Fire Emblem Cipher Series 15 has been out for a month and Comiket has come and gone. With the new year here, let’s now take a look ahead for what’s in store with Cipher Series 16!
The series is titled 「勇気よ燃ゆる魂よ」 in Japanese, which roughly translated to “Courage, Burning Soul.” It will feature cards and characters from four titles:
- Binding Blade (Purple Cards)
- Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (Red Cards)
- Radiant Dawn (Green Cards)
- Fire Emblem Heroes (Colourless Cards)
The set will come out in a bit over two months on 22 March. Click on the “Read More” button down below for a look at pre-release art and further details.
Some of the information that Kawade has revealed in the livestreams so far seems to imply that Binding Blade may be the largest focus of the set. For starters, it has the most art so far, including this very large, joined-art piece featuring Roy in the center:
The current prevailing theory is that the other eight cards surrounding Roy will feature wielders of Elibe’s eight Legendary Weapons. Kawade also showed off a larger version of that center Roy art separately, along with another piece for Roy.
Other FE6 art includes: Celdia (from the Hasha no Tsurugi manga), Fae, Gale, Saul, and Sophia.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
The next title of the set sees a return to Echoes cards. So far, these cards seem to be focusing on characters in Celica’s army, including three new pieces of art for Celica herself. The third one shows her as a child along with her brother Conrad.
Furthermore, we also get to see art for Boey, Jesse, and Nomah.
S16’s third featured title is Radiant Dawn. Sanaki seems to be the main character this time around, and we’ve even already gotten a promotional digital version of one of her card arts. This one actually seems to be based more on her appearance in Path of Radiance.
Livestream art for RD also includes another piece for Sanaki as well as cards for Nephenee, Brom, and Kurthnaga.
Fire Emblem Heroes
The final title in S16 is Fire Emblem Heroes. The Heroes cards revealed so far seem to focus on original characters, but currently have a bit of a mish-mash of themes. The promotional Eir art shown up above definitely shows that Book III will be appearing in some form. We also get some art for Spring Sharena and Brave Veronica.
Whether the remaining cards will focus more on Book III, seasonals, or other variants remains to be seen.
We’ve also gotten art so far for two of the Cipher original characters that will be appearing in S16: Emma and Shade.
Both of them also appear as DLC characters in SoV, so we don’t yet know if they’ll be appearing as red Echoes characters or in any other colour.
Pre-Orders and Other Information
That’s about all the news we have for Cipher Series 16 so far. There’s still another two months before the set comes out, so it will still be some time before we start getting daily reveals. I expect that the Winter Livestream will air sometime in mid-February. We’ll probably also see the set sleeves and get our first daily reveals shortly before then.
In the meantime, pre-orders for Cipher Series 16 are now available on AmiAmi and elsewhere online. You’re also welcome to come visit the Cipher section of the Serenes Forest forums to chat and speculate about the upcoming set.
