Chapter 3: The Gate of Kelves

On the World Map

After ridding Ith of the pirates, Leaf continued on towards Manster. He soon came across a small fort called the Gate of Kelves…

Opening Cutscene

Reidric:
“Lobos, how is the child hunting coming along?”

Lobos:
“Ah, Lord Reidric. We have gathered all of the children in this area. I’ve locked them in the dungeon for now, but what do you wish to do with them?”

Reidric:
“Good. Keep them there until the Lopto Church comes to pick them up. Make sure to be on your guard, because the Magi group might come to claim them as well.”

Lobos:
“Magi group? Oh, the rebels from Manster… They were still operating?”

Reidric:
“I thought I had killed them off, but they seem to have recovered somehow. Apparently they have a new leader. Irritating little pests.”

Lobos:
“Indeed. Are you going back to Manster, my lord?”

Reidric:
“No, I think I will stay here for a little bit…I’m tired from the long journey. I should be able to rest without worry in this impregnable fort. I’ll leave the rest up to you, Lobos.”

Lobos:
“Yes, my lord.”

(Scene switches to Leaf)

August:
“That is the Gate of Kelves, the entrance to Manster, Lord Leaf. It is small for a fort, but it is a place more frightening than hell for the people living around here.”

Leaf:
“Why is that?”

August:
“It is now the headquarters for the child hunting…”

Leaf:
“Child hunting?”

August:
“All children between the ages of 7 to 13 are kidnapped and sent to the Imperial capital of Barbara. Once there, they are reborn as followers of the dark god Lopto.”

Leaf:
“What? No…”

August:
“It’s the truth. Many children are being captured and locked up Fort Kelves as we speak.”

Leaf:
“Such…inhuman behavior…! August, I’m going to rescue the children. I’m sorry, but we’ll have to separate here.”

August:
“Yes… Then let me give one last bit of advice. You won’t be able to enter the fort on horseback, so dismount your horses before going in. Also, the children can’t move, so carry them back to their homes. The villagers will be very grateful to you if you do. Good luck, Prince Leaf.”

Leaf:
“!? …August, you knew that I was the prince?”

August:
“Of course. I wish to help you rise back to power, Prince Leaf. Farewell for now…let us meet again in Manster.”

Fighting Lobos

Lobos:
“Wh-Who are you people? Do you think you can get away with this!?”

Defeating Lobos

Lobos:
“Guh… Don’t think…it’s over…yet…”

Releasing Lobos

Lobos:
“Y-You’ll regret this…! Lord Reidric will surely hear of this matter!”

After beating the map

Leaf:
“Phew… We somehow managed to capture the fort.”

Reidric:
“Well, boy… I would like to say good job, but it looks like your luck has run out. Put down your weapons if you want this girl to live!”

Leaf:
“Nanna!? Reidric, you…!”

Nanna:
“Leaf, don’t worry about me! Just run!”

Leaf:
“Damn… …All right… I’ll drop my weapons. So don’t hurt her!”

Reidric:
“Hahaha… It’s nice to see obedience. All right,
capture Prince Leaf! Don’t forget his friends, either!”

(The following members each say a line if they’re alive)

Eyvel:
“What… Lord Leaf has been captured? …All right, then I will go with him. I want you people to escape for now and rescue the prince later. Understood?”

Finn:
“Eyvel said that? All right, we’ll have to retreat for now. Lord Leaf, I promise I will go rescue you!”

Halvan:
“Damn, is this it…?”

Othin:
“Damn… Leaf! We’ll go rescue you. You better not die until then!”

Saphy:
“Dear God, please protect the prince…”

Dagda:
“What, the prince was captured? Damn… Guys! Let’s pull back to Purple Dragon Mountain. Guess we’ll have to gather all the boys and attack Manster by force.”
