Chapter 20: The Child of Light

On the World Map

Six long months passed…

Suffering from the ferocious attacks of the Freeji army led by Barat, the Liberation Army was gradually driven into a corner of the castle.

It seemed like it was only a matter of time before Lenster fell again…

Opening Cutscene

Rinehart:
“Lord Barat, how are we holding out?”

Barat:
“Ah, I was waiting for you, Rinhart. Have you brought the reinforcements that I asked for?”

Rinehart:
“The reserver forces from Alster are coming to our aid. They should be arriving soon.”

Barat:
“Good, now we will have enough manpower. We have already taken over most of the castle. This small section is all that remains. It won’t be long now.”

Rinehart:
“I hope so…”

Barat:
“What do you mean? Is there a problem?”

Rinehart:
“…It has already been half a year since we started attacking Lenster. King Blume is not pleased to see that we haven’t taken down the castle yet. I know it isn’t in my place to speak like this, but I would suggest you made haste.”

Barat:
“…I know.”

Rinehart:
“The king’s mood is getting worse by the day. Losing Prince Ishto at Castle Melgen must have been painful…”

Barat:
“How far has the Isaac Army come?”

Rinehart:
“They have already reached the Thracian peninsula. Coen’s Twelfth Legion is defending against them along with the Vampa sisters and Lady Tinny’s mage army. However, even Lady Liza fell before the Isaac Army… It will be a tough battle.”

Barat:
“What is the king doing?”

Rinehart:
“He is leading the remaining troops in Alster. If the Isaac Army reaches Alster, he will probably send for you. And if Lenster hasn’t fallen by then…”

Barat:
“Erg… I know that!”

Rinehart:
“I must return to Conort. I wish you luck, Lord Barat.”

(Rinehart leaves)

Barat:
“Someone!”

Soldier:
“Yes, sir.”

Barat:
“Tell the troops to charge! Offense is everything now!
Retreat is not an option. Annihilate the enemy with all of your strength!”

Soldier:
“Yes, sir!”

(Scene switches to Leaf)

August:
“The enemy’s full-scale assault has begun, Lord Leaf…”

Leaf:
“Can we hold out, August?”

August:
“All those that can move are stationed on defense. We will have no place to run if this area falls.”

Leaf:
“I’m surprised we lasted this long against the Empire’s legions. It’s been half a year already…this may be it.”

August:
“You mustn’t talk like that, Lord Leaf. You would be betraying those who fought with their lives to defend the castle if you give up. Lord Celice’s army is progressing with ease because we are keeping the Empire’s main forces occupied. We mustn’t give up until we group with Lord Celice.”

Leaf:
“I’m sorry, August. I know. I want to meet Lord Celice, too. But I just can’t bear watching our soldiers die one after another…”

August:
“If you truly think so, then we must fight to the last man standing, to ensure that their deaths have not been in vain!”

Fighting Barat

Barat:
“You won’t stand in my way!”

Defeating Barat

Barat:
“Guh… Is this…the end…?”

If the throne is captured by the enemy

August:
“Prince Leaf, the throne has fallen into the hands of the Freejis! Our troops are fleeing! We are done for now…”

After beating the map

(Defeat Barat after the 15th turn)

August:
“Lord Leaf, the enemy is retreating!”

Leaf:
“What!? What happened?”

August:
“Lord Celice’s army has arrived! They have surrounded Alster and are attacking as we speak. We have been saved!”

Leaf:
“I see… Lord Celice… But how do you know that, August?”

August:
“Ah, forgive me. A messenger has come from Lord Celice. He is waiting in the guest room.”

Leaf:
“From Lord Celice? I need to see him. Let him pass!”

Delmud:
“Greetings, Prince Leaf. I am Delmud, one of Lord Celice’s troops.”

Leaf:
“Delmud!? Then are you Nanna’s brother?”

Delmud:
“Yes.”

(If Nanna is dead/captured)

Delmud:
“I was hoping to see Nanna, but…”

Leaf:
“I’m sorry. If only I were stronger…”

Delmud:
“No, it isn’t your fault. I think… I think Nanna was happy to be at your side.”

Leaf:
“Delmud…”

Delmud:
“Lord Leaf, here is a letter from Lord Celice. Please read through it…”

Leaf:
“Hmm… He says it shouldn’t take too long to take down Alster…”

Delmud:
“Yes. No more than a few days…”

Leaf:
“Then let’s head for Alster. I want to see Lord Celice!”

Delmud:
“Of course, Lord Leaf. I shall escort you.”

(If Nanna is alive)

Leaf:
“Delmud, your message is done now, right?”

Delmud:
“Yes.”

Leaf:
“Then go see Nanna…”

Nanna:
“Delmud… My brother…”

Delmud:
“Nanna!? Nanna!”

Nanna:
“Yes…”

Delmud:
“Nanna… I’m sorry. If only I had known earlier, I would have come for you no matter what. But I didn’t know until I heard about you from Lord Levin…”

Nanna:
“Lord Levin…?”

Delmud:
“That’s right. He’s Lord Celice’s tactician, and he knows everything. He told me about our mother, Lachesis…how she came for me in Isaac but went missing in the deserts of Yied…”

Nanna:
“! Then… Mother, she…”

Delmud:
“I’m sorry, Nanna… She was protecting me…”

Nanna:
“No… I was mad at you when I was younger, but I understand now. As a woman, I understand how mother felt…”

Delmud:
“I haven’t given up, Nanna. Lord Levin said that our mother is still alive. We can go look for her together once this war is over. So don’t cry… Prince Leaf, I have something to ask of you. Will you include me in your ranks? I have Lord Celice’s approval.”

Leaf:
“Yes, I would ask you to join for Nanna. I’ll talk to Lord Celice as well.”
