Binding Blade added to Japanese Wii U Virtual Console

This news isn’t applicable for most people here, but for the sake of reference…

From 2nd September 2015, Fire Emblem: Binding Blade will be available from the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console.

Binding Blade is notable for being the first game in the series not developed by series creator Shouzou Kaga (who left to form his own company) and the first portable Fire Emblem.

As it happens, it’s also the first Fire Emblem game I played and the game that made me fall in love with the series. (So in a sense, you can thank this game for Serenes Forest’s existence…)

Fates DLC Week 4: Invisible Truths

This week, Japanese fans (and importers) can download the final DLC map (that has been announced) for Fire Emblem Fates.

The Invisible History is a two-part mission that occurs before the events of the main story and explains how three returning characters from Awakening ended up in the world of Fates.

Additionally, as its title eludes, it delves a bit into the history of the Invisible Kingdom, which the third route focuses on. As such, I personally recommend completing the third route before playing this mission.

Those who reach the mission’s end will earn a Fellblood Emblem (allows any male character to change to the Grandmaster class) and First Dragon Blood (allows any character to utilise Dragon Vein).

For those curious about the story, check out the story summary by Kirokan and script translation (up to the end of the first map) by teddybearyt!

Fates DLC Week 3: A Royal Ruckus

This week sees the release of the third batch of Fire Emblem Fates DLC.

Only one new map has been added, Battle for the Strongest Royal, where the player picks one of the eight royal siblings and battles against the remaining seven (and all their retainers) for the claim of “the strongest royal”.

So basically very similar to Paradise Scramble, except at the end, you’re rewarded with a Dread Scroll if you sided with a Hoshidan royal or a Dark Falcon Wing if you sided with a Nohrian royal.

Unlike in Awakening, these class-change items can be used regardless of the character’s gender, so enjoy your female Dread Fighters and male Dark Falcons!

Anyway, be sure to check the forums if you’re curious for more details.

Fates DLC Week 2: Goodbye Funds and Weapons Woes

This week, two more Fire Emblem Fates DLC maps are available for purchase (or playing if you purchased the 7-map bundle beforehand).

In Duelist Museum, players can acquire a variety of common to rare weapons and items, which should be handy considering weapons have unlimited uses now and the rarer ones are typically limited in number.

Meanwhile, Treasure of the Ruins allows players a limited number of turns to loot as much Gold as possible from enemies.

Grinding for gold may sound superfluous, but it can be incredibly helpful–I returned to Awakening’s similar The Golden Gaffe more times than I’d like to admit.

(A word of caution for importers: You will need to download yesterday’s 1.1 update to use the game’s Internet functions, including the ability to access the new DLC maps.)

Like always, feel free to check our forums for discussions!
