Illusory Revelations #FE 2nd Blog Post

Almost three weeks after its re-reveal, a new blog post has been added to the Illusory Revelations #FE official site. For those who can’t read Japanese, Mystic of TRADUKO Soft has kindly translated the post here.

This time, the game’s main character designer, toi8, shares his experience of working on this unique collaboration title. A fair warning: try not to take the last paragraph too seriously; it’s meant to be a lighthearted comment.

Fire Emblem’s 25th Anniversary: A Celebration

So what started as a 2 paragraph introduction became a series retrospective; you can probably tell how much I love the series, haha.

With the serious stuff out of the way, here are some fun things other people and I have put together to celebrate 25 years of Fire Emblem.

kozaki-fe-25-yearsTo begin with, Yusuke Kozaki (the official artist for Awakening and if) drew another of his commemorative sketches, this time for Fire Emblem’s 25th.

If it’s hard to tell the characters because of the lack of colours, they’re from left to right: Roy, Sigurd, Eirika, Ephraim(?), Leif, Marth, Ike, Lucina and Chrom.

Fire Emblem’s 25th Anniversary: A Retrospective

On 20th April, 25 years ago, the very first Fire Emblem game, Dark Dragon and Sword of Light was released on the Famicom in Japan.

Fast forward to the present day and we’re all anxiously waiting for the 14th installment, Fire Emblem if to be released (or 15th if you count BS Fire Emblem as a numbered title, like Nintendo does).

During this time, the series has experienced many highs and lows.

Back in 1994, the third game in the series, Mystery of the Emblem sold a record-breaking 776,000 copies in Japan. Fans fell in the love with the series’s complex yet concise gameplay, rich storyline and diverse cast of characters, which few games boasted at the time.

In the coming years, the series ushered in a golden age that seemed like it would last forever.

April News Roundup: Roy and Hot Cakes

I tend to avoid trying to spam the front page with minor news and speculation, but they’ve been building up lately. So without further ado, here’s what’s been in the news lately…

15th April: A 3DS hacker by the name of shinyquagsire23 uncovered various new sound files in the 1.06 update for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, including an unused victory theme for Roy from Binding Blade and Super Smash Bros. Melee (Source).

To my knowledge, the findings are legitimate, but the purpose of the file is less certain. Obviously, there’s the possibility that Nintendo is paving the way for Roy as a future DLC character. But on the other hand, it could be a test file or a file from a scrapped project.
