Fire Emblem Engage: “Ask the Developer” Interview

Just before Fire Emblem Engage officially launches, Nintendo has published a really cool interview with the FE Engage development team, as part of their “Ask the Developer” series.

The interview is split into three chapters.

In Chapter 1, the developers introduce themselves and the concept of FE Engage. They also explain how they came up with the Emblem mechanic.

Next, in Chapter 2, they discuss the various characters and, naturally, Mika Pikazo’s artwork. It turns out Alear and Céline were the first characters she designed. Also, there are rough sketches of most of the playable cast!

Finally, Chapter 3 goes over some of their struggles and excitement when balancing the game around the powerful Emblems.

In addition, they tease some of the future DLC, including the Divine Paralogues and Fell Xenologues. In the former, you can recruit many Emblems, such as Tiki. Meanwhile, in Fell Xenologues, you can enjoy a new side story.

Three Houses: Nintendo Shares 4 Picturesque Desktop Wallpapers

Here’s something slightly unexpected. Nintendo has shared a bunch of wallpapers for their biggest Switch titles, including four for Three Houses.

The wallpapers are of the game’s key art, the title screen with Sothis on the throne, Garreg Mach Monastery during the evening and the Cathedral. You can grab them from the special website. All wallpapers are 1920 x 1080 pixels in size.

Of note, this is probably the only time the Sothis artwork has been released in high quality. That said, it’s not that much bigger than the one found in-game.

By the way, if you’re looking for other artwork that could be used for a wallpaper, please check out our Three Houses gallery. The ones of the monastery during the day are quite nice! As an extra bonus, here’s the Maddening version of the Sothis title screen artwork.

Nintendo’s New President: Tatsumi Kimishima

Over two months have passed since the passing of one of gaming’s most influential representatives, Satoru Iwata. He left some incredible shoes to fill, but Nintendo seems to have finally found the right man to wear them.

Tatsumi Kimishima was announced today to be the successor to Iwata as the President of Nintendo. Kimishima is no stranger to Nintendo, as he previously held Nintendo of America’s position as President (now represented by Reggie Fils-Aime) and acted as Representative Director of the Pokémon Company.

It is not yet known how his presence will impact Nintendo as a whole, but with his strong background in business and finance, as well as his influence with Nintendo since the dawn of the 21st century, he will be put to the test and hopefully able to succeed Iwata as Nintendo’s next great President.

Kimishima officially begins on September 16, 2015.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Has Passed Away

Today, Nintendo announced the deeply saddening news that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata passed away on 11th July 2015.

Iwata was a great man who, among many things, changed the way Nintendo interacted with its fans, with his informative “Iwata Asks” interviews and delightful “Nintendo Direct” presentations.

In a sense, Iwata was a friend to Nintendo fans across the globe. Although he may be gone, his legacy will surely live on in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Mr. Iwata.
