Echoes: Japanese Site Details Series 2 and 3 DLC

Today, the Japanese official website for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia updated with new information about the tentative Series 2 and 3 DLC.

As it happens, Series 2–dubbed “Heroes’ Challenge”–is available to purchase now. Whereas Series 1 was geared towards early-game, the maps in this series will benefit those who’ve reached mid-game or beyond.

Additionally, all players can download the 3rd piece of free DLC–“Goddess’s Gift 3”, which grants a rare Taurus shard and 5 shiny Golden Marks.

Series 3 will arrive a bit later, starting from 24th May 2017. This series is divided into the “Sealed Altar”, which contains 10 new ultimate classes, and the “Prelude of the Deliverance”, four story maps that occur before Alm’s journey starts.

Everything we currently know can be found in our DLC section. Or if you’d like, keep reading for the full lowdown!

Japan: Thracia 776 Released on new 3DS Virtual Console

To celebrate the 26th anniversary of the Super Famicom (the Japanese version of the SNES), Nintendo has bombarded the 3DS eShop with a bunch of new Super Famicom Virtual Console titles.

Among them is Fire Emblem Thracia 776, the 5th Fire Emblem title starring Prince Leif of Leonster. Taking place around the halfway point of Genealogy of the Holy War, the game is also renown for its merciless difficulty.

Those who own a Japanese new Nintendo 3DS (XL) can download the game starting today. The game is priced at 926 Yen (including tax), which works out to be just over 8 US dollars. If you’ve connected your NNID, you can purchase it from Nintendo’s website.

Fates: European Map Pack 2 Schedule

While Fire Emblem fans in Europe still await the launch of the remaining 4 DLC maps from Map Pack 1, one of which (Vanguard Dawn) is available today, Nintendo has sneakily updated their website with details of Map Pack 2.

Unsurprisingly, Map Pack 2 will be up for purchase starting from 21st July 2016, a week after all the content of Map Pack 1 is done and dusted. However, unlike in North America, three maps will be released each week (for two weeks), similar to in Japan.

Map Pack 2 costs 7.19 GBP or 7.99 EUR, which is almost a 25% saving. If you opt to buy the maps individually, the first map I: In Endless Dreams costs 0.49 GBP/EUR, while the other five maps will set you back 1.79 GBP / 1.99 EUR each.

From 21st July, players can also download Another Gift from Anna for free, to instantly add a valuable Boots item and elusive Paragon skill scroll (which doubles experience earned) to their convoy.

With luck, we’ll find out if there’s a Map Pack 3 (containing the currently unreleased festival maps) sooner than later.
