

Begnion Soldier 2:
“Who are you? Why are you outside? The city is under lockdown! You need permission to leave your homes!”

Mist:
“What? Well, that’s weird. We were told to hand out food to all the watchmen… Well, I guess this isn’t the place.”

Begnion Soldier 2:
“Wh-what?”

Begnion Soldier 1:
“Hey-hey!”

(Mist and the others discuss with one another)

Mist:
“What should we do? We can’t let the food go to spoil. Then again, we’ve already been paid, so it’s no real loss to us…… Let’s head back then.”

(Mist and others face the soldiers)

Mist:
“Sorry about the mix-up, goodbye.”

(Mist and others begin to leave)

Begnion Soldier 1:
“W-wait! Don’t go!”

Mist:
“Huh, what is it?”

Begnion Soldier 1:
“Who ordered you to come here?”

Mist:
“It was a general with a white moutache. He looked strong and dignified… Oops, how silly of me, I forgot his name.”

Begnion Soldier 2:
“That must be Lord Butler! He is always very kind towards us watchmen.”

Begnion Soldier 1:
“R-right! You don’t have to head back. That food is for us.”

Mist:
“Oh, wonderful! Would you call everyone, then? I’ll pass out the food and drinks.”

(Focus moves to Greil’s mercenaries)

Ike:
“Looks like the watchmen are all asleep. Great job, everyone.”

Lethe:
“We didn’t do anything. It was all Mist’s work.”

Mist:
“Th-that’s not true…”

Lethe:
“But…..I can’t believe they fell for it so easily…”

Lyre:
“Beorc truly are simple-minded creatures. Falling for such a simple ruse… Were we in their place, we’d catch on in an instant.”

Lethe:
“Lyre!”

Lyre:
“What I said was the truth.”

Ike:
“But it’s for that reason that everything went according to plan. Isn’t that good?”

Lethe:
“Well, I guess so.”

Soren:
“We don’t have much time to waste. Next, we clear out the remaining guards and open the main gate.”

Ike:
“Ranulf and his troops are waiting outside for us. Let’s go!”

(Focus moves to Begnion soldiers)

Begnion Soldier 1:
“Wh-who are you?!”

Begnion Soldier:
“Sub-humans! What’s going on?! What happened to the lookout?!”

Rommit:
“Stand your ground! It’s almost time for the changing of the guards. When that time comes, others will come to back us up. Hold fast until they arrive!”

(Battle ends)

Ike:
“Are we clear? Good work, everyone. Open the gate!”

After Battle (Mugill)

Gallian Soldier 1:
“The gate is opening!”

Skrimir:
“Ah, finally! Soldiers of Gallia! Follow me! As long as I lead you in battle, we will always win! Crush any who stand in your way!”

Ranulf:
“…Phew. Great timing, Ike.”

After Battle (Laguz Alliance Camp)

Ranulf:
“Hey, Ike! Some of your old friends are here to see you.”

Ike:
“Hm?”

???:
“Hey! Over here! Long time no see, Commander Ike.”

Ike:
“Muston! You came!”

Muston:
“It’s great to be doing business with the Greil Mercenaries again. And with you too, my feline friend.”

Ranulf:
“Oh, you called them out here? I thought they just smelled a battle and sensed the profits!”

Ike:
“Well, we can’t fight naked, like you laguz can.”

Ranulf:
“…Sorry. I should have thought of that.”

Ike:
“Don’t worry about it. Just seeing that sorry look on your face is enough compensation.”

Ranulf:
“Well…”

Muston:
“Oh yeah, commander. We’ve joined with our companions at Crimea. Everyone’s missed you. They’re resting in this tent here right now. When you have time, make sure to go and greet them.”

Ike:
“Thanks, I will.”

(Muston leaves)

Ranulf:
“What did you discuss?”

Ike:
“We won’t be able to help out much just by ourselves. So I called our old friends along to help. It seems they all came together. They came here much earlier than I expected as well.”

Ranulf:
“……You’ve done so much for us already, and now you do all this…”

Ike:
“Listen, when we fought Daein, Gallia came to Crimea’s aid without any questions. Now we’re returning the favor, that’s all.”

Ranulf:
“…All right. In any case, you guys are a great help. Thank you so much.”
