Cipher S8 Weekly Recap: New Cards, Promo Art, Postcards, & Cipher Sai!

We’re now another week closer to the release of Series 8 of Fire Emblem Cipher! As excitement for the set continues, we have many more reveals and promotional materials to share, including this beautiful joined artwork of Tiki and Lucina from Fire Emblem Awakening as R+ alternate art cards.

Other Awakening cards revealed this week include Lucina’s regular art R card, an SR card for Frederick, and a non-signed version of the Exalt Chrom SR. Characters from Genealogy of the Holy War also made an appearance in this week’s batch: an R card for Fabail and an HN card for Ulster.

The official FE Cipher website has been updated with an official listing for S8. However, it contains less information than the usual series page update, only revealing the booster pack image and confirming that there will be no ST deck. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to see what the booster box goodies and preview promos will look like this time around.

Advertising for the set is beginning to spread around Japan, both on- and offline. Card shops have begun to display some posters advertising S8, showing off new art of Larcei and new unpromoted cards for Lucina and Ced.

@cardland_cipher has also revealed some promotional, text-free artwork of a few new cards in the set. For Awakening, we get art of Lucina, Female Robin, Cherche, and Risen King Chrom. For Genealogy, the chosen characters are Seliph, Altena, Shannan, and Julius. Only the Female Robin art is completely new, but all are clean, digital images.

The Cipher site has now posted details about their postcard campaign for S8. Participating retailers will give out postcard packs to anyone who purchases Cipher boosters. There are three different packs featuring Cipher artwork of characters from Awakening, Genealogy, and Gaiden, and also some of the “dot art” images that were made for Cipher.

The postcard campaign starts on March 16th and will last as long as there is postcard stock available. A list of participating retailers can be found on the event page.

As a reminder, Cipher Sai Festival 2017 starts in Japan this weekend! Updates to the event’s page have finalized the merchandise stock, including the Tiki and Lucina playmat that was revealed on the recent livestream.

Since our earlier article, the page has announced that Eri Suzuki, voice of Soleil from Fates, will be appearing as an MC for Cipher Sai West in Osaka this Sunday. Similarly, Juri Kimura, voice of Nyx and Mozu, will be the MC for Sai East in Tokyo the following Sunday The voice actresses have been frequent guests on recent Cipher livestreams.

Cipher Series 8 will release in a month on March 17th. We’ll continue sharing new cards and artwork as they’re released in the meantime.
