Genei Ibun Roku #FE: Mastering Your Mirage

During their version of the November Nintendo Direct, Nintendo of Japan provided another brief look at Genei Ibun Roku #FE.

Perhaps worried that everyone had forgotten about the game, the trailer spent a lot of time introducing the game as a modern day RPG that blends in elements from the Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem games.

Towards the latter half, however, there were some new nuggets of information related to the heroes’ otherworldly partners–the Mirages.

Fire Emblem if Nintendo Direct 31st May: My Castle and Amiibos

Nintendo of Japan certainly know how to pick a strange day for a new Nintendo Direct: on a Sunday, a day before June and just weeks away from E3 (and with me conveniently away at the Pokemon VGC UK Nationals, in case you’re wondering why this news post is so late).

Today’s Japan-only Direct focused on upcoming Summer 3DS and Wii U games and, Fire Emblem if, being a Summer title (it comes out on 25th June in case you didn’t know or forgot) was naturally featured.

To begin with, the Fire Emblem if portion of the Direct introduced a brand new key feature known as My Castle. This is the player’s base of operations; a castle town that serves as a hub for interacting with characters and accessing facilities, similar to the world map in Awakening.

The first thing you may notice is that you–the Avatar–can freely walk around on the map, like in a traditional RPG (or inside the villages of Fire Emblem Gaiden).

Nintendo Direct April 2015: #FE and FE if

Today’s amazingly timed Nintendo Direct gave Fire Emblem fans plenty to drool over.feif-april001The first surprise: Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem isn’t dead, although it seems to have received a complete makeover and a new name to boot. You can watch the trailer and follow the discussions over on our forums.

Less of a surprise, given its close release in Japan, there was also a new trailer for Fire Emblem if, showing off tons of cutscenes and gameplay. Likewise, you can check out the trailer and discussions on the forums.

At the moment, it’s 0 AM for me, so I’ll try my best to write up some details from the trailers, but if you don’t see me around, I’ve probably succumbed to sleep.

Fire Emblem if Initial Game Information

In Nintendo’s first Nintendo Direct for 2015, they started off with a megaton: a teaser for a brand new Fire Emblem title for the Nintendo 3DS.

As with most new announcements, details are scarce at the moment, although from the available footage, the graphics and gameplay are very similar to the previous entry, Fire Emblem: Awakening. This apparently includes the Dual System (Dual Strikes etc.) introduced in that game.
