Fire Emblem Engage: Céline Tidbits via Twitter

Following Alfred‘s Twitter posts on Monday, this Friday, the official Japanese Fire Emblem Twitter shared some tidbits for Céline who, as expected, is his sister.

Céline’s profile:

Céline (VA: Akari Kitō) is the first princess of the Firenese Kingdom and Alfred’s younger sister. She’s a kind and innocent philanthropist who always strives to solve things peacefully. However, she won’t hesitate to fight for peace if necessary.

Previously, it was possible to guess that she and Alfred were related due to their similar hair and eye colours, as well as motifs in their outfits (especially the black and white bands).

Next, we have two battles:

These battles showcase Céline’s starting class of Noble, which is the same as Alfred’s. However, Céline’s Noble class can wield swords and magic. The first battle showcases her swordplay, then the next one her magic.

During the first battle scene, the map takes place at night time, during Fog of War.

The characters on the field include Vander, Louis, Céline, Alfred (engaged with Sigurd), Framme, brown-haired axe guy with Alfred, Cramme and Etie. Near the bottom-right corner, Chloé has ended her turn. Up north (currently off-screen), I think there’s Alear.

On the map, there’s an unlit torch near the enemies that Céline is moving towards. There are also three more of these elsewhere on the map. Presumably, you can light them to increase the vision around them.

Céline here is Level 6, which is higher than the characters from the first verdant map (4), where we first see Céline–and Louis and Chloé are at the centre of the map. But lower than the second verdant map (7), where there are NPC civilians/guards near the north.

After Céline moves, the player selects her weapon. She’s equipped with a Slim Sword, Iron Sword, Armorslayer, Fire and Vulnerary. The player swaps to her Iron Sword for the fight.

Her foe here is a Thief wielding a Hammer that drops after defeat. This could be the same foe that Chloé fought in the reveal trailer. Since he too wields a Hammer that drops upon defeat.

Céline can trigger a Break in this fight. Again, perhaps because of weapon advantage? Her enemy has a chance to KO and so does her second attack.

I almost missed this, but when the camera pans slightly up to focus on Céline and her foe, you can see somebody with Marth’s Ring equipped right at the top of the screen. This is presumably Alear. Did the player make them charge on ahead on purpose or did Alear get separated as part of the story?

On the left is Céline triggering a critical on the Thief. On the right is Chloé during the reveal trailer. Looks very much like the same place and same foe.

The scene that transitions to a different map that we haven’t seen before. Looks like an abandoned ruin. The playable characters on the map include Alfred (lance cavalry), Chloé (pegasus) and Etie (archer).

Update: Oops, I circled something, but forgot to comment about it. One of the enemies seems to have a colourless Dagger icon. Is this also part of the colourless weapon triangle? During the Framme showcase, it appears that Brawling beats Bows. Presumably Tome (wielded by Cramme etc.) also fits in the triangle, but now we have Dagger too…

Looking at the mini-map on the bottom-right, the team seems to be divided into two groups, another located in the south-west corner. There are treasure chests near the south, along the centre. Below the chests is a narrow passageway accessible via two doors.

The foes here also seem to be Thieves, so perhaps this is one of their hideouts? Or just a ruin they stumbled upon and are trying to ransack?

Lastly, note that Céline is Level 7 here, one Level higher than before. Does this map occur right after the previous map, since the enemies are the same? Of course, Céline is also Level 7 during the NPC rescue map in the verdant nation. Although it’s possible she didn’t Level Up in one of the maps, etc.

The fight itself doesn’t reveal anything new, but is nice to look at. Céline only does 10 damage once, against her foe. But she pulls of a 1% critical anyway, KOing the enemy Thief (name of the foe, not the class).

While Céline is casting magic, we can see the ancient text from Tellius again, like in the reveal trailer. I don’t think there’s any special reason for this particular ancient text to be used, but I’ll leave the theory-crafters to go nuts!

As for what the text itself says, the quality of the footage isn’t high enough to make out the text (for me, anyway). For what it’s worth, the right-most text seems to say “Fire Emblem”; I can recognise that from a mile away, ahaha.

Oh, the sky backdrop seems to have sunrise colours. Which would support the theory of the two Thief maps being back-to-back. The first one starts at night, then it continues into daybreak. Whew, I hope Alear and company got enough rest.

Finally, we have Céline’s introduction:

There are two key points here.

One, it sounds like when Alfred came to visit Alear, it may not have been solely for Alear’s benefit. Firene, Alfred and Céline’s nation seems to be in trouble–and Alfred may have asked Alear for help.

As for what this trouble could be… well, we do see The Corrupted in two separate maps. Then, there’s also the Thieves, although I imagine they’re a lesser issue. Plus there’s the possibility of the Elusians invading their lands too, thinking back to the sunset castle/fortress map.

Two, Alear helps Céline somehow–and this conversation presumably occurs right after this “help” happened. I’d wager it’s something to do with rescuing the stranded Chloé and Louis from the first verdant nation map. Or perhaps it’s more serious than that. For example, maybe the territory featured in that map is hers?
