Notes:
There are only two things that affect rankings:
- The total number of Turns taken to complete the game
- The survival of playable characters (maximum number of characters is 47)
Nothing else matters, such as amount of Gold or enemies defeated. For those worrying about their sanity, opting to play in Elite Mode has no direct effect on rankings either, and this makes rankings easier to obtain.

Additionally, the type and amount of CG artwork seen in the Epilogue depends on which rank you obtained for that game:
- E or above: Family (Cuan, Ethlin, Altenna and Leaf)
- D or above: Dragon Knights (Altenna or Noba)
- C or above [NP version]: Long Ago (Cuan, Fin, Glade and Selphina)
- B or above [NP version], C or above [ROM version]: Unnamed (Altenna and Areone)
- A or above [NP version], B or above [ROM version]: Lovers (Cuan and Ethlin)
