Fire Emblem Engage: Several Official Names Revealed via Subtitles

A bit earlier than I expected, Nintendo of America has added closed caption subtitles for the recent “The Divine Dragon Awakens!” trailer.

When they add subtitles, they usually denote who’s talking. In the past, they generally hid the names of any characters whose names haven’t been revealed yet, but not this time!

Here are all the revealed names and who they belong to.

  • Lumera: Alear’s mother, the Divine Dragon King of Lythos. Lumiere in the Japanese version.
  • Diamant: Crown Prince of Brodia. Diamanté in the Japanese version.
  • Timerra: The lass from Solm who’s hungry for fun.
  • Fogato: The flamboyant lad from Solm.
  • Hortensia: The pink haired Elusian girl with the colourful costume.
  • Ivy: The Elusian wyvern mage. Previously translated as Abby via the leaked screenshots, but Ivy is valid.
  • Hyacinth: The important-looking Elusian man.
  • Eve: Queen of Firene. She’s the one who mentions her kingdom has a second Emblem Ring.
  • Veyle: The girl by the tree. I translated it as Veyre, which is a tributary in France. But I didn’t notice there’s a river there called Veyle…
  • Zephia: The silver-haired woman from the Four Hounds.

First, the obvious… All the known Elusians are named after flowers or plants: Hortensia, Ivy and Hyacinth.

I’m not too surprised, since all the Brodians are named after crystals: Diamant (diamond), Alcryst (anagram of Crystal), Citrinne and (via the leaked screenshots) Lapis.

That reminds me, I didn’t notice at first, but the blonde armored woman from the recent trailer could be the cut-off character from the 3rd leaked screenshot. You can vaguely see blonde hair, the eyes and eyebrow match and I think you can see bits of the helmet.

From the red/blue patterns on her armour, I suspect she might be a Brodian. If true, her name should be crystal-related. Sadly, in the screenshot, her name is too blurry and cut-off for me to read.

Regarding the two Solm characters (Timerra and Fogato), I can’t tell what the naming theme is. If anyone has any ideas, do let me know!

Likewise, I’m not getting any ideas with Zephia. From a bit of searching, I don’t think it’s a flower or plant. Which wouldn’t be odd, since the Four Hounds are said to be allied with Elusia, which implies its members may not necessarily be from Elusia itself (as in, it’s an independent entity).

Anyway, hopefully we get some more official profiles next week, to shed more light on things! I’m assuming they’ll want to start with the Brodian characters next.
