Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore concert canceled due to public health concerns

Update: April 28th, 12:38 PM PT — Details surrounding the concert’s uncertain future have been clarified in this article.

The Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Premium Live music concert, which was originally scheduled to take place on June 27th at the Tokyo Dome City Hall, received an update on its official site today to announce that the event has been canceled at this time.

As with many other public gatherings worldwide, such as the recently canceled Fire Emblem Expo II, the concert was held off as a countermeasure against the coronavirus pandemic in order to prioritize the safety of all involved.

Just like the original Tokyo Mirage Sessions concert from 2016, fans would gather together in large groups to enjoy the live music performances from the game. Photo from Nintendo.

At the time of this writing, Avex has not yet shared details on how would-be event goers may refund their tickets if they wish, but advise holding onto them in the interim as they will update the site later again to provide more information.

Fire Emblem Warriors Free Trial for Japanese and Hong Kong Switch Online Members 1/20 through 1/26

Fire Emblem fans who have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for a Japanese or Hong Kong region account have the opportunity to trial run Fire Emblem Warriors between 20th and 26th January 2020.

Here’s the Japanese trailer announcing the game trial.

Nintendo Hong Kong also shared an article with the same offer for their region.

Similar to the game trials for Mario Tennis Aces in the West and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker in Japan, fans can download the full game and play it within the specified dates. Afterwards, they must purchase the game if they wish to continue playing.

To qualify for the game trial, you must have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription active on a Japanese or Hong Kong region account. You can’t simply cheat by switching accounts (like for the Famicom apps).

That said, if you have a family plan with a spare slot, you could add a Japanese or Hong Kong region account to it. Alternatively, you could purchase a Nintendo Switch Online 7 day free trial for 100 Platinum Coins from the Japanese My Nintendo website (Nintendo states that this will work).

Once the game trial period is active, there will be a separate download link near the top of the game’s eShop product page (where the blue arrow is).

As a note from someone who has played both the Japanese and English versions of this game, the Japanese version does not have English language support unlike say Dynasty Warriors 9.

Additionally, between 20th January and 2nd February, both the game itself as well as the season pass (which contains all three DLC packs) will be discounted by 40%. This deal will only be available via the Japanese and Hong Kong eShops.

Each DLC pack comes with 3 history maps, 3 playable characters and several new weapon additions (including abilities and skills). As well as several new mission types sprinkled all over. Basically, there’s lots of contents for you to challenge.

To see a brief demonstration of the three DLC packs, please check these links:

If you’re interested to know my initial thoughts on the game back in 2017, when it first launched, you can read my review of the Japanese version.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore: Tips & tricks for your path to stardom

In the Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore game for Nintendo Switch, players help a group of aspiring performing artists fend off an otherworldly threat in a fashion signature to the brand of Atlus games, and with the help of Fire Emblem allies like Chrom and Caeda who’ve lost their memories and need a way back home.

Putting it this way, it may be easy to think Tokyo Mirage Sessions would be a confusing game to play, given that it’s conceptually unprecedented. That is not the case: the game in fact does a fairly good job of making sure the player has a strong grasp of its systems in order to enjoy it thoroughly to the very end.

Even with that in mind, we’ve prepared a variety of tips and tricks to help any newcomers catch on to things a bit quicker and hopefully make their time with Encore even better.

We’ll try not to cover too much about the things the game already explains to you, because it already does that well enough. Our little guide here is more for things we think you might like to figure out sooner and get you up to speed on what you should know.
