New Vestaria Saga Side-story “Norden Civil War” Currently In Production

Recently, S_Kaga unveiled a prototype for a new Vestaria Saga side-story on his blog. Known as Vestaria Saga Gaiden: Norden Civil War, it focuses on the conflict within the Kingdom of Norden and occurs around the same time as another side-story, Holy Sword of Silvanister.

(Many thanks to MovesetMaker for sharing this info via Reddit. Screenshots belong to S_Kaga and Vestaria Project.)

For reference, Norden Civil War is actually the 3rd side-story in the Vestaria Saga series. A full sequel “Vestaria Saga II” is also in the works, although it’ll be longer before it comes into fruition. The original Vestaria Saga was released back in 2016 and officially localised during 2019.

Unlike the other games in the series, Norden Civil War is not a traditional Strategy RPG, like the Fire Emblem games. Instead, it’s a territorial-based strategy game, similar to “Nobunaga’s Ambition”. The reason for the genre change is because S_Kaga wants to try something fresh–and because he can.

Players will be able to control up to 40 characters, each with multiple squads attached to them. The game will apparently feature a fairly realistic depiction of war, as 7 tribal nations vie for control of Norden. There isn’t a singular protagonist and the story will be quite broad, similar to TearRing Saga.

Vestaria Saga “Silverbirch’s Sacred Sword” and “Heroes of Lucca” Released!

English fans are still waiting for the official translation of Vestaria Saga I, the latest game by the creator of the Fire Emblem series. But lo and behold, S_Kaga has just released both of his brand new gaiden (side story) games on the same day.

Left: Silverbirch’s Sacred Sword, Right: Heroes of Lucca

You can download the games via the official Vestaria Saga webpage. Check the Download page, then scroll to the bottom. You’ll need to click the top option to accept the terms and conditions. Then the download links will appear.

The first download link is for the original Vestaria Saga I, while the next is for Silverbirch’s Sacred Sword and the third is for Heroes of Lucca. Like the original game, the side stories are Japanese-only and available on PC only.

Although knowledge of Vestaria Saga I isn’t necessary, it is highly recommended that you play it first because both side stories are deeply connected. All three games are free, although the English version of Vestaria Saga I will be paid (to offset translation costs).

Vestaria Saga: Interview with DANGEN Entertainment

During the middle of August, the official English version of Vestaria Saga was announced, together with a playable demo.

Around this time, we reached out to DANGEN Entertainment–the company responsible for localising the game–to see if they could answer some burning questions we had.

For those who haven’t been keeping up–and possibly quite confused–Vestaria Saga is an indie game that’s believed to be created by one of the founders of the Fire Emblem series. But that’s all we can say on the matter, since he wishes to distance himself away from any potential drama.

Although we–Serenes Forest–are primarily a Fire Emblem fan site, we also like to cover all the spin-off games and related games, which Vestaria falls under.

With that out of the way, onto the interview itself!

Vestaria Saga English Trailer + Demo Coming Soon

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have new, concrete details about the official English version of the first Vestaria Saga game!

For the uninitiated, Vestaria Saga is an indie Strategy RPG developed by S_Kaga and Vestaria Project, created using SRPG Studio. Despite its humble appearances, it’s an incredibly well-crafted game, with devious puzzle-like gameplay and a rich story.

Originally, the game was released in September 2016 and, surprisingly, an English translation was teased in August 2017, nearly a year ago. Now we know that Dangen Entertainment is behind the English translation and it’ll be 2019 before it releases.

However to ease the wait slightly, a one-stage demo is planned to be released in the coming days. If you’re interested, check out the game’s Steam page, where you can download the demo once it becomes available.

Also, we’re currently looking to ask Dangen Entertainment some questions about the translation and acquisition of Vestaria Saga. If you have any burning questions you’d like to ask them, feel free to post in the comments!
