North America Announces a Fire Emblem Fates New 3DS XL & More

As if today’s DLC news wasn’t enough Nintendo will be releasing the Fire Emblem Fates Edition New 3DS XL. Priced at $200 and available at what can be assumed as being most major gaming retailers, this will stay firm on its price tag and not include any versions of either of the three Fates games.

This will be available on February 19, alongside the release of the main games.

And that’s not all! NintendoOfAmerica (on Twitter) Fire Emblem Fates Revelations is set to hit shelves in the US on March 10! By shelves, I of course mean DLC shelves.

Couple this with the Map Pack DLC, and you’ve got quite a bit to empty your wallet with! As VincentASM said before me, players can choose to buy each of these maps individually, or purchase Map Pack 1 for $17.99 to get access to them all at a discount once they are released.

Still no word on any EU release, but North America is getting the special treatment with a fresh and sleek New 3DS XL, hopefully the EU version will get this as well, and soon!

Full info can be found on Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Fates web site.

Time to add that 3DS to my collection.

  • August Mikkelsen

Nice 3DS. Shame NoA is going to censor Fates, otherwise I’d be more interested in buying it…

Good thing we have that translation patch for imported versions!

    • Leon99

So, because there might be a few alterations, you’d rather pirate and hack the Japanese version?
Wow. Some people really are that self-entitled.

      • August Mikkelsen

I said “imported”, not “pirated”. But yes, absolutely. Why would I want to purchase an incomplete product over a complete one? That just seems silly.

      • Aveyn Knight

Using Homebrew (specifically HANS), you can mod games you own, without needing to resort to piracy. While I would recommend the official English version, everyone’s entitled to their own choice.

      • Pokenar

You don’t need to pirate to import, HANS is a very effective system I’ve used to play hacks of ORAS.

With that said, I highly doubt NoA would be dumb enough to censor too much outside toning down the amie dialogue a bit. they got too much hell from censoring Tharja’s butt to try that again

        • Ari

Couldn’t care less about censoring or her butt. Her butt didn’t add or take away from the story and experience.

        • Airsh Bornely

I would’ve imported Fates since my 3ds has homebrew and Hans, but I heard you need to be below a particular version of your system and needed Ninjahax for something… It’s to technical for me. :/

  • Dillon Xiong

Bought the new 3ds xl thinking they wouldnt come with this
and Now I know, I fuqed up.

    • Ari

I feel your pain. I did the same thing and bought it thinking Nintendo was not going to release one since it was not mentioned in the direct.

      • Chris Offner

Merry Christmas to me too, I did it and Boom, Nintendo delivers

        • Ari

          We got juked by Nintendo.

  • Feldspur

    My wait wasn’t for nothing.

  • May_Patra

Love the subtle design. Looks much nicer than the faceplates imo.
If only NOE would finally announce something for us, too.

    • Aveyn Knight

Yeah, NOE, don’t leave us waiting too long. Please : P

  • Doctor Robert

The only disappointing thing about this is the fact that it doesn’t come with the game… [email protected]##^[email protected]!!!!

If you look carefully, you can notice there’s also french text on the boxart ( “Jeux Fire Emblem Fates vendus séparément.”, “édition Fire Emblem Fates” with a capital “é”, and another one on the bottom left of the box )

Looks like they’re planning to release it in Europe too, but I’ve already got a MH4U n3DS XL and the packaging is vertical, not horizontal.
But my japanese n3DS Fire Emblem if has the horizontal packaging too, so it’s weird… Maybe it’s the way Nintendo do them now?
I really hope it get released here ! I’ll buy it on the spot with the Special Edition… [Credit Card intensifies]

    • klkAlexar

I think French packaging is mandatory in parts of Canada.

      • Raytwo

Oh, you may be right, totally forgot about Canada ! Dayum, now I’m disappointed. xD

  • Fulcrum

Despite already owning a n3DSXL, I broke down and bought this. I am weak.

  • Robert

Am I really the only one who prefers the japanese fates plates to this?
I think I’ll stick to my FE: Awakening 3ds for now.

  • Ale. A. Santi

My money went to the special edition that became available for presale today in my local store, so im not getting that console lol…still….the design needs more work in my opinion, too plain

  • An Tran

Looks half-assed and boring. The faceplates were a way better thingy.

  • Jason K

Will they release yet ANOTHER special addition or DLC that has the uncensored character interactions? I want to convert lesbians dammit!

  • DimensionDrifter

I’m just getting myself a decal for the interior, but if you want the exterior too…well that’s there too. Not sure if you want to spend $10 for it though. Also keep in mind its for n3DSXL too.

  • Sentinel

Hopefully this will eventually be on Amazon or something, since I prefer making most purchases there.
