The Fire Emblem

Frey:

Today's lecture is about Archanea's most valued treasure, the "Fire Emblem."

Chris:

The "Fire Emblem"... I hear Prince Marth fought the last war with it in hand.

Frey:

That's right. In the previous War of Shadows, the abominable shadow dragon, Medeus, invaded Archanea. Archanea was crushed by Medeus's troops, and House Archanea was wiped out, save for Princess Nyna. And it was Princess Nyna who entrusted Prince Marth with the proof of Archanean royalty:
the "Fire Emblem."

Nyna:

Then let me give you this. This crest is called the Fire Emblem. House Archanea bestows it only upon a true champion, one we believe has the power to save the world.

Frey:

Therefore, our connection with Archanea runs very deep. Don't forget that.

New platoon member

Katarina:

Oh, Chris! I'm going out for a bit.

Chris:

Katarina? Why are you in such a rush?

Katarina:

I've found someone in another platoon who could join us. I'm off to talk to her. She's called Cecille. I can vouch for her ability. All of her comrades have deserted, and it seems she's in a pickle, now that she's all alone.

Chris:

Right, I see.

(If Avatar is male)
In that case, it would be great if she could join us.
(If Avatar is female)
In that case, I'd be happy if she joined us.

Sir Jagen did say our battles are going to become fiercer from now on. We need manpower--every soldier counts.

Katarina:

Yes, I'll do my best. Also, I'm hoping to bring along some powerful weapons as well.

Chris:

Weapons? Can you get them?

Katarina:

Err, the truth is... I have some secret connections. I can't get them ready right now, but I'll do my best so they'll be available for your next battle, Chris.

Chris:

I don't really get it, but... You're not getting involved with anything dangerous, are you? You needn't go so far.

Katarina:

It's alright. Please leave it to me. I want to help you, Chris, any little that I can. Well, I'll be off now.

Avatar

Chris:

Chris, reporting. Sir Jagen, did you call for me?

Jagen:

Relax, it's nothing serious. You said your name is Chris. Where did you learn how to fight?

Chris:

...I was originally

(Noble’s child)
a noble, but I left the castle due to family circumstances...

(Orphan)
an orphan; I was picked up when still a baby.

(Country child)
from the country.

(Bishop’s child)
a bishop's son/daughter, but then my parents died...

(Peddler’s child)
a peddler's son/daughter, but later my parents divorced...

Since I was young, I've been living in a small village named Sera, together with my grandfather. He was the one who trained me. Grandfather was very strict, and worked me to the bone, every day. Many times, I thought I was going to die...

Jagen:

What's your grandfather's name?

Chris:

His name was Maclir. I heard he was once a knight of Altea.

Jagen:

Maclir? I see. You must mean Sir Maclir...

Chris:

Were you acquainted with my grandfather?

Jagen:

Yes. Chris, your grandfather was an old friend of mine. He left the front lines due to injury, but his loyalty to House Altea was unmatched. I see. So Sir Maclir trained you hard and well so you could become a knight of Altea.

Chris:

"Chris, become Altea's sword. Acquire unbreakable power and loyalty." That's what my grandfather used to say when he was still alive. I grew up with his wish in mind.

Jagen:

I see. I understand your strength now. You are amazingly capable. The lads who will themselves to battle these days don't have that much power. Clearly, that's the result of hard training from an early age. Chris, I ask of you too. Never stop tempering your skills. Your power is sure to be of use to Prince Marth.

Kingdom of Archanea

Frey:

Continuing from the previous lecture, today's lecture is about the Kingdom of Archanea. Today is an exceptional day, for Prince Marth will speak to you. If you would, sire.

Marth:

Archanea, was it? The Kingdom of Archanea is technically Altea's suzerain nation. Princess Nyna is the last of their royal line, and there was debate as to decide who would rule Archanea, but I hear Hardin was crowned Emperor of Archanea soon after.

Katarina:

... What kind of person is Emperor Hardin?

Marth:

He's a wonderful person. In the previous war, Hardin was a precious ally of ours. As King Aurelis's younger brother, he fought to protect Princess Nyna, who had escaped to the Lea of Aurelis.

Hardin:

Tsk, Princess Nyna would not be pleased to hear us nitpicking over who will be listed in the history books. Take command, so we can oust this Macedonian scum and be done with it. Marth:

Lord Hardin, thank you. That is an honor. If you don't mind me saying so... I feel as though I've made a good friend. We share the same ideals, I think.

Marth:

Hardin is well qualified to be emperor. If he puts Archanea into order, I'm sure everything will go well.

Katarina:

...

Cecille

Cecille:

Let me introduce myself again. I am Cecille, junior knight of the former 9th Platoon. I'd like to make it clear that I'll show no mercy for those who underestimate me because I'm a woman!

Luke:

Sigh. I wish our female knight was a sexy, big sister type... When we finally get another girl... Why is it Cecille--the 9th platoon's infamous violent girl--of all people?

Cecille:

You little... Who's the violent girl!? Take this! And this!

Luke:

Yikes, w-wait! Please don't hit me! B-be gentle...

Chris:

Sorry. I apologize for Luke's rudeness. (If Avatar is female) He can be such a troublesome guy...

Cecille:

(If Avatar is male)
Good grief. If you say so, Commander Chris. I'm your subordinate from now on, anyway.
(If Avatar is female)
Commander Chris, I think you and I are going to get along very well.

Since I've joined this platoon, I'll fight under you. My life is in your hands.

Katarina

Katarina:

... ...

Chris:

Katarina, what are you doing here?

Katarina:

Oh, Chris...!

Chris:

I was looking for you. Let's go, it's almost time for the final test... Huh?! Katarina, are you crying?

Katarina:

Oh... err... this is... It's nothing...

Chris:

What happened?

(If Avatar is male)
Please tell me.
(If Avatar is female)
You can tell me.

Did anyone do anything to you? We're friends. I won't let someone who made you cry get away with it.

Katarina:

Chris... No, that wasn't it. I'm... just sad... I'll tell you the reason later... So, let's hurry to the test. I'm alright now.

Chris:

Are you really alright?

Katarina:

Yes... Your feelings alone are enough for me. Thank you, Chris...

Marth

Marth:

Hello, Chris. It's rare for us to meet at a place like this.

Chris:

Yes, it is, sire. Are you going somewhere?

Marth:

Yes. Beyond here... are the graves where sleep the soldiers who fell during the previous war.

Chris:

I see...

Marth:

My father among them... Many Alteans sacrificed their lives in the previous war. I couldn't save them... That's something I must never forget.

Chris:

Sire...

(If Avatar is male)
Ever since I decided that being a knight
(If Avatar is female)
From the day I decided that being a knight

was my goal, I was prepared to die fighting. Those who fought in the previous war... Weren't they, too, prepared to give their lives for the kingdom? It's painful, I know, but it isn't something you must brood over alone, sire...

Marth:

... Thank you. I'm happy to hear that. But I... still feel pain. When my comrades get hurt and fall, I can't help but to feel pain... Even if I'm deluding myself... I don't want to let even a single one of my comrades die.

Chris:

Sire...

Marth:

...Jagen often tells me that, too. "He who leads people must see the big picture." If one sacrifices few to save many, that was the correct decision to take. I understand that, too. But... I don't want that. Having to sacrifice someone... Maybe I'm unfit to be king... Perhaps it's a naive way to think... But, that's how I really feel. And I can't betray my feelings.

Chris:

Sire...

Marth:

Ah, sorry... I must have confused you by suddenly talking about all this.

Chris:

... No, I understand. I do understand your feelings, sire...

Marth:

Chris...?

Chris:

I don't want any of my comrades to fall, I want everyone to be alright... I think that, too. Sire... I want to help you accomplish that.

Marth:

Chris... Thank you, Chris.

The enemy

Cecille:

H-hey! What the hell is this? Why is Katarina...!?

Chris:

I don't know, either. But when I think about it... there were some signs. Although I never imagined it would come to this...

Ryan:

Err, Chris... What are we going to do? Are we... going to fight Katarina?

Chris:

... We are knights. Protecting Prince Marth is our foremost duty.

The 7th platoon

Marth:

...Chris, it would seem we've fallen into the enemy's trap. It's too dangerous to fight them head-on like this. Besides, this is your knighthood ceremony... I don't want to lose promising people in a place like this. Please leave everything to me. I'll find a way of escaping alone. You don't need to...

Chris:

Speak no further, sire. I shall fight alongside you.

Marth:

But...

Chris:

Sire, you told me before that you don't want to let your comrades die.

(If Avatar is male)
I'm the same.
(If Avatar is female)
I feel the same way.

Just like you, sire, wish to protect us... I, too, wish to protect you. That's what I believe. Chris Marth:

...

Luke:

Hold it, Chris! I won't let you hog the spotlight all for yourself!

Chris:

Luke...

RODY:

I agree with Luke. We are knights; protecting our liege is our duty.

Ryan:

Yes, I... want to... protect Prince Marth too.

Cecille:

That's right. We are the 7th Platoon! We've defeated all our enemies so far. We can do it!

Chris:

Everyone...

Chris:

Alright. Then, are you all ready?

Luke:

No kidding!

Chris:

The 7th Platoon shall battle together with our prince! And we shall prevail!

Kingdom of Grust

Marth:

Chris, this is the first time you've been outside of Altea, isn't it?

Chris:

Yes. Sire, did you come to Grust in the previous war?

Marth:

Indeed. In the War of Shadows, Grust was our enemy. However, the general and the people were not to blame. There were many admirable people that I did not want to fight. General Lorenz comes to mind... Fortunately, in the previous war, he fought as our ally.

Lorenz:

So, I will stand by you instead, Prince-- and hope the future is a bit easier to spot from there. Lorenz:

Marth:

Thanks to the war, Grust was devastated and it now follows the Kingdom of Archanea's rule, but, by Archanea's grace, General Lorenz was allowed to govern it. He's an excellent leader who thinks of his people. It's because of him that the people of Grust can live in peace.

Chris:

I understand. But then, I wonder why did a rebellion occur?

Marth:

That, I don't know. Just what is going on in this country?

Expeditionary forces

Jagen:

Chris , how are the new knights?

Chris:

Sir! Everyone is brimming with energy.

Jagen:

Good to hear. About our expeditionary forces... I am already old, and would be of no use in the front lines. Our main force will consist of you rookies, Gordin, Draug and the Paladin Arran. The strongest among us is Sir Arran. Let me introduce you.

Arran:

Royal Guard Chris, this is the first time we talk face-to-face. I am Arran.

Chris:

Chris, sir. It is an honor to fight alongside you, sir.

Jagen:

Sir Arran, as far as our reports go, our enemies are bandits. They are no match for a Paladin like you.

Arran:

Of course. However, Sir Jagen, if possible, please give a chance to Chris and the other new knights. I can't become much stronger than I already am. However, they're young and have potential. As Chris and the others experience actual battles, they should eventually grow enough to surpass me.

Chris:

Ah! Sir Arran...

Arran:

Chris, gain strength in the battlefield, and surpass me as soon as possible. The one who will support the future of Altea isn't me:
it is you.

Chris:

(If Avatar is male)
Yes sir! I'll bear in mind the importance of being a knight of Altea.
(If Avatar is female)
Sir... I shall engrave the importance of being an Altean knight upon my soul.

Kingdom of Macedon

Marth:

Macedon... To think that I'd have to fight here again.

Chris:

Sire, are you perchance acquainted with Princess Minerva, who's in the enemy's hands?

Marth:

Yes. Princess Minerva fought in the previous war as our ally. She even took it upon herself to fight her own brother, Prince Michalis. All for the peace of Macedon.

Michalis:

Minerva, I have missed you, Sister. Let us embrace one last time! Minerva:

Michalis...

Marth:

The princess had the three knight sisters, Palla, Catria and Est, as subordinates. Each of them is strong on their own, but together their power is unmatched.

Palla:

With me, sisters! Triangle Attack!!

Catria:

We have you now! Triangle Attack!!

Est:

It's just you and me... And my sisters! Triangle Attack!! 0

Chris:

(If Avatar is male)
I see.
(If Avatar is female)
Is that so.

Sounds like they'll be good to have around.

Marth:

Yes. However, Est, the youngest of the three, has retired from knighthood and is living happily in Altea. Catria and Palla should still be here in Macedon. I hope they're safe...

Julian and Lena

Chris:

Sire, according to the intel from our scouts, this will be the next battlefield.

Marth:

That's a lot of villages. We have to fight to prevent the villagers from being harmed by rogues. That reminds me, I believe Julian and Lena lived around here.

Chris:

Hmm? Julian and Lena... Allies from the previous war?

Marth:

Yes. I should tell you about them, Chris. Julian and Lena are now working in a convent, taking care of orphans. I wonder if they tied the knot yet. Julian is an ex-thief, and Lena is a very kind cleric. Julian risked his life to rescue Lena, who had been captured by bandits. That was when I met them.

Lena:

Julian, you go ahead. Save yourself!

Julian:

Uh-uh, honey. No can do. I didn't betray my boys back there so you could zap me on out of here alone.

Marth:

Oh right, Lena also has an older brother called Matthis. He's apparently in the Macedonian army.

Chris:

By Macedonian army, do you mean that Matthis might be among our enemies?

Marth:

Yes. I'd rather not fight him if I could. If we had Julian or Lena with us, we could perhaps persuade him...

Sirius

Chris:

Sir Jagen. I have returned with the scouts. These are the details.

Jagen:

Hmm. We have to rescue Sir Ogma's group as soon as possible... What's this? Who is the Paladin right beside Sir Ogma?

Chris:

The details are unclear. The scouts say he's a masked man of unknown identity.

Jagen:

Hm... But if he's a Paladin, I doubt he's conspiring with those bandits. Depending on how we talk to him, he might even become our ally.

Rickard

Julian:

Hey, Chris. There's something botherin' me. If I'm not mistaken, my pal lives around here.

Chris:

Your pal?

Julian:

Yeah, a thief called Rickard. I've washed my hands of thievery, but I hear Rickard continues his thievin' ways. If you see him, leave him to me. I'll persuade him to quit that shady business.

Barst

Ogma:

...

Chris:

Sir Ogma, is something troubling you?

Ogma:

Yes, I am indeed troubled. About a former subordinate of mine... A man named Barst.

Chris:

Sir Barst... was it? When you say subordinate, you mean from Talys?

Ogma:

Yes, he used to be a mercenary fighting for King Talys and Princess Caeda, just like me. After the previous war was over, it seems he had an idea and left for Archanea.

Chris:

Then he's with the enemy?

Ogma:

No, it seems he did join the Archanean army, but left it because he tired of fighting. If you happen to meet Barst... I'll talk to him. Leave it to me.

Navarre

Caeda:

Chris, may I have your opinion on something? I'm worried...

Chris:

About Prince Marth? Or about our next battle?

Caeda:

Both of them. This is just a rumor, but... It seems Lang has hired the swordsman Navarre.

Chris:

Navarre... I've heard that name before. He's a remarkable swordsman, right?

Caeda:

Yes. But Navarre was our ally in the last war, so I'm sure he'll understand if I talk to him.

Caeda:

Or, if you will not, then turn it on me now instead...

Navarre:

...Nay, I'll turn no blade of mine on a woman.

Chris:

S-so that's how you persuaded him...?

Caeda:

Hmm? Yes, why? Chris, if you happen to meet Navarre, let me talk to him... please.

Free company

Marth:

Chris, about the free company defending Chiasmir bridge northwest...

Chris:

Yes, sire?

Marth:

I'd like you to leave them alone. Their leader is Astram, hero of Archanea. He wields the sword Mercurius, one of the three regalia, and is one of the strongest men in the continent.

Chris:

(If Avatar is male)
I see... He sounds like a truly powerful opponent.
(If Avatar is female)
A powerful opponent, I see.

Marth:

That isn't the only reason why I don't wish to fight him. In the previous war, Astram was our ally. He's a very serious and loyal person--his devotion to Princess Nyna unmatched.

Astram:

...Forgive my lack of courtesy, but you and I need to be clear on a certain point. While I have decided to lend you my sword, my allegiance lies with Princess Nyna- not you, my lord. I will follow your orders, but should I learn you have been false to her, or that you are manipulating her... Heads will roll.

Marth:

I do not think we can persuade him. At least, not now... I'd rather not fight him unless necessary. Chris, I'd like you to avoid battle with him as well, if possible.

Chris:

Yes, understood. However, should your life be in danger, sire...

(If Avatar is male)
I will fight. No matter how powerful that opponent might be.
(If Avatar is female)
I'll do anything to protect you.

Jeorge

Marth:
Chris, in the next battle... The one guarding the castle should be General Jeorge. General Jeorge is Gordin's tutor and friend and has visited Altea on many occasions. I'd like to speak with him. Chris, I'm counting on your assistance.

Roger

Caeda:

In the previous war, there was a man named Roger among our allies. He was a very nice man and listened to me even though we fought on opposing sides when we first met.

Caeda:

Tell me:
do you believe in love? Oh, listen to me. I'm sure you already have a sweetheart back in Grust.

Chris:

D-did you really say that to him...?

Caeda:

Chris, should we meet Roger again, I'll try and/to talk to him.

Khadein

Linde:

Khadein, the realm of magic... To think I'd come here like this.

Chris:

Are you familiar with Khadein, Linde? If there's anything we should pay attention to during battle, I'd like you to tell me.

Linde:

Oh yes... As you can see, Khadein is a desert. Most people get their feet caught up in the sand and have a hard time moving. But as mages dress lightly, they can move around like normal in the desert. Of course that goes for enemy mages too, so do be careful.

Chris:

Got it... That was useful. Thank you, Linde.

Elrean

Wendell:

Sir/Dame Chris, Merric told much me about you. How, before becoming a knight, you spent your days training in Altea Castle.

Chris:

Yes. I still remember the days when I fought together with my fellow knights-in-training.

Wendell:

I see, with your companions... That's wonderful. Are all of your companions now Altean knights?

Chris:

... No. One of them became our enemy. But I... don't want to fight her, if possible. That's how I feel.

Wendell:

Indeed... There's nothing sadder than fighting your former comrades. I have no love for conflict. Especially between comrades who were supposed to learn and grow together... Sir/Dame Chris, I too wish to stop the fighting between my disciples... That's how I feel.

Chris:

Disciples... Do you mean Sir Merric?

Wendell:

Once upon a time, I had two brilliant young disciples. One was Merric, the other was Elrean. However, for some reason, Elrean grew to despise Merric, and the two are now fighting in Khadein. Sir/Dame Chris, I must go to Elrean and bring an end to this battle.

Merric

Chris:

Sir Merric, are you familiar with Anri's Way?

Merric:

I don't know it in detail, but it seems to be a land ruled by mighty dragons and barbarians. I've heard that among them, the wyverns are particularly dangerous.

Chris:

Wyverns... Do they have any weakness?

Merric:

Yes. Wyverns are weak to wind magic, like Excalibur, as well as arrows. Myself included, it would be a wise choice to prepare a number of people with those.

Chris:

I see... You have my thanks, Sir Merric.

Jake

Caeda:

Chris, listen to me. When I was scouting out in the desert... I saw someone who might have been an ally from the previous war. I can't be certain because I saw him from afar, but I think it was Jake.

Chris:

Jake?

Caeda:

Yes. Jake used to be a Grustian ballistician, and had a girlfriend named Anna. They were really close, and Jake did his best for Anna's sake.

Jake:

She would? Hmmm... All right, you win. But I'm doin' it for Anna- just to be clear!

Caeda:

Chris, I'll try and talk to Jake. Perhaps he would fight alongside us again.

The Anri Saga

Jagen:

Chris, this is the inhospitable region known as Anri's Way. You must take great caution. If you fall, so does our army. So, for Prince Marth's sake as well, you must survive.

Chris:

Yes sir. I understand. By the way, Sir Jagen, why exactly is it called Anri's Way?

Jagen:

Oh yes. It's a long story, but I'll tell you the legend of Anri. A century ago... The Holy Kingdom of Archanea, governor of this continent, was ravaged by the dragonkin. The people back then lived days of misery, as the dragons' slaves. House Archanea, the people's only hope, was eradicated, and the world descended into despair.

Chris:

...

Jagen:

But, at the time, there were rumors of an Archanean princess hiding out in Altea, which back then was no more than a provincial town among many. The furious Dolhrian Empire sent troops to Altea, demanding the princess's extradition.

Chris:

(If Avatar is male)
Such violence...
(If Avatar is female)
Oh heavens above...

Jagen:

That princess--Artemis--planned to sacrifice her own life in order to save the citizens. However, the people of Altea protected her, and vowed to fight, knowing they would be massacred. ...Well, let's stop there for today. We still have a long road ahead of us...

Anri's Way

Jagen:

Thanks to the heroic people of Altea who stood up to protect the princess, the people of Archanea came to know she was alive, and resumed their battle against Dolhr. Their liberation army was led by Duke Cartas, who fought with the royal shield given to him by Artemis, and thanks to their efforts, the tides of battle turned to their favor. However, the king of the earth dragons, Medeus, finally decided to make his move.

Chris:

Medeus...!

Jagen:

Before his overwhelming might, it seemed like Altea's resistance wouldn't last any longer. But then, a sage appeared before them. He spoke of a divine sword enshrined in the ice shrine in the distant north. With that blade, it would be possible to fell Medeus, but the way to obtain it would be by no means easy... And that would be Anri's Way. The way we're going through right now...

Artemis's Curse

Jagen:

Chris, the Ice Dragon Shrine stands before our eyes. For his beloved Artemis, Anri--Altea's forefather--obtained the divine sword Falchion here. He then proceeded to defeat Medeus and, acclaimed by the people of Altea, become their first king. However... though Anri and Artemis loved each other, they could not marry...

Chris:

Why?

Jagen:

The nobles of Archanea didn't want Anri, a commoner, to become their king. More than that, they strongly encouraged the princess to wed Duke Cartas, who led the liberation army. Princess Artemis had no way of refusing. "The bearer of the Fire Emblem must give their life to the royal family." That is a saying passed down unchangingly in House Archanea. And so, without telling a word to Anri, the princess accepted her engagement to Duke Cartas.

Chris:

No way... Then, King Anri...

Jagen:

The princess was just as worthy of pity. It's said she died soon after giving birth to her newborn prince. King Anri never married. So, the kingdom of Altea was then succeeded by his younger brother, King Marcelus--Prince Marth's great-grandfather.

Chris:

What a tragedy...

Jagen:

That was Artemis's Curse. The sorrowful curse associated with the Fire Emblem...

Abel

Marth:

What in the blazes? Abel is among our enemies...?

Jagen:

Indeed, sire... Sadly, that's the inescapable truth.

Chris:

Sire, Sir Jagen, what's going on?

Marth:

Chris. I should tell you about Abel, too. Before your arrival, Abel was a knight of Altea and Cain's trusted partner. Afterwards, he retired to live together with Est in Altea, but now...

Jagen:

As you know, our enemy is the Archanean army that has occupied Altea... And Abel is among their ranks.

Chris:

What? In other words, he's now our enemy?

Jagen:

It would seem so. But who'd have guessed... It's simply unfathomable.

Chris:

Sir Jagen. I am not acquaintanced with Sir Abel, but... I don't think someone who used to be a knight in Prince Marth's service would betray Altea without reason. There must be something going on.

Jagen:

Yes, indeed... Otherwise, there is no way Abel would betray the prince.

Marth:

I think the same. Jagen, Chris, I'll try to talk to him. If I go, I'm sure Abel will tell me his reasons.

Astram

Jeorge:

Chris, it seems Astram is among the enemies inside the castle.

Chris:

Are you familiar with Sir Astram, Sir Jeorge?

Jeorge:

Yes, I've known him for a long time. He's not a bad fellow, but... It seems blood rushed to his head when he heard Altea had betrayed Archanea. Charged with pursuing us, he has pursued us relentlessly until now. There was no way he'd listen to us then. However, now that he's charged with castle defense duty, he might listen. I'll try and persuade him.

Chris:

However, wouldn't that be dangerous?

Jeorge:

I've known him for a long time, so I know his personality well. Leave this to me.

Gra's troops

Chris:

Sire, I have a report. Our enemy is a mixed army of soldiers from Archanea and Gra... But it seems Gra's soldiers have no will to fight, and are simply being coerced by Archanea's men.

Marth:

Then, if we defeat the Archanean soldiers, we might not need to battle those from Gra... I want to avoid pointless sacrifices as much as possible. Chris, convey that to everyone.

Chris:

(If Avatar is male)
Understood, sire.
(If Avatar is female)
Yes, understood.

The Wolfguard

Jagen:

Besides the Archanean army, Emperor Hardin has one other strong set of troops under his command. They're the Aurelian Knights... A powerful army nicknamed the Wolfguard.

Chris:

The Wolfguard...

Jagen:

Yes. In the previous war... the Wolfguard fought as Hardin's subordinates. They were reliable allies back then, but since Hardin is now our enemy, so is the Wolfguard. They have sworn loyalty to Hardin, and would die for him. Chris, their loyalty is comparable to yours.

Chris:

...!

Jagen:

Take good care once they arrive on the battlefield, Chris.

Wolfguard remnants

Jagen:

Chris, we've gotten a new report about the Wolfguard, whose forces withdrew yesterday. It seems some of them have merged with the Archanean army. The Wolfguard's commander, Wolf... is confirmed to be among them.

Chris:

Then, we'll have to fight them again...?

Jagen:

Yes. It'd be ideal if we could persuade them. But... if we don't know how, we may have no choice but to fight. They're strong. Chris, be very careful.

Lightsphere

Jagen:

Chris, I must remind you of a crucial fact. Only with the Lightsphere can we hope to prevail against Hardin. So you must be absolutely sure that whoever challenges him carries the Lightsphere.

Chris:

Understood, Sir Jagen.

Mystery dracoknight

Jagen:

Sire, I bring news. According to an inhabitant of a nearby village... A young dracoknight, badly wounded and on the verge of death, has taken refuge there...

Marth:

A dracoknight? I wonder who it is?

Jagen:

I don't know who. But... the knight reportedly suffered a deep wound that would've killed any ordinary man... And, as if talking in delirium, was apparently calling your name, sire...

Marth:

Make route for the village at once! I want to ascertain the knight's identity. I must meet with them...

The Dragon's Altar

Marth:

So this is the Dragon's Altar...

Chris:

An ominous place for sure. I can hear the roars of dragons coming from somewhere...

Marth:

Yes, it's dangerous to stay here for too long. Once we're ready, let's go deeper at once.

Gharnef

Chris:

Sir Jagen, in the innermost room, he-- the Dark Pontifex Gharnef is waiting!

Jagen:

Chris, listen well. Gharnef cannot be damaged by regular weapons. The Imhullu tome he possesses has the power to block our attacks. Only the Starlight tome can pierce Gharnef's shadowy veil. If we don't have Starlight, then we'll have no choice but to try and seize the throne without fighting Gharnef...

Maria

Minerva:

Sir/Dame Chris, I have a little sister named Maria. She was kidnapped by Gharnef, and now... It seems she's by Medeus's side. I want to save her. I want to talk to her...

Chris:

However, according to the Dark Pontifex, they have become living offerings and their hearts have been lost...

Minerva:

Even so, I must talk to her. Even if I discover nothing I can do can bring her back... Even if I have to put an end to her misery... I will save her.

Chris:

Princess/Princess Minerva... Very well. If you're willing to go that far, I will not attempt to stop you. I, too, shall support you so that you'll be able to speak to Princess Maria.

Nyna

Sirius:

Sir/Dame Chris, I have a request for you.

Chris:

Sir Sirius, what is it?

Sirius:

According to Gharnef... Princess Nyna, who had been kidnapped, is now a living offering to Medeus. And now she'll never return to normal... However, I want to talk to her. I wonder if you could arrange things so Prince Marth would allow me to take part in the next battle?

Chris:

However, why Princess Nyna? Are you familiar with the princess, Sir Sirius?

Sirius:

...No. I just want to save her. As the princess of a mighty kingdom, she had to endure much sorrow all this time... But, this end would be just too miserable. I cannot make her happy. But, at least, I want to save her...

Elice

Merric:

Chris, I have a request. Please lend me your strength in the next battle. I want to save Princess Elice.

Chris:

Princess Elice... Prince Marth's elder sister, correct?

Merric:

Yes. Elice is very precious to me. I heard Elice's heart has been shattered, and she now stands with Medeus... But, I haven't given up. I want to talk to her. If both of us take part in the next battle... I'd like you to help me create a chance to talk to Elice. Please, I beg of you.

Chris:

Very well. I have yet to repay you for helping me before, Sir Merric.

(If Avatar is male)
I shall do everything within my power.
(If Avatar is female)
I shall assist you.

Lena

Julian:

Prince Marth! Is it true that Lena's been found?

Marth:

Yes. According to our scouts, Lena is currently with my sister and the others.

Julian:

I have to save Lena. Let me talk to her. I just know I can make her return to normal.

Marth:

Julian, I understand your feelings. I, too, would like for you to speak to Lena. I still haven't decided who's going to take part in the final battle, but... Chris, your opinion?

Chris:

I don't know exactly how deep the relationship between them runs. However... I feel that Julian's strength will be required if we intend to save Sister Lena.

Marth:

Indeed. I will think hard and well about who to bring to this next battle. To find the best solution, not only to win this battle, but also to rescue everyone.
